Re: Glossary proxy - alpha headings repeating for every entr
Unfortunately, this release seems a bit buggy to me. We're holding off on moving to it until they get some of these issues resolved.

Submit a bug to MadCap. I tested this on my project, and I had the same problem. It's not something in your stylesheet ... my stylesheet doesn't have any styles at all configured for the glossary proxy stuff ... div.GlossaryPageDefinition, div.GlossaryPageEntry, div.GlossaryPageHeading, div ...

Re: multiple guides in one project?
I think it really depends on how much overlap there is between the different guides. If there isn't any overlap, and you have completely unique targets, I would use multiple Flare projects.

Broken related topics links in Flare 2017 r2
When I generate my output, extra folder links are inserted into the paths of any related topics links that point to a bookmark. See the attached image. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this issue? Any related topics links that do NOT point to a bookmark seem to be fine.

Re: Compiler: Microsoft Word is not installed
I ran into the same problem with Office 2016, but I did a full repair and that fixed the issue. I do seem to recall having to do it a couple of times, though. If that doesn't work, check to make sure the .doc and .docx file extensions are associated with Word. I got a new laptop right after Flare 12 ...

Re: Table rows alternating colours?
In that case, the only thing I can think of is to create a style class for shaded rows (e.g. tr.shaded), then apply the style to each row that you want to be shaded.

Re: Issue with images and conditions
It almost seems as if the build process pulls over all images at the beginning of the build, then only removes the images that are specifically excluded. I have no idea if that's how it really works, but it may as well.

Re: Issue with images and conditions
I knew that include overrides exclude, I just thought the exclude content option would make conditions on the images unnecessary since they wouldn't be linked. I guess I was wrong. :cry:

Re: Single Glossary for Multiple Related Volumes
You can't select a glossary outside of the project. However, you import the glossary from one project into another. When you create the import file, select the "Auto-reimport before Generate Output" option. When you re-generate the output, Flare will automatically re-import the glossary from the ...

Re: ToC Page Numbers for PDF Displays Box
I don't think it's a style issue. I may be totally wrong here, but my guess is that you're getting the gray box because the TOC is hitting a null value for some reason. I don't, however, know WHY that would be happening. I'd suggest that you start by trying to figure out what these TOC entries have ...

Re: Table rows alternating colours?
Personally, I never use Flare's table styles because the code generated by it is incredibly bulky, and I'm OCD about that kind of thing. At any rate, here's a little code snippet that will give you alternating row colors:
tr:nth-of-type(2n+1)

background-color: #F3F3F3;

Issue with images and conditions
I have a highly conditionalized Flare project - it supports six separate applications, using conditions to exclude/include the appropriate content for each application. Each application has its own target and condition tag. Each target is set to include the condition for that app, and exclude all ...

Re: Skin - Logo question
No, the logo settings are managed within the skin settings, so you'll have to create multiple skins. The only way around that would be to manually replace the logo in your publishing destination, using the same file name as the logo in the skin settings. You'd probably only have to do that once ...

Re: Format auto-numbers as "01, 02, etc"
I don't see a way to do this either. I thought maybe {nn} would work to specify the number of digits, but no dice. The only thing I can think of would be to create a separate style class for the first 9 chapters. Something like this:
h1
{
mc-auto-number-format: '{chapnum}';
}
h1 ...

Re: Word wrapping in frames
You could try setting a value for white space. The default value is usually normal (which allows text to wrap), but it could be set to nowrap (which prevents text from wrap) in Flare's stylesheets. So in your stylesheet, add this declaration to whatever element you're trying to wrap:
white-space ...

Re: Review processes outside of using Contributor
I typically just use Word for reviewing Flare topics, just because it doesn't require my SMEs to learn how to use Contributor. They typically find the interface confusing and require a lot of handholding. At any rate, to answer your question, I don't think there is a way to import the changes in ...

Styling equations in Flare 12
I don't seem to be able to style equations in Flare 12. I'm using the exact same styles that I was using for Flare 11, but the equations aren't the same font, color, anything. Here's the style I'm currently using:

Re: Flare 12: No Usable Workflow for Equations
I just discovered the "improvements" for the equation editor in Flare 12. I have to say that I'm very disappointed. I don't understand why you would strip a perfectly good equation editor. This new version is complete garbage. I'm re-installing Flare 11 as we speak. Thanks MadCap.

Re: Export Translations to Existing Flare Project
Were you able to find a way to do this? We haven't started doing translation yet, but we're about to. When I was reading through the quick start guide for Lingo, this is the exact concern that I had. It seems like any changes to the translated project will be lost every time there's an update. If ...

Re: Adding a symbols as glossary terms
The simplest way that I have found is to insert the symbol into a topic, copy it, then paste it into a new term in your glossary. There's quite a few symbols in Flare's Character window ( Insert > Insert Character... > Insert Character ). You can also copy symbols from Word.

Mark of the Web and PDFs
Is there a workaround for linking PDFs when Mark of the Web is enabled? I have a PDF file that I want to link to, but the link doesn't work because Mark of the Web is enabled. I don't want the security warning to pop-up every time the users open the help, so I'd rather not disable Mark of the Web ...

Has anyone gotten CSS media queries to work with Flare's outputs? I've tried HTML Help, WebHelp, and HTML5 outputs, and I can't get it to work.
