Re: Screenshot replacement
Hi Dave. Can you elaborate as to why there are too many variables to make use of conditional tags? At face value, it would seem that would be the way to go. At least you have a methodology that's working for you. It's also possible there is no "better" way than the seven steps you've writt...

The key, however, is to ensure your **intended audience** - not you - can view the files you intend them to be able to access.David Skoglund wrote:Thanks Nita!
That is somewhat baffling to me to set the default that way. No matter. I am now seeing the files I intend to see in the builds.

For those who don't recognize me by user name, I go back many, many years with MadCap Flare. In fact, I was a beta tester for blue sky software, developers of Robohelp. I've also contributed to many "ideas" and have reported a number of "bugs" (since fixed) to MadCap over the yea...

Hello back to you - I've read your responses over the years. And this reply is also to help test whether your email address is indeed defunct. Thank you so much for the prompt reply, ChoccieMuffin. Re: Having an issue using Elasticsearch
I have familiarity using Zendesk, which utilizes elasticsearch. If the elasticsearch in flare works anything like it does in Zendesk, I'd avoid it. Here are the issues I've found. Frankly, these are show stoppers. :x - only uni-directional stemming is supported (i.e. "cancel" finds "c...

Re: Flare maintenance key
Hello jhuk.
The maintenance key doesn't get entered into the product. The product license key does. Your maintenance key can be used should you happen to contact MadCap for support. The product license key is needed to activate the product.
Hope that helps.

Re: Build hangs with Google Analytics code in master page
That's the old 'ga' code for analytics. It was replaced last year with the 'gtag' code, which minicyclist is using. Hi David. Thank you. I'll preface my reply by stating that I am not a JAVA script coder. The code I wrote herein this thread was provided to me - perhaps a little over a year ago - by...

Re: Build hangs with Google Analytics code in master page
Hi minicyclist. I'm unable to tell you why your code is causing your build to hang. However, I can tell you I too am using google analytics in my master page, have over one thousand topics, and my builds do not "hang" or otherwise have any abnormalities. The script code I've inserted is as...

Re: Disconnected from source control by default
I'm not sure if my response will help you or not, however, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt to try unbinding and then rebinding the project, and/or deleting the source control folder. The source control folder could be copied as a backup if your reluctant to delete it, and it would be recreated auto...

Re: Best practices – traceability – HTML output
Thank you for confirming I'm on the right track. I had not thought of using a prefix for the project - good idea. And I will link all the variables together with hyphens to make it easier for the technician to cut and paste from the website into the service report. Thanks! You're very welcome, Isab...

Re: Context Sensitive Help for HTML 5
Your description reads like you've done thing correctly and that your developer may not have. When you write "it always opens up to the homepage" I take that to mean the **startup topic** as defined in the target editor. If that isn't the case then something else is amiss. Have a look at t...

Re: Best practices – traceability – HTML output
Hi Isabelle – Based on your description I’d have to think you’re on the right track. If it is your intention to output HTML5 which is used by the technician, with the idea that the technician then continues to do as he/she currently is doing - filling out a report and indicating on the report the do...

Re: Multiple Flare projects
Hello Henk Jan. Personally, I have little clue about using Flare (presumably you are using 2017 version) to manage content for multiple languages. However, from what I understand, Flare does support authoring and output for left-to-right and right-to-left languages. The documentation about language ...

Try getting a hold of a free version (there are pay-for versions as well) of Windows Grep.

You're welcome, GeorgeBell. I gather there is some frustration on your part, and understandably so. As you state you have already reported the bug and/or submitted an enhancement request, at least you can remain hopeful in that regard. Typically, MadCap does fix bugs and implement worthwhile suggest...

Re: Is there a workaround for the hardcoded stop-word list?
We, also, are stymied by the stop words list. The words about, between, and include are important search terms for us. We use Flare 2017 r2 to generate HTML5 output. The help (http://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2017r2/Content/Search/Flare/Configuring-Search-Database/Including-Stop-Words.htm) indic...

Hi john-Hetherington. I'm assuming you are using the latest version of Flare, 2017 r3 and that your output is HTML5. While I could be misunderstanding your inquiry, I'd like to point out that the built in Search Filter Set feature would allow you to filter search results before or after search resul...

Hi Paul. While I cannot speak/write for others, I'm on 6355 and there are no unwanted issues with Flare tat I'm aware of. I too use HTML5 output.
