Thanks to all who chimed in, here. I appreciate the information - my conditions are complex and the more I know the more accurate I can make my outputs.
Thanks,
Adriana

Conditions, levels, and includes overriding excludes
Hi everyone,
I am still relatively new to Flare using version 7. I have a large, single-sourced project with several (six and counting) conditions varying from print-only to screen-only, to various audiences. I have a few general questions about how Flare handles conditional coding.

Re: Including/linking a PDF in Webhelp Output
Thanks again. It would appear that it's related to the size of the PDF. I broke up the one large one into several smaller ones and they open just fine in Firefox (also in Chrome and IE, but the large one was OK in those browsers, too) as a bigger size, and can be saved and printed.

Hi Ramon,
Thanks for the reply. I actually figured out a piece of this issue - but here's an update.

Including/linking a PDF in Webhelp Output
Hi all,
Using Flare 7 to create a webhelp output. I also (using the same project and files) have created a PDF output which I have mapped into my project using External Resources.
I've added a hyperlink to that PDF in one of my topics - but when I generate my webhelp output, the link doesn't work ...

Re: Xref working in webhelp; not in PDF
I've submitted this to Flare as a bug and been told that there are presently no workarounds available for the issue. Here's hoping we'll get a fix at some point!
Thanks,

Re: Xref working in webhelp; not in PDF
Hi everyone,
I have an update that might help shed some light.
So I deleted the target and the TOC because they weren't working, so of no good to me. I started again, smaller this time, with two 'books' instead of all my books. Here are my results:

Hi all,
Using Flare 7 and a single project, single-sourcing to webhelp output and PDF outputs. I'm having some trouble with my cross-references.

Re: Including PDFs in webhelp outputs - best practice
On another note,
Is there some type of mini-index proxy (I realize that there is not, but could be called something else?), similar to a mini-TOC that would only capture index entries per PDF?
Thanks,
Adriana

Re: Including PDFs in webhelp outputs - best practice
Thanks. I have edited my PDFTOCTopic to use a mini-toc proxy instead of a full toc proxy and the TOCs in the PDFs are blank except for the Table of Contents heading. I thought at first it was because I had set my depth to 1(I only wanted the H1's to show up in the TOC), but then I adjusted the ...

Re: Including PDFs in webhelp outputs - best practice
I've had a chance to play with the idea of a single PDF target creating multiple PDFs. This is working in practice except that the table of contents is a bit messed up.
There are no headings in the left-hand navigation column of the PDF when it's created. I've suppressed the bookmarks but I'd like ...

Re: Including PDFs in webhelp outputs - best practice
Hi Dave,
Thanks for the reply. I think both of your suggestions are good ones - I have been pulled off onto another project just now but I will try both of these when I get back to the Flare help.
Thank you very much!

Re: Including PDFs in webhelp outputs - best practice
Ok, well thanks for the information
Sadly, no. Originally, the help was only to be online. But over the past six months, the demand for PDFs is getting louder and louder and is now a requirement. So, my search about how to accommodate the need is on.

Re: Including PDFs in webhelp outputs - best practice
I need to create four PDFs per folder (topic maybe wasn't the best choice of term) - so I have a folder called SubjectA, with topics A-F. At the top of Topic A, I would say to print the PDF click HERE and then it would link to the appropriate PDF.
I will need a total of about 350 PDFs (and counting ...

Re: Export/access to skin
Thank you Lisa,

Chapter name in PDF header - new variable?
Hi all,
Using Flare 7.0 and working on my first PDF output. I use both webhelp and PDFs.

Does anyone know how to make the default width of the table of contents wider?
Thanks,

Thanks for the info and the additional discussion links - I'll check them out and decide if I want to live with the errors or just make a separate file

Error generating webhelp - separate alias files required?

Re: Bullet image disappeared
Sorry, my fault for not being clear. I'm saying they don't appear in the Webhelp output when I generate using the default CSS medium or the print CSS medium. But when I change the target to generate using the online css medium, I see them in the webhelp. So I'm wondering where the differences are in ...
