Re: TOC open book icon missing in app-generated IE window
Somehow, I never saw either or these replies way back when. So I apologize for never responding. Today I ran into the same problem again (missing open book icons in the TOC of my HTML5 Help) and, while searching for info, I came across my own message! I also found the work-around that we came up wit...

Re: Email address link fails with script error in IE
Thanks for your reply Paul. MOTW is already selected and in use. My engineering manager discovered that if I added a target destination to all mailto: occurrences, that fixed the issue (no more script errors). So basically, tags like this: <a href="mailto:infodesign@mycorp.com">infodesign@...

Email address link fails with script error in IE
I'm producing HTML5 output with Flare 2017 r2. My Help contains several email links (i.e., mailto:user@company). When I compile my Help and test these links in the compiled output using Internet Explorer 11, an Internet Explorer Security dialog pops up, asking if I want to allow "a website"...

Re: Reorganizing Topics in the Content Explorer
In Flare 12, there seems to be a way to affect the order of entries in the Content Explorer because I keep doing it by accident (!) and can't figure out how to restore the A-Z order afterwards! For example, today I was renaming a topic file in the Content Explorer. I clicked on it a couple times to ...

Re: Is it me? Or is it Flare 12?
Unfortunately that isn't the issue. I have never unpacked the zip file. All I am doing is reopening my normal project AFTER creating the zip file, renaming the zip file, and sending it to MadCap. And Flare crashes on opening.

Re: Is it me? Or is it Flare 12?
I'm running Flare 12 on Windows 7 too, using TFS source control. I ran into an odd bug where if I Zip Project (to send to MadCap support), say Yes to the prompt about removing the zipped file from source control, and then exit Flare, the next time I open that project, Flare encounters all sorts of e...

Toggler expand/collapse images missing in Flare 12
Some of my togglers are simply an icon (image) and they appear within paragraphs. They are used to show/hide a screen capture. For example, a topic paragraph might say: "Use the XYZ dialog box& to perform this task." where the ampersand in this example is actually an icon image. These ...

TOC open book icon missing in app-generated IE window
This is a strange one. I have an HTML5 project that gets bundled into our Windows application. When the user launches it from within the app, it displays in an IE window that our app opens. (It's customized to have no menus, buttons, status line, etc.) We've been using the same app and Help for seve...

Back button issues with Flare 11 and IE
Is anyone else still having issues with the Back button behavior in IE? I reported this back in Flare 9, it was fixed in Flare10, then broken again in 10.2 and is still not working. From a topic, click a link to go to another topic, then click Back in IE. Click another link in that topic (or the sam...

Re: Breadcrumb not using h1
This is a known bug, but the more bug reports that are logged, the better chance of it getting fixed - so please submit a bug report. I was on the phone with MadCap support earlier this week, and during the remote session, they showed me (briefly) how to add breadcrumbs to my project. Indented books...

Re: Flare 11 build process
My HTML5 target builds went from about 1-2 minutes (with Flare 10) to 5-6 minutes (with Flare 11). Same project, no major changes, just topic edits here and there. MadCap Support zipped my project and built it in 1/2 the time. These are the suggestions they gave me for reducing build times. I'm stil...

How to control widows and orphans in PDF output?
I'm using the latest version of Flare (11.1) and producing PDF (and HTML5) output. I have paragraph styles for noBreakInside and noBreakAfter, which are sometimes honored and sometimes not. The PDF output has several paragraphs or list elements where the last line (often a single word and period) is...

Re: Issues with Back function in HTML5 Flare 10.2
To answer your questions properly:
I'm running Flare V10.2.1 (latest version) on Windows 7 64-bit
We can recreate this issue on other workstations (also running Windows 7 64)
Note that it's the SECOND Back click that has the issue.

Re: Issues with Back function in HTML5 Flare 10.2
I discovered after I posted this yesterday that the problem is worse than I thought. It seems to happen after every 2nd Back click (you return to the welcome topic). I checked the browser's history list and at that point, all items seem to change to point to the welcome topic, not the topics I previ...

Issues with Back function in HTML5 Flare 10.2
I logged multiple bug reports on the use of the browser Back button and with Flare pre-V10 HTML Help. (If you clicked a link in the Help, clicked Back, and clicked the same link again, it was dead). MadCap fixed this issue in the 10.0 release. (YAY!) However, I recently upgraded to Flare 10.2, and a...

Re: Nonstop errors integrating Flare 10 with TFS 2013
I feel your pain! I got the "unable to connect" message several times too. I think it stopped happening after I deleted the TFS cache. Have you tried that? After I FINALLY got my second project bound to TFS, I opened the first one, which had been working, and it appeared to be bound (lock ...

Nonstop errors integrating Flare 10 with TFS 2013
I've spent the better part of the last 3 days trying to get Flare 10 to work with Visual Studio 2013 Team Foundation Server. Has anyone successfully done this???? I have 2 projects that engineering moved from VSS to TFS. I think I have imported one of those projects 5-10 times now. And either it's w...

Re: Deleting topics
I just tested this (just started using TFS 2013 with Flare V10.2 in the last week). After MUCH ado, was able to successfully import an existing project (formerly bound to VSS). I was able to add a new (test) topic file, check it in to source control (TFS), and then check it out and delete it without...

BOTH of these are useful - or will be down the road, so THANKS for posting! They specifically mentioned that branching was not supported or recommended with Flare 10 righ...

Re: TFS 2013 - Path "x" is already mapped in workspace "y"
Just went through this same thing while transitioning from a very old source control system to Visio Studio TFS 2013. MadCap support advised me to unbind and then back up each of my Flare projects and then reimport them from TFS. I would get all the way to the end of the import wizard and it would f...

Re: Forward/Back buttons in HTML5 stop working on some topics
Not sure if this is related but I noticed that if you click a link in HTML5 output, press the IE Back button, then click the same link again, you get no response. MadCap support pointed out that the URL in the browser window retains the bookmarked (target) location AFTER you click Back. So when you ...

Re: "Chapter Break" topics are always on a new page
Thanks so much for all the information, Tony -- and the typo alert. (I am using just {n+} as you stated; that was a cut/paste error on my part.) Have to think about the approach you described. I have files in this particular project that include H1 - H3 headings within the same file. This is just a ...

Re: "Chapter Break" topics are always on a new page
THANK you so much, Lydia. I had removed the GH: from the H1. (Per MC support, I only had that in one place; all my other auto-numbering heads started with {chapnum}, which I removed while trying to get chapters to stop starting on new pages...). So for future reference, to force new auto-numbered ch...

Re: "Chapter Break" topics are always on a new page
Hi Lydia, Could you elaborate? MadCap support suggested removing the "GH:{chapnum}" that they told me to put in earlier (for H1's) with just " {n+}," and then using {n}.{n+} and {n}.{n}.{n+} for subheads. And removing the Chapter Breaks. I tried that and ended up with five chapte...
