I know it is in a license email, but I dont have access to that from my authoring environment.

How to publish "new and changed" pages list?
We are in Flare 2017 r2, w output to html5.
We constantly maintain our help file. We would like to publish a "pages that are new or changed"
This should be automated (so we dont forget to maintain it)
How do we do this?

Re: Interface a bit scrunched
Welllllll, it is 2016..... and 1) The Surface 4 ROCKS. (It is significantly hotter than my desktop, has i7 processor, 500GB SSD, hot hot hot) 2) Flare doesn't work on it. I have found no way at all, so far, to get Flare usable in any way on the Surface. This is with the latest 11.1.2 version of Flar...

Re: Why go with Flare over Robohelp?
Lisa, one of my main concerns is which tool is better at producing a wide variety of help formats (with as little pain as possible). At this point, I an not certain what types of output I may need to produce (WebHelp, PDF, Mobile, etc.) so whatever tool I select needs to be able to (more or less) h...

Re: Why go with Flare over Robohelp?
The problems samjones6 has reported in other threads aren't common to other Flare users. You are mistaken. Over %90 of the issues I have reported have been either reproduced by Madcap support and/or opened as bugs by Madcap support (which they only do for serious issues that they acknowledge, not f...

Re: Why go with Flare over Robohelp?
Most recently, I used Flare 7 to create online help. I just started a new job where an authoring tool has not yet been ordered but mgmt is leaning towards RoboHelp 9. I haven't used RoboHelp in at least 6 years (version I last used was probably RoboHelp 5). Would like to hear from those of you who ...

That is, sadly, what I was afraid of. In the whole life of 7.x there has been woefully little bug fixing.
Flare would seem to be a dead product.

The only update I saw was one in the Aug/Sept frame, that had almost nothing in it.
Are the madcap guys fixing bugs, or just working on loads of new features ?

Why the Flare editor is so buggy... clues
As you know, I consistently have found the editor to be really buggy when driven from the keyboard. Today, I received back from Flare support, related to a bug I reported: Using your topic, I have traced this issue down to the inclusion of a variable with a space after it. I have submitted a bug rep...

Re: Flare 7.1: What is your fix count?
Still waiting on notices for fixes for it in 6.0 or bugs opened 2 years ago - things that never made 7.0, wonder if it's worth pinging them to see if they are in 7.1. FWIW, there is a big bug that I reported back in Flare v4 (when we evaluated it) that we then also reported in 6.0, that is now fixe...

Shift+End. Correct. Sorry I have that wrong in the shot. Quite unique really. Unique in what sense? The editor is full of broken behaviors on standard keyboard movement. v7.1 fixed three or four that I had reported. This is just the one I found yesterday.... (And I have almost not used Flare this m...

Re: Editor: Pressing ctrl-G takes 20-30% CPU and 2-4 seconds to
I'm curious though, did none of these issues arise during any testing of Flare prior to purchase? This was a huge failure on my part. I did two or three large cycles of pre-purchase evaluation, and failed to see the problems in Flare. It should, perhaps, have been a red flag though, that during the...

Re: spell check: Is the word "cancelled" misspelled in Flare?
Ah yes, when one runs out of arguments, fall back to mindless Flare bashing. Ummmmm, I asked the community for examples of ANY widely used software that behaves the way Flare does. My point is simply: Flare diverges from standard behavior (defined as how MS Word, Chrome, FireFox and other applicati...

Re: Editor: Pressing ctrl-G takes 20-30% CPU and 2-4 seconds to
In X5, RH treated index keywords at the topic level, and not more fine-grained. Correct. Works great, and no need to mess with conditions at the index-entry level (a huge time and complexity savings, though at the cost of some index entries you can't make due to conditionality). I can tell you stra...

Re: spell check: Is the word "cancelled" misspelled in Flare?
If you prefer the behavior of the Word spell checker, you can create a Word target and dump everything into it and run your "whole project" spell check in there. This is what I do; the in-line spell check in Flare works nice to catch errors while typing, but I don't like the experience of...

Re: spell check: Is the word "cancelled" misspelled in Flare?
The Oxford dictionary clearly indicates that the US spelling is with one 'l' and the UK spelling is with two 'l's. OED is certainly a valid authority. But: - Can you find another piece of software (prevalent software) that is strict the way Flare is? I have tried four super-popular spell checkers, ...

As Andrew has said - it's almost certainly your region settings. If your region is UK-English then 'Canceled' will be flagged as incorrect while 'Cancelled' will be correct. If your region is US-English 'Canceled' will be correct whilst 'Cancelled' will be flagged as incorrect. Andrew wrote: "...

Re: spell check: Is the word "cancelled" misspelled in Flare?
If you set your local to US English (as you've said you did above) then the spelling of 'cancelled' is incorrect. In US English the correct spelling is 'canceled'. This is what Flare is telling you. Can you help me understand the source for "In US English there is only one l in cancelled"...
