Re: Problems with keyboard shortcuts?

I've found the cause: it occurs when you have at least one floating pane. That is, a topic, content explorer, project organizer, or similar is floating outside of the main Flare window. I'm lucky enough to have two monitors, so I can spread out my panes, hence I was seeing this issue all the time. I...

I'm using 9.1.1 and I've switched to .NET 4.0. I still see the problem. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Re: Problems with keyboard shortcuts?

Thanks.

You could try keyboard shortcuts in the ribbon. Holding down 'alt' should show you which letters you need to press. I suspect the same bug causes applies to both.

Re: Problems with keyboard shortcuts?

If you give me some examples of the shortcuts you are using, I'll willingly start using them and see what happens, and learn more about Flare in the process. :-) No probs. Here's the three I use most often. Bullets: Alt+O, S, B Insert drop-down: Alt+I, D Insert image: Alt+I, I They work with the ol...

Problems with keyboard shortcuts?

I'm desperately trying to find a reliable way to reproduce a bug with keyboard shortcuts in Flare 9. Specifically, keyboard shortcuts to select something the ribbon or the older menu bar stop working for me. Sometimes it occurs after a few minutes but often a few seconds after opening Flare. If you ...

'Find in files' only searches in source code

Hi, Flare 9.1.1 has got itself in a state where 'Find in files' only returns results found in the source code. It doesn't matter whether 'Find in source code' is ticked or not. Has anyone else seen this and have a solution? It's only just started happening, so deleting Flare configuration might solv...

Re: Changing GUI text

Something to consider: I got rid of the 'Quick Search' option completely because (a) it adds confusion as this topic discusses (b) my readers are used to typing ctrl+F to search in their browser, which does more-or-less the same thing.

Re: Flare performance and RAM?

My Flare 7 won't ever use more than 1GB of memory, whatever I've doing. Does anyone know of a hack to get it to use more? (I'm lucky in that my PC has 8GB. My IT department is competent enough to can compare the value of my time to the value of RAM.) I also notice Flare slowing down when working wit...

Re: Mini-toc doesn't show in the build (HTML)

I think that the mini-TOC is a print-only feature. (I can't check right now as I'm not at work.) A possible solution is: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11199&p=63842#p63842 It gives you a menu similar to the blue one in the attachment. It's a bit of a faff to set up but...

Re: Mini TOC that lists sub-headings in a single topic

I think I've found your problem. I suspect that this line... <script type="text/javascript" src="/buildmenu.js"> ...cannot find the file called buildmenu.js . Firstly, remove the slash from src="/buildmenu.js ". Secondly, make sure that the buildmenu.js file in the same...

Re: Complex selectors not displaying in snippets

it makes more sense not have a margin on your 'normal' p tag, and make a special case for when you need the 160px margin; e.g. have p margin as 0, but have body > p as 160px (when p is a direct child of body). Good idea. Sounds tempting. What is the <p> is inside a <div> instead of being directly i...

Complex selectors not displaying in snippets

I've recently discovered complex selectors and they could be really useful for me. However, there's an issue that blocking their use that perhaps you can help me with. I've got a standard <p> tag that is indented: p { margin-left: 160px; } If a paragraph appears inside a table, I don't want this ind...

Re: Mini TOC that lists sub-headings in a single topic

Ah! Excellent. That works a treat. I had to make a few alterations to make it Flare-compatible and I thought I'd pass these on. IMPORTANT: on 27 August 2010 I edited the following so that it was compatible with Internet Explorer and not just Firefox. If you looked at this post beforehadn then you ma...

Re: Mini TOC that lists sub-headings in a single topic

I've tried that but with no luck: what you suggested creates a mini-TOC that lists all topics that are below the mini-TOC in the TOC tree. At least, that's what happened when I tried it.

I'm looking for a way to list all the H3 headings in the same topic as a mini-TOC.

Mini TOC that lists sub-headings in a single topic

In WebHelp output, is it possible to create some kind of mini-TOC at the beginning of a topic that lists all the sub-headings in that topic? Something along the lines of: This topic contains: - something - something else - yet another thing I can create all this by hand, of course, but it's pretty t...
