Re: HTML5 publish
I was so relieved to find these posts! I've been unable to post updates to my project for weeks - the content just would not display! I found it very strange, since my project is about 3 years old - and I've never encountered this problem before. So THANK YOU to those who posted solutions for this ...

Re: Images change in PDF output
Thanks for your response. I tried your suggestion to save in a different format, and that didn't seem to work.
This doesn't make any sense to me, but it seems that it might have resolved the issue. I went into my target Advanced tab, and de-selected Auto-size Capture objects to fit text. I'm not ...

Images change in PDF output
I'm publishing my WebHelp files to a PDF output. I've only published to PDF output a couple of times. I'm noticing some problems with images, and can't seem to find a solution.
For the most part, my images are displaying as they should.
However, several images are coming out pretty strange ...

Re: Embed Code from Wistia
Thanks for your reply.
I found another post that I think gave me the answer. Actually, a couple of answers. The code does not include the http: reference for the path to the video, and the allowfullscreen attributes need values. I've made those changes, and am currently building my Flare project ...

Embed Code from Wistia
Hello everyone,
I've started creating videos that we are publishing to Wistia.com
I am trying to use the Embed code supplied on the Wistia site to embed the video in my WebHelp.

Re: Movie Frame Size
I've tried the popup target frame, but with mixed results. In one instance, even though I've selected popup window, it still opens in the same browser window. In another instance, it does open in a popup window, but cuts off the bottom of the movie. When I click off the movie, to go back to the ...

Re: Movie Frame Size
No, I have not received feedback on this topic. I just got back to this project a week or 2 ago, and am experimenting with various ways to create and publish my short demos. I have found that, for my purposes, the best approach is to create Flash output, and embed the demos into my WebHelp. But, I'm ...

Re: Google Translate Script
Hi Kellie,
I've been away on vacation, so have not looked at this for a couple of weeks and probably will not get to it again before next week. So far, no progress, but I'll post again if I'm able to figure anything out.

Google Translate Script
I've inserted the script for Google Translate into my master page and am pretty pleased with the results - except that in addition to the Google dropdown box, after the first time a selection is made from the dropbox, I am also getting a Google Translate bar across the top of my pages.

Re: Can I isololate the topics related to a TOC?
In case anyone else needs it, this is the solution that I got from MadCap support:
You can get a list of files associated with a TOC by generating a report within Flare. You will first need to set the desired TOC as your "Primary" TOC. You can do this by right-clicking on the TOC and selecting ...

Can I isololate the topics related to a TOC?
I'm preparing my files to go to the translator for a quote. My project contains topics that are related to several TOCs. I need to submit my translation project for only one of those TOCs and its related files. I think that I can get the list of files with Analyzer? I can't find that option, though ...

Working with transaltors & conditional text
Just wondering if anyone has encountered this, or found a solution. I have sent my Webhelp files (a Lingo bundle) to the translator that our company uses to translate our application interface - this is preferable because they are familiar with our industry terminology. However, they do not use ...

Re: Deep Linking to Flare Topics
What we do now - until we start publishing to HTML5 - is send two links - one for the topic, which opens without navigation, and a second link for the WebHelp that will open with navigation - not a perfect solution, but that's how we work around it for now.

Re: Blank page displayed in internet explorer
For our application, it was ok to turn Compatibility mode on and off, because it is unlikely that a user would open help while using that particular module - it is a small, seldom-used part of our application without online help. So, I can't really say what would happen if both were open at the same ...

Re: Blank page displayed in internet explorer
I am always having problems with Internet Explorer - just when I think I've got it all fixed, another issue pops up. I was having some display problems yesterday after publishing, and found a menu item in IE tools - Developer Tools - F12 . For me, selecting HTML / Cache / Always Refresh from Server ...

Re: IE output - TM symbol / apostrophe
I have been using the Quick Character TM - that is actually the one that I was having the initial problem with. I've changed it to a superscript, as Ramon suggested (thanks Ramon - can't believe I didn't think of that!).
Anyway, I'm still re-publishing, but hopefully that will work.

Thanks Ramon (especially for the comment about my site <:)
For me, the display of the symbols, so far, is sporadic - I opened my browser a few times yesterday, and sometimes the symbols appeared fine, and sometimes garbled.

Is anyone else having this problem with IE - or know a workaround? I've noticed it recently in IE9 - I haven't gone back to see how it looks in IE8, Everything looks ok in Chrome. This is in my published WebHelp.

Re: Use Lingo even if translator uses something else?
Thanks - that's great advice. The translator that the company uses is the one that translates the screens for the application - but, still, I don't know if they know our industry terminology.

Use Lingo even if translator uses something else?
I need to have my WebHelp translated to French Canadian, and then later on to a few other languages. The translator that the company uses does not have MadCap Flare or Lingo. I think it still makes sense for me to use Lingo to package the files to send to the translator? I'm not 100% clear on how ...

Re: Orderer list issues in IE8 and earlier
I haven't imported any files - any content that I have taken from Word, I've copied and pasted into my Flare topics - so I don't think it would be coming from anything like that.
I regenerated my project so that I could look at the log.

Movie Frame Size
I'm planning my first Mimic project, and could use some advice on how to start out for the right size output. At first, I thought that I could take my fullsize recorded screenshots, and then adjust them later for the smaller size output. But after reading a few other posts, I'm realising that the ...
