Re: Google Chrome bug?

Mystery solved.

Our server admins moved the production server and used an older version of the site. As I was fixing the problem on the old server, the changes never appeared on the public site. They have been suitably chastised for not including me and everything is ok again. Please disregard. :)

Re: Google Chrome bug?

I had this problem fixed using the remedies in this thread and have installed the update to Flare 11 when it came out. All was good. Today I am getting numerous queries from my internal customers because the problem is back on the two external customer sites I built using Flare. And during review-wr...

Re: Wish list for Top Nav beyond Flare 11

Thanks Dave, I'll investigate that and see where it leads me.

On another front, I just got the email from Zurb that Foundation 6 has released. The feature list make it sound like it be a good inclusion going forward. I'm planning to set up a test project and see if it plays nicely with Flare 11.

Re: Wish list for Top Nav beyond Flare 11

I would like to have full support for all of Foundation's features. I have experimented with things like the Magellan navigation bar (works), but some of the features (specifics escape me at the moment) will not work. I did find that I could get most of them to work if I used the JQuery version incl...

Re: SCRIPT conflict from v10 to v11

I was using Flarestrap in Flare 10, and experienced some script failures when I migrated to Flare 11. Flare 11 is using Foundation, and the JQuery package used by Foundation caused my issues (I had manually added Foundation to my TopNav project in order to make use of the sticky navbar feature). I s...

Re: Creating "Branded" HTML5 output

That custom skin example you linked was written by Dave Lee, who frequents these forums. He has been a remarkable resource to me over the years and multiple versions of Flare. I highly recommend looking at his posts for things related to JQuery. There are some extremely knowledgeable folks here who ...

Re: Nav Pane issues in HTLM5

Out of curiosity, what are the settings currently in your HTML5 skin on the Setup tab? The setting to hide the nav pane on startup is located there, as is the setting for responsive output.

Re: Search not working in HTML5 output/Flare 11

I had a different problem with search breaking, but out of curiosity do you have a call to load JQuery in any of your pages? I ask because I had one that was the root cause of my broken search issue. If you do, try commenting it out and see if the problem goes away. Of course, my suggestion may have...

Re: Is topnav a good idea, friendly user?

There are options for off-page navigation lists under Foundation, which I presume could be added into the TopNav skin. I have had good luck so far implementing some of the arcanery of Foundation within my Flare TopNav project, but have not yet tried the off-page navigation (slides into view from eit...

Re: Where are the home page div styles for top navigation?

I've read somewhere (apologies for my poor memory) that MadCap used Foundation to create the TopNav skin, and indeed, I've been busily hacking some Foundation functionality into my TopNav project. Dave is right as usual, many of those classes are being inherited from Foundation. If you want to overr...

Previous discussions have recommended outputting to Word and then using the Word import functions in Confluence. I would like a solution to this as well.

I've gone to bypassing the skin and adding the Google Custom Search Engine into my pages. So far, things seem to be working the way I want them to.

Re: HTML5 Search

I must sheepishly admit that because the skin appears when I run the sample project for Flarestrap it never occurred to me to remove the skin. I think I need to reconsider my approach. Thanks Dave.

HTML5 Search

My current customer is asking questions that I don't know the answer to regarding search. He is wondering is there is a way we can make the "thinking" animation on the interstitial page more pronounced. He hasn't even noticed that there is by default an animation while Flare is searching f...

Re: Collaboration (without MadCap Contribute) revisited.

I think I'll head over to the feature request and ask for Atlassian collaboration myself, as that would be fantastic in our world too. I am not surprised by their response regarding Google. Ever since our company moved to Google apps I have been grousing about how they tend to make updates and "...

I'm also writing API references in Flare, and while it's not quite the same as writing a full SDK, there are overlaps. I'm eager to read through any experiences folks can share in the hope I'll learn much faster than by blindly stumbling through on my own.

Perhaps there is a feature request in there for MadCap: provide an option to mark conditions with a pattern and/or color.

Re: Document collaboration (without MadCap Contribute)

Yep, that was my experience as well with Acrobat. That is how I handle my Word review copies, after much complaining and muttering things like "Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain". It does come out looking pretty good. I think the only problem I find in the resulting copy is un...

Welcome to the forum!

You can pre-populate those PDF properties by editing the PDF target. Check out the PDF properties tab in the target. You can set them once and have them applied to the output whenever you build.

Re: Memory Issues since moving to Flare 10

I get the black screen thing too. It happens more at the moment because I'm doing lots of tidying up jobs, like deleting obsolete files (using Analyzer to find them), and it happens more on larger projects than smaller ones. It gets worse over time, so I close everything and restart my machine, whi...

Re: Memory Issues since moving to Flare 10

I would be surprised if the 8GB of RAM is the problem, because my laptop here at work is loaded with 8GB and I have no issues (currently) with Flare 10.2. I would expect all of your writer's to experience the same issues if it were a memory leak, just that the ones with 16GB would take longer to see...

First thing I would check would be the medium. Are you modifying the correct medium?

That's the one that usually bites me when I've had this problem.
