In Flare 2022, I inserted this GTM code into my Home master page and Other Topics master page and it didn't break my build:
<script>(function(w,d,s,l,i){w[l]=w[l]||[];w[l].push({'gtm.start':
new Date().getTime(),event:'gtm.js'});var f=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],
j=d.createElement(s),dl=l ...

Re: Publishing to AWS from Flare
I am now publishing my Help projects to AWS by creating branches in Git, checking work out and in, and merging with the master branch. It's working beautifully. No need to bind Help to Git.

Re: Search across multiple projects
I, too, am exploring ways to enable a global search of my HTML5 Top Nav Help projects (currently siloed by application). We publish in 23 languages, BTW. I've considered combining all into one project (horrifying and LOE far too great). I've considered using Google Site Search instead of Flare ...

Re: Publishing to AWS from Flare
I, too, publish my Help to S3 buckets. Currently, I (minimally) interact with Git to commit and push the new files to the remote repositories, and then populate our different environments (dev, alpha, beta, Production) using a job written in Jenkins. I can take no credit for the S3 buckets, Git, or ...

Listing supported browsers?
All,
Do you list the browsers supported by your software? I didn't used to, because of the myriad versions of Flash-browser combinations, but now I may have to consider doing it. Well the director of engineering is pushing for it.
If you do, where do you publish this information? As a link in the ...

Best practice: Embed or link to YouTube videos?
I've got some short tutorials for my Flare 11 top nav project and need to know: What's the best practice for getting my unlisted YouTube videos into my topics? Should I embed them or link to them? I need to collect analytics, so I can't embed them. Unfortunately, they look great and are responsive ...

CSH "mode" - yea or nay?
All,
This isn't a Flare question. It's a tech-writer/UX question.
I'm developing HTML5 help for our Next Gen software, and plan to add CSH. Customers build our product by populating a dashboard of screen elements (widgets), into which they can drill down for details. Our audience is composed of ...

Role-based HTML5 Help success?
All,
I'm using Flare 10.2.2. I'm trying to serve my Help files for my customers based on the URL they access and the language they choose. I understand I'm going to have to implement some custom java. Have any of you had success doing this?

Re: HTML5: TOC expanded pre-Flare 9, but not in 9
MadCap Tech Support solved the issue. Turns out I had linked the Welcome Startup topic to the Procedures book while also linking the Procedures book to the Welcome Startup topic. I unlinked the Welcome Startup topic from the Procedures book, rebuilt and republished, and it worked. The TOC expanded ...

Re: HTML5: TOC expanded pre-Flare 9, but not in 9
Wish it were that simple. Cleared cache. SElected a different topic in the first book as the startup topic. Cleaned project, recompiled, republished. That time it worked. TOC expanded to the topic two books down. Cleared cache again, selected my real startup topic, which is the first topic in the ...

My Startup Topic was indeed blank in my target. I set my Startup Topic, then I cleaned the project, recompiled, republished. Still no expanded TOC. Guess I need to raise a bug.

HTML5: TOC expanded pre-Flare 9, but not in 9
I'm delivering HTML5 help that has a Contents tab. The TOC has two main books, Procedures and Reference. Before Flare 9, my Procedures book was expanded when you invoked the help, which is how I wanted it to look; the default topic is Welcome:
Procedures

Re: Who's using Mimic?
I have Mimic 6 but I haven't used it yet. I want to record a software simulation with it and hand that off to a producer, who's going to include the clip in a live-action movie (video footage, stills, title slides). Would I save the simulation as a Flash movie or a SWF?

Can I combine "live" video with software simulations?
We want to shoot videos of our products in the field (with actors) and combine that footage with simulations recorded in Mimic. Can I import the footage into Mimic, and create a 5-min. movie that can be accessed from within my Flare HTML5 help?
