Do you have these options set in the Chapter/Page Layout Break panel of the Printed Output tab under the chapter's TOC Properties?
Page Type: First
Auto-end on 'left' page: Disabled

Re: Problem with find and replace function
Once you select "(whole project)," you must click Start first, and then Find Next until you've reached an instance of replacement.
Only then can you finally click " Replace in All Files ."
Kludgy? Yes. Does it work? Mostly.

Can't open report file
Whether a new or an existing report file, I'm getting the dreaded error message "Failed to open startup file: Object reference not set to an instance of an object." A blank file opens, with the file name in the tab.

Often, some table columns are actually unnecessary.
For example, if a 20-row table has a fourth column that only contains things like Notes or Codes, etc. (especially if only two or three elements are used for all the rows; also if some rows are blank or N/A), it's usually ...

You probably have conflicting local styling going on here, in addition to multiple style sheet issues. Try separating yourself from it by testing on a clean environment.
See the http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_list.asp site with the "Try it yourself" dynamic interface. You might find that if you ...

This is our setup for PDF. The TOC contains links to each topic (as a chapter); the TOC Printed Output Properties are Break Type: Chapter Break, the Page Number is Reset to: {chapnum}-{n}, and the "bookmarks" look like the following. (Each ellipsis indicates an indent.)

This is controlled through the use of frames in page layouts; there's quite a bit about them in the Flare help, such as Adding Page Layout Frames, Editing Pages and Frames, and so forth.

From the Flare Help, Inserting Drop-down Text topic: "3. Highlight all of the paragraphs that you want to become the drop-down text, including the first paragraph, which will contain the hotspot."
It seems that list items don't qualify as paragraphs.

Re: Help with Rounded Borders on textbox
IE8 and older do not support border-radius (and many other attributes, sadly). All other browsers do, however.
For a list of browser/attribute support issues, see this site: http://www.quirksmode.org/css/contents.html

Re: Changing icon beside caption for output window tab
Best practice is to avoid spaces in file names, such as in your "shortcut icon" stylesheet name. There might be no issue immediately felt, but there could be trouble in the future.

1. To eliminate a heading from the TOC, go to your .css stylesheet, open the PrintSupport property for the selected heading, and enter '0' for the mc-heading-level.

Re: Limited Conditional Control in Flare
Steve, I don't think Kathleen's reply was necessarily advocating a "positive" conditionals approach, which you implied from her quite basic example. Best practice, as suggested repeatedly in the RoboHelp and Flare user forums, is a "negative" approach (NOT A, NOT C, but everything else ).

Re: HTML5 - Search by Topic Only?
Remove the Search accordion tab, add all your topic titles as Index terms, and rename the "Index" accordion tab to "Search".
The plus in this solution is that as you type the "Search" characters, the "Index-as-Search" jumps to the related listing(s). So the user thinks you've provided Google-type ...

Spend a little time learning about the CSS List properties here: http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp
They have a "Try it yourself" feature, which provides an interactive self-training experience.

Re: user-defined auto-numbered lists and OL
Lisa, here's the link you need for what IE8 will/will not support. http://www.quirksmode.org/css/contents.html
The caveat is this: IE8 in Compatibility Mode is, for all intents and purposes, IE7 . So review the selector table accordingly.
Good luck,
Leon

Re: Common CSS for multiple (merged) WebHelp projects?
Keep in mind that the External Resources and Global Project Linking features both require that you open each project and manually "jump-start" the import/synchronize process. With 42 projects, I found that absolutely archaic. Besides, I couldn't trust all of my writers to do that in a timely fashion ...

Check out the xcopy batch file method I suggested in this previous reply: http://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewto ... =9&t=15222.
You would enter an xcopy line for each one of the 20 "destination files" being over-written.
Good luck,

Keep in mind that Flare (as with RH) will not "find" a multi-word string if it is split between lines; that is, it cannot ignore line breaks (soft or hard) or multiple spaces.

Last year, we went through the conversion of a 42-project RoboHelp merged WebHelp project into a Flare merged WebHelp project.
Here are the findings as I remember them (I'm at a different job, now).
Tables: Some tables (and all subsequent content) simply disappeared in the conversion.
