Re: Flare Review Package Madness
Thanks for your reply Jason. I agree it causes headaches, but I don't think it is from a workflow perspective, for us anyway :) We do try to minimize making changes while the topics are out for review in a Flare Review Package precisely because of the problems in Flare's merge tool. And, we don't ...

Flare Review Package Madness
We've recently started using flare's review package feature. We have a dedicated editor to whom we send our review package. She marks up the topics then sends them back to us. We then copy the reviewed package to the project inbox.

Re: Internal Error: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemory...
Flare support to the rescue!
Support sent me a patch and my 4200 page PDF (!!!) compiles now. It only takes about 14 minutes too. Impressive.

Internal Error: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemory...
Running Flare v9.1.2.
I am getting the error: Internal Error: Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
I am trying to generate a very large PDF. This is the first time I have tried to build this particular large PDF (I am guessing it will be a few thousand pages, at least).

The update screen lists 3 or 4 items that are fixed, but I am wondering if there is a full release notes document for 9.1.2 someplace. I can't find it.

Re: Failed to run command Indent - Flare 9.1/Win 7
For those following along at home...
Madcap confirmed this is a bug: (Ref 76713)
Workaround is to create a P tag, hit TAB, apply the Div (or whatever you are wrapping the group in), then change back to a PRE tag. Or... just click the "Create Group" icon in the ribbon.

Re: Failed to run command Indent - Flare 9.1/Win 7
Ok, I lied, this did not fix it. Still seeing the behavior when I hit the TAB key and I have apre tag selected. If I make the pre tag a P tag and hit tab, everything works fine. Change back to a pre and hit tab, the error pops up.

This is what finally fixed the issue from me:
Delete the CatapultMdiEditor file. This stores saved information about the Flare Windows Layout. We typically use this process to address Flare UI issues.
Close out of Flare.

Re: Failed to run command Indent - Flare 9.1/Win 7
Repaired all the .NET installs, rebooted, problem still exists.
Also reset window layout, cleaned project, deleted Analyzer, Output, and Users folder. Problem still exists.
I have a case open with support. I'll say what they say and report back.

Re: Replaceable text in templates
Just a follow up...
There appears to be NO way to do this. I read all help, scoured the web, used my google-foo, but no luck.
I was hoping to set up a basic "forms" based template for highly structure content. Flare does not support this. You are stuck highlighting and deleting any default text ...

We typically wrap a shaded div around code examples. To do this, I insert a pre tag, enter my text in there, then highlight the entire pre tag and hit the TAB key. Normally, this brings up the "Create a group" dialog, and I can select my shaded div to wrap around the pre.

Replaceable text in templates
I'm trying to find a way to create easily replaceable text for an authoring template. (The templates you see when you choose New > Topic... )
XMetal has a nice feature where you can embed, for example <h1><?xm_replace_text PageTitle?></h1> in the template. When an author opens the template they see ...

Flare 8 Hangs too! was Re: Flare 7 hangs when importing...
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but this still appears to be an issue in Flare 8. I am running 8.1.2 and I am also hanging on importing a project in SVN (about 400MB). We use flare and svn+ssh. I know it is doing something because I had plink windows popping up all over the place (we use ...
