Re: How to copy a .pdf document into a Topic

For the benefit of any other "learners" - I found the answer to this myself eventually - you just copy the .pdf file into the Contents folder of your project, in the appropriate place, within Windows Explorer. Then in Flare it will appear as a file in your project Contents Explorer. You ca...

Re: How to position a table right of text?

Thanks Nita - that's very helpful. I think I have also discovered another way to achieve what you are describing - which is to use a text box, and put the table inside that. Flare seems to let you float text boxes easily (without having to go into the coding - which was what I was trying to avoid!!)...

How to position a table right of text?

Hi - I am trying to position a small table to the right of a paragraph of text (rather than above or below the text). I know you can do this with an image using "float right" - but is it also possible to do this (simply!) with a table? I have found the "align" option in Table Pro...

Re: Screen tip on Image

In the Preview window - are you suggesting it will only show when I compile the project?

Screen tip on Image

Hi - I am a writer not a techie, so bear with me if I don't use the right terminology! I want to attach a screen tip to an image (a small icon) which I use occasionally. I can see how to do that by editing the image and typing in the words I want in the Screen Tip box. I want the same words to appea...

Re: Can I use "Find in Files" to locate a specific Style?

Hi Lisa - fantastic, thanks so much. I didn't realise at first that a "Style" was also a "class" (I needed to find text in a particular colour which was a defined style) - but I've had a look in the text editor and got the info I need, and just successfully done the search - bril...

Can I use "Find in Files" to locate a specific Style?

Hi. I want to find any instances of a specific Style in my project. I know I can find a word or phrase using "Find in Files" but is it possible to do the same for a Style? I've tried searching various parts of the Help - but it keeps rejecting my query as all the words in "Find in Fil...

How to copy a .pdf document into a Topic

I am trying to paste an 8 page .pdf document into a Topic. When I use "Edit - copy to clipboard" - instead of copying the whole file, as I expected, it only copies the visible page - so I have to create 8 images and paste 8 times. Surely there must be a way to paste the whole thing in as a...

Re: How to stop a Drop Down overlapping an image

I solved this in the end by applying a solid background to the image, matching that of the page, so the drop down effectively wrapped round the image.

How to stop a DropDown overlapping an image

Hi - I am inexperienced in Flare and XML editing - I am a proofreader/editor and normally I use Word - so I am struggling when trying to edit webpages for my client. I have a Topic with an image (*.png file) in it. I have it set to float right. (There are various other Image Styles set up - I've tri...

Re: Bulleted Lists inside Table Cells

Thanks Laura and Lisa - yes I'm a newbie in anything to do with webpages!! I normally just work in Microsoft Word, so editing in Flare is something of a minefield to say the least! I don't want to start altering classes/styles at all if I can help it - (my role is as a proofreader/copy editor not a ...

Bulleted Lists inside Table Cells

Hi - newbie here so please be gentle! I'm trying to figure out how to put a bulleted list inside a table cell. If I do the obvious (create a few paragraphs them Format>List>Bullet list) - it messes up the column width, which becomes much wider than intended. If I insert a "fake" gap betwee...
