Re: Breadcrumb Bug - Uses topic file name instead of topic t

I have encountered this bug too (in Flare 12). For a long time I had my project configured a certain way and the behaviour was similar to what Dave Lee describes above in relation to parent/child topics. However, the topic title (displayed in the breadcrumbs and on the browser tab) always defaulted ...

Re: Page down/up behaviour erratic

Does anyone have this page up/down bug when using Flare on Windows 10? I've been living with this bug (have reported it too) for six years. But I've always been running on Windows 7. What's interesting is that I discovered last week that if I use my Dell laptop at home (which has Windows 10, but I t...

Re: SOLVED: Show both Content Explorer and Project Organizer

I found I needed an extra step (drag the combined PO and CE to the left of the main window). So, what worked for me... To dock the Project Organizer and the Content Explorer one on top of the other to the left of the main content area: 1. Float the Project Organizer and the Content Explorer. 2. Drag...

I've just discovered this issue too. Sadly, still no fix (in Capture 7).

Unreferenced images in outputs

After resizing images in topics, Flare leaves the original unreferenced (unused) images in the output Images folder. This makes the size of the output unnecessarily large and is causing problems for our developers who have to manually strip these out before building the software, in order to keep th...

Re: Better TOC control for PDF output

For me, it works when: * All topics include a stylesheet link; i.e. in the topic properties, there is a stylesheet set and it is NOT (Default). * There is NO master stylesheet set on either the target or project; i.e. in the target/project properties, the master stylesheet is set to (Default). I di...

Re: Cannot generate chapter titles using Running H/F

I found a solution to a similar problem. All my topics have a h1 title (maybe a bad idea), but in the PDF, I group these into sections so there is some structure. And I use the "Use TOC depth for heading levels" feature, with Dave Lee's workaround: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopi...

Re: Glossary term links & glossary popups: how to style them?

I too was having trouble with glossary term popup styling. After playing with the styles using the Stylesheet Editor, I couldn't get back to the default styling (which is really very nice: a black transparent background and white font). To return to this default I had to edit the stylesheet using a ...

Re: Insert Javascript in main frame file

This is due to the strict XML compliance that Flare requires. In the future, you should be able to use CDATA tags like so to insert javascript into the head: <![CDATA[ JavaScript goes here! ]]> Following the above suggestion, I tried adding the following script to the head section of the Default.ht...

Re: Flare deleted my style classes

I can reproduce the bug whereby I can't specify single quotes in the Stylesheet Editor window. However, I've just tried using the format you suggested, Dave, in the internal stylesheet text editor and this works. This must have been the only combination of format representation/place I didn't try be...

Re: Flare deleted my style classes

You seem to have confused style classes (p, p.Note, etc.), which deal with blocks of text, with span classes No, no confusion here. Some of my style classes - of both types p.xxx and span.xxx were deleted. The Flare editor will only display styles that are available in the Medium that is selected o...

Re: Flare deleted my style classes

The style class tags are still present in the XML source i.e. the names of the style classes are still applied to the content, but there are no definitions of these style classes in the stylesheet. The look is affected both in the XML Editor and in the outputs (print and non-print). I've had some su...

Re: Flare deleted my style classes

On further examination, if I select some text that used to have a span class applied, the name of the span class is shown in the Text Format toolbar, but it's not in the drop-down list of style classes (even though, as I said in my original post it's gone from the stylesheet, and the formatting is s...

Flare deleted my style classes

It seems Flare has deleted lots of my style classes from my stylesheet, and has removed those style classes from my topics, and consequently I have lost days of work. It looks like Flare has reverted to a much earlier version of my stylesheet. Unless there's a way to get those styles back, I'll have...

Re: Extracting multiple bits of text to a single file

Thanks Steve, but I'm looking for a single sourcing solution. I want the same text extracts to appear both in the topics in the online help/PDF and also to be embedded in the application that I'm producing the documentation for.

I'll probably use the multiple snippets method.

Extracting multiple bits of text to a single file

I'm looking for a way to extract multiple bits of text to a single file (plain text/XML file), so I can provide the development team with embedded help text for the user interface of a web application. My first thought was to use a condition tag to tag the wanted text extracts, then have a target th...

Re: Need plain HTML without frames or xml or javascript

Just an FYI that the mobile skin forces you into some behavior because it's designed to work on mobile devices, not a standard computer using a full-size browser. Lisa, I'd be very grateful if you could elaborate on what you are forced to do. In other words, what are the limitations of using the Mo...

WebHelp Mobile output without requiring JavaScript

I need to be able to produce online help output for a web application, without frames or JavaScript. WebHelp Mobile output doesn't have frames so that solves the frames issue. Re JavaScript, in another post, Dave Lee says: WebHelp Mobile will detect the browser being used and display the help in a b...
