Keeping records of annotations

We'd like to send out single topics for review with X-Edit review and have the reviewers return annotations. A concern has been expressed that this form of review will not give us permanent records of the review process and review comments, as there is no way to mark an annotation "addressed" in ...

Re: Using X-Edit with Condition Tags

Struggling with this same issue here - locking the content doesn't help if the reviewer can't tell that two paragraphs containing conflicting info are for two different audiences. Not to mention the reading comprehension problems when words within a sentence are conditioned for separate audiences ...

Re: X-Edit setup could be improved for reviewers

I haven't looked at X-Edit in a while and am getting ready to do so again - can anyone tell me if there's a way now to set conditions so reviewers see only the parts of a topic they should? We write for multiple audiences and not being able to set conditions results in some very confusing text for ...

rekiwi -

Yup, that's confirmed. Deleting everything related under the Output directory took care of the problem.

Re: Flare detecting open FM files when none are

Forgot one other thing I tried - I deleted the target and recreated it. Same error.

Flare detecting open FM files when none are

Hi - if no one has a quick fix for this one, I'll submit it as a possible bug. However, I suspect it's not reproducible. When I try to generate FrameMaker output, Flare is throwing the error that the files are currently open in FrameMaker. The problem: not only are the files not open, but FrameMaker ...

Re: X-Edit setup could be improved for reviewers

Hi Var,

can you clarify for me, then, that after the 30-day trial our reviewers will still be able to use X-Edit Review? If it's that tightly integrated with X-Edit, this will be a concern.

Re: X-Edit setup could be improved for reviewers

We will also be waiting for a patch. I'll also be requesting another enhancement to take care of this: If I add my own annotation to a topic, then send it out for review, the reviewer sees my annotation in X-Edit Review as a plain text paragraph. I haven't tested whether annotations placed in the ...

Re: X-Edit setup could be improved for reviewers

Another bit that's confusing to the folks we've tested this with - they will only need X-Edit Review, but the download gives them the trial version of the entire X-Edit family. It's unclear to them in the download process whether they will be able to use X-Edit Review after the trial period ends ...

Re: User Comments on Documents

Another option you might look at is to use Adobe Acrobat's review tools. If you have the full version of Acrobat, your users can use the Reader to add comments to a PDF file. The advantage for you is that the process of merging comments back into a master PDF from several readers' PDFs is easy (and ...
