Re: Flare 9 HTML5 and TocPath in page links

Has anyone found a solution to this yet? The Flare 2017 code changed so this old fix no longer works.

Yep, that was the first place I looked and I tried the solution described there, and it didn't work.

Entered a support ticket on this.

TOC Proxy for PDF Output No Longer Working

We upgraded to Flare 2017 and now our PDF TOCs are empty. I've verified that this is the case for ALL PDF outputs from this one project. I changed NOTHING since upgrading a few days ago - all settings remain unchanged. The TOC is just now empty except for the topic heading Contents. Seriously, this ...

Re: Responsive Tripane Output Messes Up TOC Links

That's exactly what the problem was. Based on those other posts, and with zero useful help from Madcap support I might add, I removed the offending code and the problem went away.

Responsive Tripane Output Messes Up TOC Links

So my boss in his infinite wisdom decided he didn't like the modern Flare Top Navigation output because he likes the tripane output (he thinks of online help as printed guides with chapters that he can page through). Anyway, we also have to produce responsive help. Using Flare 11, I changed the outp...

Re: Why are my screenshots too small in PDF output?

D'oh.

I figured it out - the screenshots that are too small have a resolution that's too big. Once I reduce the resolution of each image, they look fine in the PDF.
Let that be a lesson to me.

Thanks!

Re: Why are my screenshots too small in PDF output?

The target option for downsampling images is not selected. I did turn off Automatically resize low DPI images in File > Options (I didn't even know it was there!) but it fixed only one image. There's a second image in the same topic that is the same size but that didn't change.

Why are my screenshots too small in PDF output?

Very peculiar behavior I'm seeing. All of my screenshots, all of them, are perfect in my HTML output but in my PDF output they're all reduced to tiny size (NOT thumbnail size, just really small). When I open them up in Flare's image/capture editor, the Print Size in File Properties > Format is too s...

Lingo 8 + Flare 10 -> Lingo 9 +Flare 11 Migration

Has anyone moved from using Lingo 8 with Flare 10 projects to Lingo 9 with Flare 11? I've been looking in the documentation and forums and can't seem to find anything. Madcap's documentation on migration issues is unfortunately woefully inadequate. I'm basically wondering if our Lingo 8 translation ...

dropDownHotspot:hover CSS issue in Chrome

This style, defined in MainStyles.css for my Top Nav HTML5 output, seems to be applied to all headings in my output but only in Chrome. MadCap|dropDownHotspot:hover The result is that all of my headings change from bold to normal when I roll my mouse over them. Keep in mind that I'm NOT using dropDo...

Migrating Flare 10 Webhelp Project to Flare 11 Top Nav?

I can't seem to find this information anywhere, so I'll ask here:

Has anyone successfully migrated a Flare 10 non-HTML5 webhelp project to Flare 11 and successfully added an HTML 5 Top Navigation output?
I'm looking for a summary of main steps and any gotchas.

Thanks in advance,

MC

Cannot center search bar on Home page of Top Nav output

Okay, so here's my problem: I'm using the top nav HTML 5 output and I'm trying to center the search bar under my title on the home page (my title is centered and appears perfectly in web, tablet and mobile ouptuts), similar to how it appears in the Flare online help home page. No matter what I do, t...

Annoying Black Background No Matter What I Do

Every time I create a new image with callouts in Capture, the background ends up being black once I save the file. Doesn't matter what file format I save it as (I've tried bmp, jpeg, png), as soon as I select the image, which looks normal in Capture, in Flare the image has a black background. Is the...

Re: Pretty basic SVN question

Thanks for the links. I will check them out when I have time. Apparently, we were told by Flare that there's an import function in Flare 10 that's undocumented - Import Project - that nobody here saw because it's at the bottom of the File menu and you have to click the little down arrow to see it. I...

Re: Pretty basic SVN question

I find this entire Flare-SVN subject almost beyond my capacity to understand. My eyes have already glazed over three times reading this thread. What's a trunk? What's a tag? What's a working copy root? Source control should be AUTOMATIC, not trial and error. In my case, we upgraded from Flare 8 to F...

Re: Subversion - Nullable Object

Well we solved OUR nullable object problem. In our case, a reboot of the server on which Subversion resides did the trick.

Rebooting. Isn't that silly? But it worked.

Re: Subversion - Nullable Object

I am having the exact same error with Flare 8 and Subversion. I had to remove the project from source control because it wouldn't let me check any files in (Flare would hang and I had to close the Flare process manually). Thinking that I would try over from scratch, I removed all files from source c...

Re: Which folders do I need to publish WebHelp?

Is there a way to remove output/webhelp from the final directory path? if you are using the Publish option, your files can go anywhere, at any level. there are no output/webhelp directories. here is the flare help page about publishing - http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare7/Content/Output/Creat...

Which folders do I need to publish WebHelp?

When I publish my WebHelp project, it creates multiple directories and subdirectories. Seems like there are many more directories than I need, and some of the information (the actual help content) is duplicated. Which directories do I need to "publish" for our customers to be able to acces...

Table Trouble - Setting Internal Borders

Somebody posted something similar to this, but I could not decipher the solution, so I'm posting this question. We have running headers and footers that require a single row table with no borders to display two items at the top of each printed page (chapter and section, respectively). I set the bord...
