electronic form creation in Flare
Does anyone know if it's possible to create a form in Flare? I need to create an HTML file that a person can fill out and email back to my company. I need to add a couple of drop downs, and I need the fields to be expandable to accommodate a person's name, company, address, etc. This form would resi...

Re: Topics not starting on new page; footers problem
The style sheet IS set to have page break before in that heading style. It doesn't seem to be applying it. I also noticed that when I generate the Word doc, I get error messages saying that the style sheet doesn't exist. Yet when I have a topic open and double-click on the Open Master Style Sheet bu...

Topics not starting on new page; footers problem
How do I get a book in my TOC to start on a new page in Word? I have set my printed output in the TOC so that each book starts a new chapter. I would think it would also start on a new page, but they don't. The other problem I have with printed output is that I have set all my footer proxies to a ce...

Re: HTML Compiler Stops Working
I don't think I have that problem of trying to build to the same folder. The folders are set up as follows: Project Name folder Content folder Output folder MyHTML Help MyWebHelp Project folder The path to put the compiled Help files is to the Output folder. Is this correct? I usually use the defaul...

Re: HTML Compiler Stops Working
Thanks, Lisa, I will check the length of file names and pathnames and see if that helps. I already tried rebooting my PC and deleting the Output folder so it would generate a new one. Same problem. I also can't compile the WebHelp becaues I get an "Internal Error: the process canoot access the ...

Re: HTML Compiler Stops Working
How long is too long for file names and link paths?
I just ran into this problem (I'm on Windows XP with Flare V4.1) when trying to compile HTML Help.
I have not tried to compile web help.
Thank you,
Kathleen

Re: Error when compiling webhelp - css is in use by another proc
I rebooted my PC - no change. I deleted the target and created a new one. It compiled okay twice, then it started with the same problem. I rebooted my PC again. I deleted the target and again created a new one. Same problem. This is nuts. Is this a bug in Flare or Windows? I never had this problem w...

Re: Error when compiling webhelp - css is in use by another proc
I left everything at default. I don't know why it would say there is a madcap.css in my Stylesheets folder. The only file in there is Styles.css (maybe that's the MadCap style sheet?). I have shut down Flare and reopened everything. Are you suggesting I shut down my PC and reboot? Thank you, Kathleen

Error when compiling webhelp - css is in use by another proc
I have developed a one-topic Help file that I'm trying to generate into webhelp for a PDA application. I have not been able to get it to compile at all. I keep getting the following error message: Internal error: The process cannot access the file ........ (project folder names) webhelp\Content\Skin...

Re: Tables in Page Layout Footer, adding a page type
I open the footer (F2), then go to Table Properties, and change it from a border to Not Set. When I try to save it, I get the error. Don't know why it looks fine with Default and not Print. I only want to have the no-border look for these footers. Maybe I should create a table style specifically for...

Tables in Page Layout Footer, adding a page type
I have inserted a table (no table style used) into my footer in my page layout. I did this so that I could have the page number flush at one side of the page, and the company name flush at the other side of the page. And I have this going for both the L and R pages. The problem is, it won't let me r...

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I fixed it and even borrowed your javascript to link the logo to our web site.

Re: Madcap logos and links in WebHelp header
Where is the OnClick field in the Skin file? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I have an image in to replace the Madcap logo, that's working fine. But I can't find where I edit the image link to my company's web site.
Thank you.

I changed the pathname to this and now it seems to work. Go figure.
\\thnsrv02\kbaine$\First Responder Application\ICSAA Help\Output
Sigh.

Re: Internal error. File name or path name or both too long
The pathname I am using is as follows.
\\thnsrv02\kbaine$\First Responder Application\ICSAA Help\Output The THNSRN02 is a server I work from, not on my C: drive. Maybe this is the problem. I thought I was putting it to my C: drive.

Internal error. File name or path name or both too long
I have been getting an internal error today when I try to compile WebHelp. It says the file name or pathname are too long, and gives me a character limit. I've never had this problem before. The project isn't at the root of my C:\, but it is only a couple folders down. It worked fine yesterday, and ...

Re: PDA-Sized Help
Hi Lisa, Thanks for the information. I may end up developing this help in Notepad using pure HTML. I found some information on a Microsoft white paper about creating Help for Handheld PDAs. Windows CE, what this application will be created in, uses a limited number of HTML tags. There is no Search f...

Re: PDA-Sized Help
Isn't there a way to set the window size for WebHelp from within Flare? If I set the window to open in a size that is a percentage of the display, would that solve this problem? What I'm actually trying to do is write my topics with only so much text in each one so that the person seeing it doesn't ...

PDA-Sized Help
Does anyone know how to set up Help files so that as you write them, they are the correct size to display in a PDA window? I am writing Help for a PDA application, and I want to sort of self-impose small size windows in my Help so that it displays correctly in the PDA window. Does anyone know of a f...
