Re: Make sure the web address //ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.
I promised an update after speaking to Madcap Software Support, who spent an hour on Team Viewer with me. So far all we have been able to establish is that indeed an excess of Keywords is at the root of the problems here. Many of these had been added, albeit what I thought was selectively. Running a...

Re: Make sure the web address //ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.
I appear to be making some progress towards diagnosing this problem. Thankfully we have a Software Support contract with Madcap, and will be have a one-to-one in the near future, so hope to report more later. I have been able to force the issue by gradually adding batches of the same Keyword, to a p...

Re: Make sure the web address //ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.
I have reported this, and am currently exchanging e-mails with them. They cannot replicate the problem, but it is odd that having deleted the occurrence of large number of just one Keyword, not only did the dll issue go away, the Build Log then began to show Keywords which it had truncated.

Re: Make sure the web address //ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.
Well what I discovered in our case, has shocked us to the core. In a single word, the root of our problem was, "Keywords". By pure chance, and using an external to Flare tool, a colleague found that we had one Keyword which had just over 1,000 entries. And yet, the Project would compile wi...

Project: Build - Use lowercase file names
I have scoured Flare's Help, to find out precisely what, "Use lowercase file names" means and does to no avail. After many years of Windows development, and now development for Macs, we realise that Apple Mac can have problems with file names which contain upper case letters. Does this opt...

Apple and opening Word files
We have recently introduced over 100 sample foreign language files created in Word. These are contained in a folder within the Project. With our Windows CHM. all is well and Word opens as required. However, we are struggling to do the same for the Apple Mac version, even with MS Office for Mac insta...

Flare's Analysis
I have to say that the Analysis option in Flare is fabulous, and has helped in more ways than I can mention. Just one issue however is with "Markup Suggestions". Is there any way to filter this? By necessity we use non-breaking or hard spaces quite extensively in some topics. e.g. With ...

Re: Setting default font in whole Project
Many thanks, as you have actually answered another question for me.
I did find out that it is the <body> Style which is the top level from which Defaults are taken.
This answers issues relating to the Mac platform which has been quite headache.
Thanks again.

Setting default font in whole Project
Over many years, I've made many mistakes which I'm now trying to address. I have to confess that I've been pretty much self taught, but the inclusion of Analyzer in Flare's latest version is bringing all manner of issues to light. In the CSS editor, I wish to revert the <h1> thru <h6> Headings to th...

Re: Find & Replace (Windcards & Spaces)
I had thought of that, but it would be a long job in this project.
The ideal would be if there was a means of searching for a period, followed by anything NOT equal to a space such as U+0020 or a hard return U+000D

Find & Replace (Windcards & Spaces)
I need to find all instances where a sentence ends with a period, but has no space following before the next sentence begins.
I've tried searching for .* and .? but they pick up cases with spaces as well.
Any thoughts anyone please?

Re: Flare 2018 - So where are MadCap Mimic and MadCap Captur
Phoned Madcap and showed problem via Team Viewer. First, it turns out that Capture and Mimic are separate downloads, and require their own License Key - NOT the Flare Key. Second, Madcap have goofed and the "Download MadCap Capture" and "Download MadCap Mimic" links point to the ...

Re: Flare 2018 - So where are MadCap Mimic and MadCap Captur
This is true, but I did say, "I can see links to the two in Flare 2018: Tools: Madcap, but while given a supposed link to Download, and eventually entering our Flare Key, the only download is Flare 2018."
Are you saying that your links actually do run Mimic and Capture?

Re: Stop auto-checking for updates?
Oh it gets better than that! When you do install Flare 2018 from the upgrade notice in previous version, it warns you that it need to close Flare. Fair enough. So installation continues to completion. However if you have added a shortcut to the Windows 10 Start menu, that Shortcut still runs the pre...

Flare 2018 - So where are MadCap Mimic and MadCap Capture?
While delighted to see Madcap Analyzer is now within Flare, I'm struggling to find MadCap Mimic and MadCap Capture. At https://www.madcapsoftware.com/madcap-flare-2018/ is states the following: "MadCap Mimic and MadCap Capture Now Bundled Free with MadCap Flare "Take advantage of tight int...

Re: Files required for dropdown and expanding text
Hi Alison, It can often be tricky to understand a concept at times. Is the dropdown and expanding text unique to each Topic? If so, it will normally be coded within the Topic. On the other hand, are there dropdowns and expanding text used in multiple Topics. At the following URL, you can see that I ...

Re: HTML5 "Nu Validator"
Have just had a long session with Flare support, and the bottom line is that certain "attributes" cannot yet be held in the Table CSS, hence end up being in-line. Net result is that the Validator complains. Not at all good, but will be following up with Madcap and a huge report of errors, ...

Flare's Project Organiser reports can be an invaluable tool, especially when you begin using alternative outputs, and Markup Suggestions is no exception. However, in many cases you need to look at each topic in Flare's Text Editor. So I have a raft of reports telling me that I should "Remove li...

Re: HTML5 "Nu Validator"
Many thanks for your expert opinion on the Nu Validator. That is comforting. But being faced with a 12,320 line report, albeit down from almost 18k, is pretty daunting. One type which I do specially worry about is the following since we have been at pains to keep CSS compliant. There are quite a few...

As my Danish wife would say, "tusend tak" (A thousand thanks)

Re: Topics not linked to Stylesheets (CSS)
Thanks Dave, but I have two problems. 1) My Contents folder contains sub-folders, and it appears I have to open each folder. Not a biggie, just time consuming. 2) There is certainly a "Stylesheet" column in which I would have expected to see the name of the CSS. But what I'm seeing appears...
