I'm importing html files that come from my engineering team. Unfortunately I have to reimport with every build to be sure I have the latest material.
It's not that big a deal I guess to have a bunch of unused files. I just wish I understood the use-case for that feature, especially since it looks ...

Importing creates unneeded TOC file
Is there a way to disable the creation of a TOC file for each import? I have some projects with several sources of imported files and now I have have a half-dozen TOC files that I will never use.
Even if I can't disable it, I'd be interested in hearing if other people use these generated TOCs in ...

Re: xref format changes at build
Just to follow up for any future searcher -
With MadCap's help support we discovered that my target had a setting:
RemoveMadCapStyles="true"
This was a remnant from an HTML5 output prior to selecting PDF.

Re: xref format changes at build
Thanks for the reply Mike. I can workaround by using a hyperlink instead of a cross reference.
But I don't really accept that this is default PDF behavior because I have generated many PDFs using paratext only xrefs in other projects that do not behave this way.

Re: xref format changes at build
Just to add some information:
I tried building as a Word document and the blue text is there without the page ref, however there is no link.
I never use Word outputs though so maybe this is normal?
Thanks,
Kath

xref format changes at build
In my stylesheet I have defined my xref formats to be:
{color blue}{paratext}{/color}
When I insert the xref it appears in the editor and the preview to be correct - heading text, blue, linked, no page references.
The text editor shows the code to be:
<MadCap:xref href="Step-1-Features.htm"><span ...

Re: Importing directly from SVN repo versus local project
And to re-iterate my previous post, it is really important that you are careful about how you import and what you import.
Dave I know you mentioned above that you include both kinds of files that are indicated as "newer" because the date/time stamp is only for when they were copied from source ...

Re: Importing directly from SVN repo versus local project
Another workflow is to have a copy of your global project stored in a network location accessible to all your Flare users. Then you can either automate the updating of this global project (for example, having a script get the latest version of the global project n times a day and copies the latest ...

Re: Importing directly from SVN repo versus local project
I am interested in this workflow because when recently troubleshooting an issue with MadCap support I was astounded to hear that Flare does not work properly if projects are stored on a Network drive.

Re: Floating text outside a frame
Thanks Jason!
That looks like it might do the trick. Odd that there are more options available after you insert the text box than while inserting, but good to know they are there.

Re: Floating text outside a frame
Thanks for the suggestion Jason.

Floating text outside a frame
This might belong in the Printed Output section, but I think it is something fixed with styles so I'll start here.

Re: Seeking advice on organization of variables
Thanks Avril.
It is a bit complicated and reading over my post I'm not sure I explained it well.

Seeking advice on organization of variables
Hi,

I'm using variables to define model attributes within each product. I have a MODEL variable set with twelve generic models named A through L. I also have a MODEL ...

Using Batch with different Destinations
Hi,
I'm not sure if what I'd like to do is possible, but if not maybe I could get suggestions on the closest approximation.

Re: Question about v8 Target Editor
Sorry - clarification. It appears the maximum width can be much longer than 32 characters. I found one I have that is quite long (155 characters) and it shows the full line. The width defaults to the maximum definition length - even to point of completely hiding the comments column.

Question about v8 Target Editor
Hi,
I'm using Flare v7.2 now and something that drives me crazy in the Target Editor is that even though you can resize the window, the actual editing space remains fixed.

I've sifted through a few topics around this question but I still need some help. (I'm using Flare 7.2)

Linked TOC headings not in Printed TOC
Hi,
I have several products whose documents are in one project. I've been using separate TOCs for each product but only a small portion of the document is product-specific. I would like to create separate generic chapter TOCs and link to those from a product master TOC.

Re: Table won't break across pages
Darn, I was hoping I just didn't understand what you meant.
I'm going to experiment with different table styles to see if I can find one that works and then compare to see exactly what is different.
I'll report back if I'm successful.
Thanks,
Kath

Thanks for the suggestion, Lisa.

I'm becoming more convinced that it has something to do with the paragraph preceding the table, rather than the table itself. If that paragraph is a caption or a heading (both defined to ...
