Re: Does Flare come in a Mac version?
Hi. Is there any prospect of MadCap producing a version for the Mac, and also having Contributor for Mac as well? I am aware of the 'workaround' of using a VM on a Mac - https://www.madcapsoftware.com/blog/2017/06/22/can-i-run-madcap-flare-on-a-mac-oh-yes/ - but, because of the hassle, costs and ove...

Re: Can you make the HTML5 ToC look like PDF Bookmarks listi
As a further thought, if I can persuade them to drop all chapter and section numbers from the HTML5 online help, how would I ensure that the chapter and section numbers only appeared in the PDF, as the Non-Print Medium does not allow me to remove the numbering? OK, I've worked this one at least - yo...

Re: Can you make the HTML5 ToC look like PDF Bookmarks listi
I work for a company that would like to see the chapter and section numbers in the HTML5 TOC as well as in the PDF bookmarks (strange I know), and I thought I'd found the 'silver bullet' with the following: To include heading-levels inside topics in the HTML5 contents: 1. Select all TOC items in the...

Building automatically generated text into Flare
We are currently converting our documentation from LaTeX to MadCap Flare, owing to the obvious design advantages offered by Flare. All the source files will be put into the Dev. Git repository so that the Flare outputs can be built automatically. The problem is that some of the current content (for ...

XML view of TOC?
Apologies in advance if this is already in the works, but I am using MadCap 10 and one of the books in my TOC is exceptionally long as I am documenting a ream of configuration options, with each requiring a topic in the TOC, with the result that the TOC runs off the bottom of the screen and the Prop...

Re: Table resizing in PDF output
Of all the bugs that I've encountered in MadCap Flare 10 that I've been using over the last few weeks, this is the most infuriating. I have spent days putting together a complex table with multiple code samples, and I find out at the end that I cannot control the column widths as I need in the print...

Re: Is it me? Or is it Flare 12?
I normally run Flare 10 on Windows 7, and HTML5 builds are quite fast. I tried the same project on Flare 2017. It took about 10 minutes, which is five times as long as on Flare 10. It also messed up the breadcrumbs at the top of each topic (this is a separate issue which would need more confirmation...

Re: Incrementing footnotes created via text popups in tables
I now realise that this may be a tables bug in Flare 10, as text popups in standard text generate sequentially numbered footnotes in the PDF.
Is this bug fixed in a later release of Flare?

Incrementing footnotes created via text popups in tables
Hi. I'm not sure which forum to place this in, so apologies in advance if it's not in the right place. I have MadCap Flare 10, and am creating a great many text popups (as our main output is HTML 5), within tables. These work fine in the online output. However, some users required printed output via...

Re: page layouts and page types issues
I'm not totally sure how I got rid of the 'blank page' issue - but one thing I did was dispense with Left and Right layouts and just use Normal (the printed document only needs generating for review and is not the primary source of ouput anyway), dispense with Chapter breaks (I have decided to go wi...

Re: page layouts and page types issues
I note that you say "To create the pagelayout, I used the Pagelayout editor ONLY for adding the page types to the pagelayout." Well, I've been using the editor to create all sorts of headers and footers. This may have had an impact, I suppose, but nothing in the headers and footers is caus...

Re: page layouts and page types issues
I'm afraid that I've alrways regarded Page Layouts as one of Flare's big weaknesses, and I've always had issues with numbering and empty pages. I'm trying to put together some form of cogent PDF for my employers to review (although, mercifully, the final output will be in HTML5), and, on this occasi...

MadCap Flare 10.2 Upgrade
Has anyone else had problems installing the latest upgrade (10.2)? When I go to install it, I get the message "UpdateMadCapFlare_V1020.exe is not a valid Win32 application", which suggests that it is not a complete file.

Re: Flare 10 released
I've solved the problem of the resized images, with a little help from Rob Hollinger's posting - you untick 'Tools > Options > Automatically resize low DPI images' . However, in my opinion, that should never have been set as default. It was bound to throw a lot of people.

Re: Flare 10 released
I tried out MadCap Flare 10 with some Page Layouts that I'd created in Version 9, and it did not render the resulting PDF as it had done in Version 9 - graphics and footers had changed size and alignment. So, if you're still having to cater for end users who want PDFs, I would definitely proceed wit...

If I turn off Autoplay for SWF, video no longer shows
Hi, I need to embed an SWF file in my WebHelp, using Flare V. 9. I managed successfully, but it plays automatically as soon as the page is loaded. This is obviously going to annoy the heck out of users, so I thought I could just uncheck 'Autoplay' in the Multimedia settings. The problem then is that...
