v11: pinning file tabs.
v10: in the Flare workspace middle pane there are tabs for each document you've opened, for example a topic and what have you. As I open more and more topics so it takes longer to refresh them when I reopen the project. I can use the option to close all documents except the current which at least re...

Re: Adding a watermark to printed pages.
That was roughly the effect I noticed as well but not with edits to page layouts. Rather than having a watermark that was on the page with enough transparency to suggest it was always there, mine was somewhat opaque and cropped depending on the content it was competing with. Like it was almost OR'ed...

Re: Adding a watermark to printed pages.
I created a png containing the draft watermark from Word and added it to the body's background-image property and it almost worked. I tried tweaking some other background image properties and while it didn't look quite as nice it was functional all the same. Thanks for your help. emsachs: I'll pass ...

Re: Version 10/11 projects.
Quite correct. I searched my password vault and found my licence code for Capture.
You say Capture is under development: are there any features-cum-teasers about that you can reveal?

Adding a watermark to printed pages.
I'm close to completing a project which is PDF output only. I'd like to send the PDF to someone to review. What I'd like to do is to add a "draft" type of watermark to each page and ideally, I'd like to do it as simply as possibly so it can be torn down later. In the online help the discus...

Re: Version 10/11 projects.
Thank you Rob. I was thinking of downloading the 11 evaluation and continuing my non-essential project I started in 10 using 11. I'm doing not much more than the essential basics with Flare so I'm unlikely to get entangled with backwards compatibility issues. And if I do, I'll have to speak to my Mi...

Version 10/11 projects.
Are version 10 projects a one-way only migration to the new version 11? Putting it another way is anything converted to 11 usable with 10 at anytime?

My apologies, gents and my bad, I should have mentioned it is a print only output I'm generating. PDF only.

That could work. I'll explore it once I've learned more about page layouts. Thanks for the suggestion.

Putting a table at the bottom of a page.
I have a topic which currently contains a few paragraphs which are shown at the top of the page. I was thinking of adding a table containing my document's revision history and rather than have the table follow on after the other paragraphs I'm thinking of putting the table at the bottom of the gener...

Gotcha! I see what you are referring to. There's a lot lurking inside the Evil-Looking Eagle-Eyed "Show tags" menu. I'd wondered what the Show Caret Tag Neighborhood did, now I do. Bit by bit, this Flare malarkey is making sense to me.

Re: Unwrap styling.
Sorry Nita, I think my edit snuck in while you were typing. But yes, I see what you mean and the little span box does appear at the top. I never really noticed it there before as I saw the text and span boxes that popup and hover in close context to where it's used in the paragraph, doing the same t...

Unwrap styling.
Let's say I have some text in a paragraph whose style I change with a span class. Normally, if I want to to remove it afterwards I have to edit the XML which is fine. Editing XML can be like asking an elephant to dance on eggs; you hope for the best but fear for the worst. :) Is it possible to remov...

Re: Glossary questions.
Dave, thanks for confirming the snippet/variable question. As for the topic approach I formed the idea that when you select the topic it automatically picks up the keywords from within it but that's clearly not the case. So, just to confirm my understanding about it now, I'd enter the keywords manua...

There's a dialog which lets you add glossary items which works okay for me and they appear in the PDF output. 1. In some glossary items I'd like to add a snippet or a variable into the text. Is it possible to do that? The glossary editor does basic things but being a sort of "dumb" editor ...

Re: Missing page numbers in PDF output.
Aha! Thank you. I think it looks okay now. I couldn't see how to add the page number variable as the little button that lets me select a variable elsewhere in my topics wasn't available when I F2'ed the footer. So, I copied the entire footer contents from the "L" page layout into the "...

Missing page numbers in PDF output.
A document I'm writing is derived from the User Guide Advanced template. I just noticed that the odd-side pages don't have any page number printed on them. Thinking it was me who broke something, sometime, I created a test project using the same template and without doing anything to it the odd-side...

Re: Style sheet and inline styling advice.
Paul Pehrson has talked about creating a Capture profile to set a scale factor that will resize an image to which that profile is applied. That might be another option for resizing your images. I've tried it, and although I totally get what Capture is doing, I have to admit that I did not quite lik...

Re: Style sheet and inline styling advice.
Understood. But not quite over and out... 1. Using your table example, if a column is 200px wide what happens if the image is 500px and you don't use a percentage to resize it? Does it automatically scale the image down to fit the column or does the column adjust to the image or is it cropped? I won...

Re: Style sheet and inline styling advice.
Would I be right in thinking that if my image goes in as a normal page oriented paragraph then it would be roughly 50% of the page width, excluding margins and so on? I haven't consciously added any other containers except those dangling from the <body> element. I do have some images in a bulleted l...

Re: Style sheet and inline styling advice.
Nita, I'm not sure if I added that 50% image class or if it was there when I created the project using the template. I've obviously learned bad habits hence my flurry of posts over the last month or so. I'm hoping my project structure and use of style sheets will get better as I go along. Since I've...

Re: Style sheet and inline styling advice.
Thanks Margaret. That was the answer. I suspected there might have been a syntax issue but didn't know why. I was reluctant to add another style sheet class for something that affects a few images only.

Let's say I have this in a topic: <img src="../Resources/Images/Test999.png" class="FiftyPercent" float="right" /> And the stylesheet contains this: img.FiftyPercent { max-width: 50%; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 10px; padding-right: 10px; padding-top: 10px; } I w...
