Re: Snippets slow performance?
My snippets are rather large... several paragraphs. Is there a maximum size restriction for snippets before they cause the local machine to slow to a crawl?

Snippets slow performance?
Has anyone found that when using snippets, local machine performance is significantly slower (like 30-40% Flare in background)?
I am using Flare 7 and have the SVN Flare interface.

Re: XML Editor not WYSIWYG
I tried creating a new project and had the same result. I have no WYSIWYG XML Editor. I can't work.

Re: Forum search is inadequate
An alternative is to use Google, which finds occurrences of the text strings that the forum search tool does not.

Forum search is inadequate
Flare's forum search is inadequate. I am not getting the WYSIWYG screen when I click XML Editor. Instead, I get partial code with colored tags. This stops me from being able to work. I posted this yesterday in the WebHelp forum. I had tried to search on "XML Editor" with and without the parenthesis ...

Re: surrogate pair error
I had to look in every single topic with this error, find the bulleted list and change the list. It was very time consuming. I'm doing an import of a 1500 page FrameMaker book set. I've estimated about 300 hours to complete the formatting issues. The numbered lists couldn't be mapped, since there ...

XML Editor not WYSIWYG
My XML Editor looks like the following screen shot and displays the code with colored tags. It is not WYSIWYG. How do I get the WYSIWYG display back?

Re: A strange SAVE error
In a bulleted list created through Flare, there were boxes in the code for the bullets. I deleted those and the WebHelp compiles.

surrogate pair error
There is a surrogate pair compile error but I did not find an error in the code. I checked the code with a 3rd party error checker and only got an error for the upper case used in "MadCap".

This error prevents compling the WebHelp.
This string started in 2008. What is the fix for this?
Thank you.

Re: A strange SAVE error - Surrogate pair
Is this still a bug? I got the same error. I have searched the code for an offending character and have not found one. I used CSE HTML Validator and got messages about the invalid use of "MadCap" case. However, that isn't a problem in other topics.

I think we will have to agree to disagree.
I really had to open each topic to find these. The report didn't give me a list of the offending files.
I used to the Adobe MVPs reporting bugs rather than end users. Good to know.

Re: Failed to update: The 'body' start tag on line...
The messages were not related to x-refs. Nor were they related to the topics listed in the report.
The solution was to open every topic individually from within the rather large project. I found a few files that did not have a <p> before a variable name. The topics were not the ones listed on the ...

Re: Failed to update: The 'body' start tag on line...
I have attached a complete view of the code. There is a <body> and </body> tag. This is from the file in the generated WebHelp output.
The <body> tag does not appear to be on line 6, as the message suggests, so I'm not sure what report generator considered to be line 12. I highlighted what would be ...

Re: Failed to update: The 'body' start tag on line...
I am using the default master page.
The output file is shown here along with the error message. The paragraph tags look fine. The line is not 458 characters long.
I don't see the error or what would be wrong with the master page.
Suggestions? Thanks.

Please see the attached screen print. You can see that the same error messages are repeated. The same messages point to different files. The files are fine. I think the report Flare generates is off.

Re: Failed to update: The 'body' start tag on line...
I checked the code before I posted. As I mentioned in the post:
Some of the files don't have the line mentioned.
The other files have no problem with the code. In many cases a line of code exactly the same is above the line in question.
For example, the <body> tag is fine. The line in question ...

Re: Find and replace XHTML tags in multiple topics?
My xref link was bad. So, I dragged and dropped a new one in and now I have a different style. I'll have to fix that on my end.
Still, I don't know why Flare would change xrefs as the result of a search/replace. It is all fixable.

Re: Find and replace XHTML tags in multiple topics?
There are xref errors. I used Beyond Compare and found the xref names were changed after the global search and replace. Underlines were added to the xref. (See the image attached.)
I didn't have these compile errors until after the search and replace, so that is curious.
