Re: CSH for online output
Typically, F1 help takes the current focus into account. Check if the menu has focus before pressing F1. Other than that...you do not give much information to go by. I also do not know what you mean by "database table". What table is that and what role does it play for CSH?

I upgraded at home last week and generated new HTML5 output for a small project. No issues.

Re: IE browser version requirements
And I don't think I did mean IE10 in post 2, this whole thing is only about IE11. Also, I'm not sure how the server version fits in. It only needs for a browser to have a problem with the HTML it is presented with, by whatever web server, for issues to occur. :D Because by now Server 2012 is the on...

It may be a control provided by the browser. In which browser(s) do you see that?

Re: IE browser version requirements
My point was that there is only one version of Windows that runs IE10 and is still supported in that constellation (Server 2012). If users on other Windows versions haven't upgraded to IE11, which is out now for about four years, they ought to have much bigger issues than help potentially not workin...

Re: IE browser version requirements
I may not be making myself clear; it's not what Windows server version is compatible with IE11, it's what versions of Madcap Flare are compatible with IE11. What I'm worried about, is generating HTML5 sites from Flare, which won't function correctly in IE11. Because I can't make people use a differ...

What kind of output is it? IIRC printable output omits topics that are not in the ToC.

Re: IE browser version requirements
Yes. IE10 support is currently only provided on Server 2012, all other supported Windows versions can run IE11 and if they still run IE10 they are not supported by Microsoft. So unless you have many users who happen to do their work on Server 2012 assuming that IE11 is the norm is quite safe.

Creator's update is the most current release, Anniversary update is the one before. Eventually, you will have to upgrade to Creator's or whatever ends up to be recent at that point.

The li style already exists and you do not need to create it. I also wonder how automatic numbering words with nested p styles versus li styles. There may be other things, but my mind always goes back to the question why you want to create something that is already there?

Re: Flare, store Knowledge Base articles in an SQL Database
You can still achieve that with Flare, but you either will need to create these lists manually, such as through a section in the ToC,employ server side scripting, or use hidden text that gets picked up by the Flare search. Using hidden text will not give you much control over the ranking unless you ...

Re: Flare, store Knowledge Base articles in an SQL Database
As far as Flare output is concerned, it is essentially nothing else than plain ol' web content. A bunch of HTML files that are made a bit smarter with JavaScript and a bit prettier with CSS. All that a web server can handle on its own are flat files. I'm a bit surprised that you are surprised. Witho...

Re: Flare, store Knowledge Base articles in an SQL Database
While SQL has benefits when it comes to querying, there are plenty of full text search engines that accomplish about the same with flat files. Have you tried Flare's built-in search capabilities? May not be exactly what you had in mind, but typically the need is to query text for keywords. What you ...

Now I´ve put the HTML5 files on our ftp server instead. Do you mean you use FTP to upload it to a web server? If it gets accessed from an FTP server I am not surprised that things don't work because FTP servers cannot serve up anything requested via HTTP. I assume that is not what you are trying to...

Re: Out of memory errors when building HTML5 Output
There is some truth to it. Of the 8GB RAM the OS takes a good chunk plus several other applications. Flare does not get access to all the memory in the system.

I don't think there is a "best", but there surely are some that are better than others depending on circumstances. Which source control system do the developers use? If it is one that Flare natively supports I'd piggyback on that. Makes it easier to integrate help into build and deploy pro...

What about the old computer died? If the drive is still working you can remove it and copy the project files off the drive. Then open the project files using the new computer. That will add them as projects to the Flare startpage.

Re: What monitor size, resolution, etc. works best with Flar
It all depends on the budget..and if your system can feed one, two, or three. Three (or four) monitors on two systems is also an option, the second system will be used to display any information sources, downside is that you cannot copy and paste across two systems...unless there is an app for that.

Re: What monitor size, resolution, etc. works best with Flar
These days 23" monitors are not too expensive including the 2k models (2560x1440). Key here is to get two monitors or if the graphics card on your system can operate more a third one. Dual monitor is the bare minimum, three is in my opinion the best. More is not necessarily better. I have at wo...
