MadCap Software To Become MadCap Softwear

La Jolla, CA, USA – April 1, 2009 – MadCap Software, the leader in multi-channel content authoring and a showcase company for Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft XPS, today announced that the company was shifting its focus from native XML, state-of-the-art Help Authoring Tool Software to manufacturing MadCap-designed clothing, starting with t-shirts and beanie hats.

As part of this initiative, the company also announced plans to convert its La Jolla, CA offices into a retail boutique, as well as open stores in other southern California markets.

“We’ve always had a very positive response to the MadCap t-shirts and other merchandise we’ve given away at trade shows,” said MadCap CEO Anthony Olivier. “Based on that, this seemed like a reasonable way to grow our business moving forward. And we look forward to applying the principles of XML-based, single-source, multi-channel publishing – the same principles that have made Flare so tremendously successful - to the world of fashion.”

Forward-Thinking Change of Direction
Just three years after MadCap took the HAT world by storm, the company feels it is primed to capture new markets. Michael Hamilton, MadCap vice president, product management, said “From day one, Flare has been very competitive in the HAT world. There’s no reason to think we won’t do extremely well when it comes to actual hats.” Hamilton added, "Our developers have always had a lot of creativity, so it was a natural transition for them to go from creating Flare to creative flair."

Availability and Pricing
You can see MadCap's existing fashion line at http://www.madcapsoftware.com/store/c-13-madwear.aspx. The designs are available for 19.95 per shirt during this special introductory period. New designs are planned to start from $49.99 to $199.99. Discounts for bulk orders are also available.

199.99 for an official MadCap Beanie Hat seems like a bargain. Can't wait to see Paris Hilton and all the other social elite strutting around in their MadWear. Just think you can create a logo for a hat and single source it to pants, underwear, shirts, and dog collars. Sounds like a great move IMO.

Help Authoring Tool Development < Fashion Design.

I think that at these prices, the clothing is going to be a bargain for dieters, as long as the stylesheet remains editable.

Just imagine, shed those extra pounds and all you have to do is set the <pants> tag's waitsize attribute to your new measurement, I'm sure that there will be unit options for Jr, Misses, and Womens sizes.

If you like stretch fabrics better, just set the waistsize using % instead, 99% being skin-tight and 110% being a little more modest. This will be perfect for your Thanksgiving Dinner outfit!

And of course, the <cloth> tag's color and texture attributes will make your outfit coordination possibilities endless!

Where do I order???

Oooh, I wonder how much my official MadCap beanie hat will go for on eBay.
