Re: Flare 2024r2 released
I had previously made my own "PowerPoint" slide page layout a few years ago to produce pretty decent slide output, so I was curious to see this new Flare feature in action. I noticed some of my image thumbnails extend beyond the slide margins in the new PowerPoint target output, so I'll need to do ...

So you can't edit a post here, either?
Does the forum Search function work for you?

Forgot to mention I did delete cookies and that didn't work, either.
I went back into the post and tried to submit the edit, but I got another surprise:

MadCap Software Forums Search - "This page isn't working right now"
Is anyone else encountering this issue? My colleague and I both got the same result trying to search the forum today.
Instead of search results, we get an error page:

Re: Tab leaders
Have you tried experimenting with these settings?
This example is from the p.TOC and p.MiniTOC classes.
Edit: Can any of the proxies produce the sort of thing you're after? Maybe the List-Of Proxy or Menu Proxy?
Hope this helps!
Alex

Re: [Flare 10] Remove link from HTML5 skin header in Default
Yes, I have javascript to include Back and Forward buttons because the software forces our help to display in a browser window that does not have any of the typical browser buttons or menu (so, no back and forward buttons, etc.). Note: I'm not talking about the "Next" and "Previous" buttons Flare ...

Hi Susan,
Which medium is your Word target using?
Also, maybe there's something helpful here?

@Nicola - have you looked at https://icomoon.io/#docs/local-fonts ? Sounds much like what Alex is describing, for other fonts.
@Alex: when I want to use icon fonts for PDF and HTML5 output - would you conditionalize the icons and use css for HTML5 and local fonts for PDF?

Thanks Lydia,
I had already seen this thread. It's a bit disappointing that this goes back to 2006 and these icon fonts are still not supported in the PDF output. I'm going to contact Madcap directly on this.

Re: Few issues with PDFs and Page Break settings
Giving this a bump because I am still getting lots of weird orphans in PDF output, regardless of my widow/orphan settings in the stylesheet.
Short of manually applying page breaks for PDF output or having to apply a "keepwith" style to any paragraphs you think could split awkwardly, has anyone ...

We have this working in our HTML5 help and PDF (and Word) output. Without being able to take a look at your project, it is a bit difficult to determine why it is not working for you. If you already figured out what you need to do, please let us know.

[Flare 10] Remove link from HTML5 skin header in Default.htm
Hello,
Clicking the header area of our HTML5 help (in both the standard tri-pane help and the responsive version) results in some weird behavior. I'm not sure how to describe it, but the help goes into sort of a loop looking for "Default.htm" and the only way you can make it stop is to close the ...

Re: Page Layouts not working with Word
I generate PDF and Word output from the same Flare project, using the same page layouts and same TOC, with the page layouts assigned to the TOC entries. The PDF output is perfect. The Word output has none of the header/footer content that the page layouts should be adding. Am I missing some simple ...

Re: Using Font Awesome with Flare
I seem to remember Dave Lee saying (recently?) something to the effect of multiple classes assigned to a single element not being honored in PDF outputs. Re: Page layout issue
If the only difference between page layouts is text, you could use a single page layout with variables where the text needs to be different.
You can have separate targets and TOCs for each manual and specify the variables to use at the target level.
You would then assign the page layout(s) in the ...

Re: Using Font Awesome with Flare
Update: I submitted a support request and was told that the advanced CSS involved is not yet supported in the print outputs in Flare 10. So, FontAwesome is fine to use if you're only generating HTML5 help, but you're out of luck if you're trying to do what I was. Hopefully, this will be resolved ...

Re: Flare 9 compiled help is not the same as it was in Flare 8
Well, it is not a wall with switches, at first it is a wall. The label will indicate that this is a switch and based on that the switch can be operated. Accessibility features are usually desired, but often do not get (fully) implemented as it is extra work.

Re: Flare 9 compiled help is not the same as it was in Flare 8
I don't make the decisions :)
How can we demonstrate how someone would experience these features?
If there are 20 dropdown fields in a help topic, would a reader tell you the name of each dropdown or just say, "drop down" because that is the default title?
