ShareFile as Publishing Target
Is there a best practices guide for generating Flare output intended to be posted to a ShareFile wiki? Amazingly enough, entering the single term ShareFile in the search bar for these MadCap forums generates 0 hits - perhaps these are ruthlessly deleted? Any guidance?

Re: Is there a way to have chapter titles in headers for PDF
Well, this is all well and good as far as it goes, but, it turns out that any heading styles which have mc-heading-level: 0 , which basically identifies an entry that should not go into the TOC, will not be able to be used in a footer (or header too I guess) because with no heading level, they are n...

Re: Is there a way to have chapter titles in headers for PDF
I may be missing something here , but what I want to do is embed the name of the chapter in the footer dynamically when chapters change like: INTRODUCTION | 1 (right page) 1 | INTRODUCTION (left page) CHAPTERNAMEWHATEVER | 1 (right page of CHAPTERNAMEWHATEVER ) 2| CHAPTERNAMEWHATEVER (left page of C...

Re: Merging/splitting topics
I generate data models from complex databases, and save the results to HTML. They are big. It would be very helpful to be able to point at these monsters and tell Flare to split them at a particular tag or class change, say, class="card-body"> in the following (truncated) example excerpted...

Same problem. ∆ are getting lost (appearing as blank space) after import from Word. What is going on?

Flare 2018 will not start suddenly - my bad
So I did this to myself. I wasted the very patient Mr. Torres time on support. Circumstances: I am using Flare 2018 on a development workstation. Among its many purposes, one is creating programs in Visual Studio 2017 and Oracle databases. I had run into a problem troubleshooting an Oracle q...

Re: Page Layout Not Saving
This is indeed vastly annoying and driving me 'potty' as well :( - in fact, driving me to use potty-mouth descriptions of the problem. No amount of fiddling with page layouts or targets or anything has made any difference. None of the recommended solutions make any difference. The topics come up wit...

Re: block snippets lose formatting
Maybe so but these were within a <div></div> by themselves. Anyway the point is to check the snippet type if formatting gets wiped by Flare.

Re: Control wrap of long lines in PDF H/Fs?
And I think this topic leads to the question of the execrable flexbox support in Flare continuing into the latest 2018 release.
It barely works for HTML5 and, explicitly stated elsewhere, not at all for PDF targets.
Why is providing this natively not a priority?

Re: Preserve formatting of inline HTML pasted into Flare top
Don’t forget to use madcap:snippetBlock, not madcap:snippetText, to incorporate these formatted snippets.
By default for whatever reason Flare pastes them all as madcap:snippetText
which annihilates the formatting. Would be nice if it confirmed the type on paste...

Re: block snippets lose formatting
It is absolutely inserting these as a snippetText by default. Switching the ones that were supposed to be para to snippetBlock solved the issue for me.

Validation failures with css
I have been using a program named CSE Html Validator to check my HTML5 and css for correctness. It blows chunks on anything in the css referring to MadCap e.g. mc-heading-level: 0; It appears that other css validators also have issues with this. I would vastly prefer to simply put a namespace refere...

Re: Page numbers aren't behaving in PDF/Flare 10.2.2
Well I'll be damned. All the Googling in the world never stumbled on this. I shall give this a whack with a big stick. Thank you, Ms. Beck-the-Magnicent-and-All-Powerfui. UPDATE: Confirmed. Now I just have to figure out how to format the integer page numbers so they align in the TOC instead of...

Re: Page numbers aren't behaving in PDF/Flare 10.2.2
Flare 2018 before today's patch release. I guess I am in the right discussion but please excuse me if I have stomped on a thread. I have been having a really hard time getting the PDF page numbers to follow the logic of the h1 and h2 auto-numbering. My Chapters and Appendices are all numbered right...

Re: Suppressing TOC (actually, Glossary!)
So I cannot see any check boxes to not generate an index or glossary tab for an HTML5 TriPane ONLINE output. I have no glossary or index, nor will I have these. Is there a way to not have these generated as tabs ?

xhtml spec requires lower case, Flare generates mixed
My interpretation of the xhtml strict spec is that a keyword must be lowercase, but the Flare files are full of MadCap: entries that do not conform. This makes HTML Validator and HTML Tidy unhappy. Is there a way to a) conform as required, or b) tell Flare to generate lower-case keywords? Not obviou...

Re: How to Remove Left Panel?
Is there a way to simply open the htm file and suppress the TOC at the left without making this a global skin setting? Ideally it would also hide the hyperlink at the top of the page that is automatically generated to show the help on demand. In effect, want to suppress the javascript that does all ...

Re: MadCap Styles.css does not validate in CSS Tidy
This seems innately wrong to me. Shouldn't it be possible to create or adapt a standard stylesheet and use it in MadCap during development, and that actually validates regardless of the project build status? Having these directives that do not validate but magically generate good MadCap output seems...

Re: MadCap Styles.css does not validate in CSS Tidy
Also note that I asked it to report malformed selectors i.e. with underscores as well as non-browser safe colours. MadCap default css has both of these. Seems messy or at least, UNTIDY!

MadCap Styles.css does not validate in CSS Tidy
I have used CSS Tidy on the distro styles.css from MadCap, downloaded from the link in the styles PDF tome, and it reports errors. The errors appear to be in the following lines: MadCap|xref { mc-format:{para; } MadCap|xref:hover { color:silver; } MadCap|xref.page { mc-format:{page; } MadCap|xref.se...
