Re: Conditions inside H1 that includes mc:autonum

The autonum bit should be part of your h1 style in your PDF medium, so yes, it's definitely possible. I'm in the middle of stuff so can't give you details, but you might want to look in that area. I looked to the CSS. I just changed which output type to use. And then changed the heading not to incl...

Conditions inside H1 that includes mc:autonum

Hi Fellow Propellers I'm working to publish my documentation both as PDF and HTML5. That works almost like a breeze. Only real issue is that I'm using chapter numbers for PDF. In HTML5 the numbers mustn't show. My issue is that my current heading H1 contains a MadCap:autonum , which looks like this:...

Crash due to git (?) (!)

Hi Flare crashes before project is loaded. The error seemingly stems from git ! Here's the dump: <MadCapExceptionLog protocol="1" executable="Flare" executableVersion="18.1.8353.25537" localDate="2023-01-18T09:27:50.6562732+01:00"> <OS arch="x64" fra...

Illegal characters in path

This is strange For quite some time, I've constructed my Output file as Interfaces - API FTP Dispatch - v.[%=Global_variables.Version_coverpage%] . I has been working as a charm. But today Flare 17.2 won't accept this. It builds my PDF as usual but then it fails . After trial-and-error-testing, I fo...

Variable sets - how to select?

Select variable set

I have a project with three variable sets that supports three 'families'.

How do I select 'variable set c'.

Best regards

Re: Need help with page layout frames

Also, it appears that the PageCount - even when it is placed in a Footer-frame - still does not count the number of pages in the entire Project. It merely counts the PageLayout. :|

Re: Need help with page layout frames

What actually gets shown in Decoration frames still seems to be relatively random. I have made a page - type "First" - that contains: - Header (containing <PageCount>) - Footer (containing text) - Two decoration frames (containing images) - 9 Decoration frames (containing <Variables>) - 6 ...

Re: Strange happenings when using variables

This problem still occurs in V11. Not all Variables, but some or the other - I haven't been able to figure which Variable will wriggle, yet - resets itself upon build :?: The usual strategy ( Clean Project ) has no function whatsoever :? The only thing that has proven itself useful is to Close the p...

Table disappears

Hi
I can create tables and format them as well.

But when I save the topic, it -and with it its contents - disappears completely! :!:

I am on my third year as a user and have never encountered anything like it.

Any ideas?

Re: Question about Flare dictionary

I am getting pretty tired of the dictionary - maybe because I don't realize just how clever it was devised. Can I point to it from all my projects? Can I import it from somwhere? I have loads of words (product names and special company words) that I have to "add to dictionary" all the time...

Re: Stylesheet and display are OK - PDF not

Oh - my MadCap continues to do annoying stuff.
Now, it doesn't contain itself to messing up my footnotes, it also disregards my behind-the-back alterations.
Take a look, please.

Stylesheet and display are OK - PDF not

Hi Having used MadCap for a couple of years, I have not come across this problem before. My Stylesheet looks similar in all MC-footnote possibilities and the footnote looks just right in the text editor. But not so much in the generated PDF. DummeStyleSheet.png I've attached a screenshot that contai...

Naming PDF output automatically

Hi, How do I ensure that the name I give a document in Open Primary Target > General > Output File actually is transferred to the generated PDF? As I see it, sometimes it works but mostly not. This means that I have to rename the PDF over and over again because the name gets overwritten - reverting ...

"Find and Replace" bug

Hi my fellow propeller heads I've lived with two, seemingly dead and unremovable, "Find and Replace" pop-ups for quite some time now. They are placed in the right-hand side of the working screen and are totally empty! No buttons, no nothing - just white. How can I get rid of these annoying...

Sorry for my rather slow reply.
I created the mailto-link via the "Insert hyperlink" (highlight + r-click + Insert Hyperlink)
And no: It still doesn't work.

Word to Flare - How about the metadata?

Importing Word docs with extensive metadata We have a rather large quantum of Word documents which all have numerous metatags (roles, tools, versions, certificates, families) in/on each document. Is there a neat way to preserve the metadata when importing the documents into Flare. We want to conver...

PDF - mailto - does not work

Hi my fellow propellars I have included a mailto link for user feedback in the printed version (pdf) of my manual. It is generated without warnings, and yet the pdf only returns the following: Adobe Reader: Could not open the file 'mailto:technicalwriter@company.nu' The underlying code looks like th...

Autonumbering | Global | What is it counting?

Dear users, I've created a style that is supposed to count images in my project. I've used this format: GF:Figure {n+}: Texttexttext. This ougth to work, but so far I have only one image and it is equipped with the number 6 (six) when I generate to PDF. I am wondering whether there is a secret count...

Re: Auto number series

It is sort of nice, that others experience the same as I do. I figured out the G (for global), but apparently it opened a new problem. I created a GT for tables and a GF for figures with the same format GF:Figure {n+}: Text only to see that the only figure in my project is number 6 (six). So, my que...
