So... Any News About Flare 7?
I think Flare 6 was released in March 2010.
Looking forward to seeing what's coming.

Fingers crossed, Flare does seem to have a short major version cycle so something must be in the pipeline. And each major release always has some innovative new features

Re: So... Any News About Flare 7?
Here's hoping...
After the emotional crash that always follows Christmas, as we swelter in 40C plus conditions and no relief (either in time off from work or from the weather) in sight 'til Easter, expecting a new software release is all we have to look forward to. Microsoft, bless 'em, try to satisfy by having weekly and monthly bug fixes, but these just don't seem to do it. If anything Microsoft patches are like that big Christmas parcel that once unwrapped reveals so much packaging and a copy of a book that you've read and from an author you despise. Such a let down after so much expectation.
But Madcap have a track record of releasing major updates annually, if only to lift our spirits after having them dashed by the end of the festive season and releases by Microsoft...

I feel your pain. We have breathtaking freezing rain -- on top of last week's snow. We are the new polar ice cap.

I spent a few years in Yuma. I loved the summer and still disliked winter, though not as fiercely as dislike them now.
It got into the 40's quite frequently during the night. I miss those 110 summer days. Man, I wish there was work there.

I can leave a big box outside for a couple of hours, then tape it up and send it to you.trent the thief wrote:...I miss those 110 summer days..
Trouble is, the box might get wet as it goes through Queensland (currently experiancing a grade 5 cyclone) on its way north...

I appreciate your offer. But I know how hard it is to ship boxes that have bits of cyclone in them, so I'll pass.

we're all looking forward to Flare 7.
If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release

Looking forward to some game changing approaches to native DITA authoring. Not easy, but innovations to simplify authoring with DITA isn't necessarily a bad thing.Robotman wrote:I think Flare 6 was released in March 2010.

Flare seems to be leading the HATT consistently in terms of emphasizing small but important innovations with each major release, but competition tends to follow up closely not too long after.

The Madcap guys normally release 1 version a year, so I would think Version 7 should be out fairly soon

Fortunately South Australia is well out of the way! My friends and colleagues up in Far North Queensland are doing it tough, but the damage was nowhere near as severe as expected. I just hope my coffee supplier can get their servers back up, and didn't suffer any damage, so I can order some more beans

Note, if you create .chm files, AVOID v7!!
It has some serious bugs that make many chms unusable.

Re: So... Any News About Flare 7?
It might be more accurate to say that .CHMs that include popups are exhibiting the buggy behavior in Flare 7 and it's best to avoid 7 for those projects until the problem is fixed. My .CHMs that don't include popups seem to be behaving just fine when generated from Flare 7.samjones6 wrote:Note, if you create .chm files, AVOID v7!!
