Hi guys,
I'm gleaning whatever wisdom you've provided here for my sister and bro-in-law, who want to convert a book that was written in Word to an ePub format for Amazon. The two problems are:
1. What converts Word files to ePub without starting over from scratch? and...
2. Photos are a big part of ...

Re: Duplicate styles at the bottom of my stylesheet
Thanks so much! Your explanation made it much clearer what happened and why. I'll have to go back and fix a few things, but going forward, I won't make some of the same mistakes.
Best regards,
Sandy

Re: Is it safe/possible to cut-and-paste stylesheet tags?
Thanks, guys!
I got two different approaches to the problem, and I may try both eventually.
One other question, though.
Last year, I used the style stacking technique shown to consolidate tags with similar values (see example below):
p.Note,

Is it safe/possible to cut-and-paste stylesheet tags?
Hi Propeller heads,
We are two writers (one does OLH, the other PDFs) in a small company, and don't have a CMS. Although our goal is to have one stylesheet for both deliverable types, at some point, we separated out our projects so I could mess with the templates without disturbing my partner.

Re: How to get two paragraphs on same line of TOC
I tried this, but I wasn't able to get the two heading tags and the line graphic to space properly when the Chapter title is short (1 line vs. 2 or 3). I'm sure it's possible to do, but I spent about 16 hours trying to get it all to work correctly, and either the spacing, the PDF bookmarks, the TOC ...

I feel your pain, Derek!
I have been working for weeks and weeks (surreptitiously) to create a Chapter Title H1 tag for my PDF that will:
1. Increment correctly in the TOC and the PDF

Re: How to get two paragraphs on same line of TOC
Thanks, whunter! I've tried several things that were *almost* the same, but I didn't realize that I could apply a span to the autonumber to completely not display, but still show in the TOC.
Next time I'm working on the problem I'll give that solution a try.
Best regards, Sandy

I joined this thread because I was hoping for a workaround solution for review PDFs.

To answer your question, when the PDF renders, the cross-reference (Table 2-1) does not appear at all. When I added the text "Table" to the x-ref and just tried to pull in the table number (2-1), only the word Table appears.

Re: Cross-refs for table captions not working
Thanks for the work around, Techwriter31, but I am still hoping that Flare provides a more elegant solution.
Maybe I'll just make them links rather than cross-refs. Not sure if that will work, but I'm trying to get a draft out here...

Cross-refs for table captions not working
Hi power users,
My default medium style sheet has Figure numbers and Table captions in the typical autonumber style

Re: Insert a line break in an autonumber?
Sorry--yes, I want the word "Step" above each number. Ideally, the step number would line up with the baseline of the step text that follows.
Step
1 a;lskdjf;alskdjf;alksdj las;dkfj alsd
Step
2 as;dlkf ;lakjdf a;lkfj ;lkajd f
etc.

Re: Insert a line break in an autonumber?
Hi Lisa,
Thanks for asking. I tried to format it here the way I wanted it, but multiple spaces don't display.
I want it:
Step
1 blah blah blah
with proper spacing, of course, to line up my text.
