Re: Autonumbering: Exercise <Module Num>-<Number>
I don't think I described what I am trying to get the exercise style to do. I want the exercise style to look something like this: Exercise 1-1 where the first 1 is based on the last module number. I could be wrong, but if I created the xref style the way you suggested it, I would get something like...

Autonumbering: Exercise <Module Num>-<Number>
Hola, I'm trying to get the exercise to automatically include the module number in the exercise title, so it looks something like this: Exercise <Module Number>-<Number> The module's are not chapters so I can't include the <chapnum> tag. The module style is using this mc-auto-number-format: GM:Modul...

Re: PDF bookmarking different from Contents
This was back from 2009. Is there now a way to include or exclude the bookmark levels you want in a PDF? I would like to only show H1 and H2 levels... OR only show the bookmarks, in a similar fashion to the TOC. (which in may case does not show H3 levels) You might be able to accomplish this by mod...

Re: Device compatibility
Don't Android-based and iOS-based phones use Webkit-based browers? Besides the screen size (which isn't standardized on Andoid phones) I would imagine if it works in a webkit-browser on your PC and isn't Flash based, you should be ok.

Re: Tip : Expanding a dropdown automatically, by class
if i had to guess, the html would look like this: calling the function: <script src="../<folder with script>/<name of javascript file you created with his supplied code>.js"></script> * keep in mind, you need to keep relative pathing in mind, so if the script doesnt work right away, mess w...

Re: Absolute position on relationship tables
hey, i dont know if you found a solution to your issue, but you could do something like this: in your masterpage, add something like this in your <body> tags: <div style="float:left; width: 75%;"> <MadCap:bodyProxy /></div> <div style="position: fixed; width: 22%; top: 30px; right: 0p...

Re: how do I make mini-toc use a link style?
One of the easiest ways to determine how to stylize any of the proxies (at least online) is to build it and then view the code of the topic. A miniTOC will generate something like this: <p class="MiniTOC1"><a class="MiniTOC1" href="folder/topic_name.htm">Topic Name</a><...

Re: How to convert regular hyperlink to reference in print?
when we made the conversion from hyperlinks to xrefs we were able to do a Find and Replace (FnR) to make the transistion pretty quick, assuming you dont have any special characteristics in your links (conditions, inline styles, etc) a quick FnR should get you on the xref train pretty quick. Plain hy...

Re: Why go with Flare over Robohelp?
One thing I'm betting: can't get this kind of prompt, helpful response from RH. Well, technically speaking you're not getting this response from MadCap either. RoboHelp's user forums might be just as prompt as this peer-to-peer forum. But I'm sure we're nicer (unless you start RamonS on a Microsoft...

this will solve your issue. here is the link to the original source: http://www.the-art-of-web.com/javascript/buildmenu/ this is the javascript that needs to be saved to "buildmenu.js", made some minor changes, creates an UNordered list, doesn't put numbers in front of your headings, and u...

Changing Max-Width Based on Containing Tags
I should be able to set the max-width property to change depending on what the containing tag is, correct?
i thought I could do something like this:
Am I missing something, or am I using this incorrectly?
Thanks.
Matt

Re: Is there a way to auto-insert bolded "Note:" text
Lisa's right (of course!) that you can apply the bolding right in the auto-number format. But like her, I do prefer the span class approach. I single-source Help and print docs (and differently formatted print docs at that) from the same project. I might have "Note: " bolded in the Help, ...

What are you trying to keep in your header that you need to have it displayed all the time? (just curious, always interested in why people do different things in help systems )

Re: Creating Note style with Note above text
Very cool! Weclome to the forums. We did something a while ago with Note, Tip, Danger, Caution, and Warning with our stylesheet. We had the text (for example, Note) appear in bold and inserted before the rest of the note text, then added a border and background color for online outputs. Seems odd th...

Google Font API
Is anyone thinking about integrating the Google Font API into their help systems? Unfortunately, our primary users do not have access to the internet at their workstations so it won't really work for us. The concept of being able to use any font type and know that your user will see the help system ...

Re: Barebones field-level help popups (WebHelp, Flare 4.2)
"It is possible to do both (although field-level help is not as common anymore as it used to be, since it is easier for users to understand the software at the screen level than at the individual field level - tab level help makes perfect sense). In order to work, your developers have to add an...

Re: Defining a "style-after" style
you could always create a style called: p.paragraph and have the next tag/class point to that. have the p.paragraph to mimic your typical paragraph text OR just Find and Replace the <p style="paragraph> to <p> .... i know that isnt the ultimate solution, but it is a quick fix for the time being.

I don't know what your computer setup is but you could do the following: 1) if everyone is on desktops, have the builds done when people aren't in the office (aka late at night) 2) if everyone is on laptops, see if your IT department has a spare pc laying around that can be used as the departments b...
