Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
I started Flare up today and had an update. After installing the update it seems like it opens much faster for me. The MadCap logo pops up right away for me now, and it doesn't take 20+ seconds to open all the way. This is all pretty exciting!

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
Thank you for posting this. Well, at least they are acknowledging that they know there is an issue.... hopefully it will be corrected soon.
I logged a bug report and received the following reply from MadCap Support. I tried their suggestion and haven't noticed any difference yet, but at least we ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
You should report it as well, the more that do the better the chance for us to get them to look at it.DianeP wrote:Extremely slow Flare 8 launch for me too.

Re: Flare 8: Dual monitors and UI being 'lost'
I'm running dual monitors now and haven't had that issue. I would have to agree with the RamonS, from what I've seen before this is usually caused by a driver issue. It could be that your driver just updated or it just needs updated in general. What kind of computer is this? Is it older, maybe it is ...

Re: Flare 8 Ribbon debate
I started using Flare just before the update, and I find the Ribbon quite easy to use because of that. I hated when Microsoft when to the Ribbon because I was so used to the other design. Since I wasn't used to Flare as well as others the Ribbon was quite nice to see. I like that I do have the ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
I agree, I really like what 8 has brought and look forward towards what else MadCap will add. I just noticed there was a difference in speed and wanted to know if anyone else experienced the same thing.

Re: Do you need to know Flare in order to learn Contributor?
If you had previous experience with Flare, Contributor would be pretty simple to learn, with that said you don't so you will have about the same learning curve with Flare as you do with Contributor. I don't use Contributor but my coworker does, I use Flare. He was able to figure out Contributor by ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
Yeah Flare is the only thing that is slow to start, Mimic comes right up with no delay. Like I said before it isn't a deal breaker, and it isn't a painful amount of time. It is just a noticable difference between 7 and 8. With 7 I would click on it from my start menu and the logo would pop up and a ...

Re: Convert to XML option
This is what I found on this, not sure if you've seen this already:
This wizard is used to convert a single HTML file to XHTML when you import a RoboHelp project or try to open a non-XML file in a project (e.g., if you have copied and pasted an HTML file to your project folder in Windows and then ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
It would help if I was reading the correct line. I have a Lenovo ThinkStation S20 4105 Mfg. Part: 4105P6U. The Motherboard has a chipset of Intel X58. I do have 2 4GB sticks, I do only have one Intel Xeon W3550, the motherboard only supports one CPU from the looks of it. I have a Seagate Barracuda ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
Sorry, yes it is 64 bit. I believe the system board is •Intel® Tylersburg 36S, Intel® ICH10R, 1333MHz system bus. I reimaged the computer about 2 months ago. I keep the files cleaned up quite often. The difference in RAM with everything closed vs. open is only 4%, I don't go over 40%. Do I ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
I tried closing it and bringing it back up and it opens in just about the same amount of time, maybe a couple of seconds off. When you start Flare, then close it, then start it again, does it start much faster? If yes, then it might suggest (I do not know for sure) that it is in the nature of the ...

Re: Flare 8 Slow To Start
My CPU doesn't even come close to max out. Even running Flare and several other applications at the same time I'm only running 5-10%. I have plenty of RAM as well, 8GB total. I have the same issue even if nothing else is open and I start up Flare. I too have seen it respond slow when sitting idle ...

Flare 8 Slow To Start
I was wondering if anyone else is having this same problem. Ever since I've upgraded from 7 to 8 it takes much longer to start the program than it did before. When it starts, the few tabs that are open flicker and move around until the tabs aren’t overlapping any longer. It isn't a deal breaker by ...

Re: Upgrading from Flare 7 to Flare 8
Thank you very much for your help, will do my upgrade sometime today. You can run v7 and v8 side-by-side, but recommended policy if you're going to work on the project in v8 is to first make a copy of the entire project folder, either using Windows or Flare's built-in zip capability. Keep the backup ...

Upgrading from Flare 7 to Flare 8
I didn't see any other post regarding this, sorry if it is a duplicate. I currently use the newest version of Flare 7. I got my download link for the new and improved Flare 8, when I upgrade to 8 does my settings change back to the default or will I be ok not to write all the settings down. The ...
