Variables : not case-sensitive
Hello everyone I am having a slight issue with variables :x . For a few variables, I have created "duplicates" to accomodate for when the variable is at the start of a sentence and needs to start with a capital letter, i.e. Variable name Definition model catchment (variable used in most ca...

Hi Lisa
Thanks for your reply. I will have a play with the MadCap|miniTocProxy and MadCap|breadcrumbsProxy tags and will post if I run into problems.

Horizontal lines between proxys
Hello everyone It's been a long time since I posted here so I may be a bit rusty. I am using a master page with a breadcrumbs proxy and a mini TOC proxy. When I preview a topic or compile my HTML output, I get a standard horizontal line below my breadcrumbs proxy and above my mini TOC proxy. Can I f...

Re: question about the HTML Help Icon
Hi there Do you often clean your output directory? Do this as a first instance and re-build. Test the output. If it is still not working, try going to your skin, then to the HTML Help Setup tab. Once there, click on the TOC Options button. Then, make sure the 'Use folder icons for books ' is unticke...

rectangle settings (hidden shape + no outline)
Hello I have been using Flare for a while and my company bought a copy of Capture that I have just started to use (version 3). I would like to add some text to some screenshots but only seem to be able to do so by creating a shape (bubble or rectangle). My screenshot has got a lot of different colou...

Re: tough stuff for the real stuff - advanced puzzlers to try
[edit2] the way i did this doesnt translate well to CHM based help systems :-/ Hi there Just wondering what you meant by that (do the rounded corners appear or not?) and is the behaviour in your opinion browser-dependent? Just being curious as I have managed to implement rounded corners (see some o...

Re: Background image specified in Body tag
Hi Lisa and Paul, Your solution works :P , Lisa, but I am puzzled as just using body classes definitely used to work for us in the past. Thanks for your detailed post with all the info I needed to implement this. BTW, I use master pages but was only using two up to now : one for the topics and one f...

Re: Background image specified in Body tag
Hi Lisa Thank you for your input, I will try your solution, but I do not understand why I would need to use masterpages in this particular case. My topics all use the same master page but their body class differs, depending if the class is body.A or body.B. Theoretically, this should work, shouldn't...

Re: Background image specified in Body tag
Hi! Using the <body> tag to set the image seems to produce unexpected results - the image does not appear in the WebHelp target, but does show up (without the Master Page positioning applied) in the XML editor view and in the Preview! Karen Sorry to butt in but I have similar issues with body class...

Re: snippets & conditions
Anyway, if you could suggest a solution, I would be glad to hear about it ! DoCo Hi there Sorry, have not been browsing the forums lately. My workaround to this was to create 6 different snippets so I had no conditions on these for the problematic topics. These topics do not have tables. I now use ...

I occasionally have special characters for formulaes and have been inserting them as special characters. I basically enter the character and Flare fills in for me the Unicode in the Quick Char...

+ and - signs in the TOC
Hi all I am having a "thick" day today and somehow ended up with a CHM in which the TOC pane does not show + or - signs in front of books, indicating that they can be or have been expanded. TOC.gif I have checked in TocEntry (Skin Editor, Styles tab) that all TOC icons were set to "No...

Re: Default browser (viewer) for CHM files
Thank you, Lisa, Kevin and Paul for your expert comments 8) . I have indeed noticed differences (mainly in positioning & sizing, as Lisa said), as well as image rendering differences (as far as transparency is concerned). However, as Paul mentioned, most issues I can probably live with (Am I not...

Re: Default browser (viewer) for CHM files
Hi Kevin
That is what I suspected. Thanks for your valuable input.
I still want to make sure that my HTM files will look good no matter what the browser in case we upgrade our Help to WebHelp (which I am dying for).
So is the browser compatibility is only an issue with WebHelp then?

Default browser (viewer) for CHM files
Hi everyone I produce some HTML Help files (CHM) and have been making sure that my XML/HTML (CSS) is compatible with most browsers (Internet Explorer has been causing me some grief). However I am not sure of what happens when our users open our CHM files ( ). If they have IE as default browse...

Glossary term links & glossary popups: how to style them?
Hello everyone I am currently working on my project's glossary for which the glossary terms have been inserted as links in the relevant topics(My output is strictly on-line and it is HTML Help). I did not select any style class (expanding, popup, hyperlink) when I added some entries directly to the ...

Tables : which autofit behaviour would you recommend?
Morning all I have relatively large tables in my projects and have been experimenting a bit with the autofit behaviour (I generate HTML Help). I have narrow it down to two possibilities, either AutoFit to Contents or AutoFit to Window and do not know which option would be the best. I am thinking of ...
