Hi guys,
this might be a totally silly question, but here goes:
I am setting up a layout style sheet and need to have a vertical line on my page. I can't seem to figure out how to do that in Flare! Do I need to bring an image in from Adobe Illustrator?

Re: Drawing a vertical line
You can put one in the PageLayout (for print mode) with a decoration frame (or image frame).

Never tried it, but you might:
Add a border-left or border-right to the body. If that goes along with a margin-left or margin-right, it might work.

That's how I would do it
If you submit your bug feedback request here, the more likely it'll get fixed or included in a future release

What does that do to the size of the file? Earlier experiences tell me that a background image on each page could boost it into the Nirvana ... but maybe they have learned and now it's better?forfear wrote:That's how I would do itlacastle wrote:You can put one in the PageLayout (for print mode) with a decoration frame (or image frame).
And: That would work for "print output" like pdf or word, right? Does that change printing online contents like WebHelp?

Re: Drawing a vertical line
The PageLayout doesn't have anything to do with online targets. You would use MasterPages for that. but in this case, a border on the body tag might work, although it would cover everything (including headings) and i'm not sure if it would continue down a printed online help page since technically the body tag can stop anywhere on the page.i-tietz wrote:And: That would work for "print output" like pdf or word, right? Page Layouts are only used in print outputs; so I guess the question is do you want to have this line in print, help, or both?i-tietz wrote:What does that do to the size of the file? You don't have to add the line as an image in the page layout; you can add a border to any frame in a page layout. So you could add the border to the body frame (if it is the right size), or add a decoration frame and set a border on that.
Re: Drawing a vertical line
The headings are INSIDE the body - how could a body line extend into the contained heading? Or do you mean page headers and footers? Even then I think the "body" only uses the space between header and footer.lacastle wrote:although it would cover everything (including headings)
True. Never tried, but could be possible.lacastle wrote:and i'm not sure if it would continue down a printed online help page since technically the body tag can stop anywhere on the page.

Re: Drawing a vertical line
i didn't really mean "into" but next to. i don't know if the original poster wanted just the paragraph text to have a line or the headings at the top as well.i-tietz wrote:The headings are INSIDE the body - how could a body line extend into the contained heading?
