Re: Upgraded to Flare 2022. Issues with Central sync
I've finished my tests and while it's basically working since I re-imported our project from Central it has not been without issues. For example, before the upgrade Flare used to prompt me to load the latest files when I opened our project. Unfortunately, that has stopped. I now have to manually ...

Hi, Johanna. Old indeed. I do not recall our exact problem 9 years ago - but Msquared's solution still sounds sensible to me today. Try to follow her suggestions.

Flare 2020r2 doesn't connect to TFS
I've just upgraded to Flare 2020r2, but I cannot connect to TFS which Flare 2020 did and Flare 2019r2 on my machine still does without any problem. I can also access TFS via Visual Studio, so the connection is generally there. In Flare 2020r2, I just see the red Diconnected icon in the bottom right ...

How to remove items from Analyzer scope?
We're getting a lot of milegae out of Analyzer, keeping our Flare projects clean, many of which have several thousand topics.
We're looking for a way to remove certain items from Analyzer's eyes. For example, we have a bunch of template files which show up in many Analyzer reports (and correctly so ...

Select and manipulate many topics from TOC?
Hi, all,
I want to select many topics at once from a TOC to manipulate or at least open them all together. Specifically, I want to change custom file tags for all topics in chapters 8 and 9 in one TOC.
I find I can change file tags for several topics at once in Flare's File List - but I don't see ...

Thanks, Nita. Huh, yeah, that would actually work, wouldn't it...!
It's probably not feasible in our scenario where we need a "once-in-a-lifetime" reset button - and maintaining 100s of variables for that one occasion is most likely not worth it...

Re: Trados' File Type Definition misses snippets and conditi
Thanks, ChoccieMuffin, good advice about the Trados forums - there's probably more users over there who are bound to have seen this problem.
I've asked my translator, and variables (which we also use) also break up sentences, so we wouldn't be any better off.
Thanks again. Cheers, Kai.

Trados' File Type Definition misses snippets and conditions?
Hi, our translator uses Trados + the File Type Definition (FTD) for MadCap Flare to translate our Flare topics. She finds that even with the FTD installed, Trados omits .flsnp snippet files. Trados also chops up sentences which contain Flare conditions into chunks before and after the conditions ...

This has been fixed. There is now a new icon ON TOP of the Text Editor that lets you switch to the XML Editor when you access a topic via the search result list.

In our team of 10 writers, we also see the occasional hang or black screen. Based on our anecdotal, non-scientific evidence, hard-drive speed seems to be equally relevant. Note that for Flare 10, the Sys Reqs at http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/#Flare/Installation_-_Activation_-_Registration/IAR1018F ...

Can we delete words from Flare's own dictionary?
Is there a way to delete a word from Flare's own dictionary?
There are a couple of words we don't want any writer to use, ever, regardless of how correctly they may be spelled! At least, we want is a red squiggly line underneath the words to remind writers that they shouldn't use it.
Any ideas ...

There is a report for this now in V10.

Scroll to Project and choose Statistics.
Generate and you have everything you need for the translators.
