structure and PDF publishing
Currently, my team publishes PDFs separately from HTML files (for the html, we use a destination file) for our internal server. We SFTP the pdfs using WINSCP, a whole separate process. We would prefer to simplify our process, and could use some ideas on how to do so. Our PDFs link off of their HTML ...

Re: Alternate colors for different pdf targets
Thank you, I'll work through that.
And thanks for the text version! (as we can't access the editors due to using CSS exceeding their support! lol)

Alternate colors for different pdf targets
My docs have a lot of internal-only content. We have this styled to not appear in PDF outputs, which are customer-facing. In html5 output, the internal text (for internal targets) is styled to appear as black text in a red box; it is hidden/does not appear in external targets. I also need to generat...

Flare 2021 r2 freezing
Since the last release, Flare has frozen on me several times a day. I close it with task manager and then restart. Restarting Flare and Windows doesn't help. Are other folks having this issue?
How do I resolve it?
Thanks.

Re: Tiny Icons and Overlapping Settings Fields
I have this issue now, ever since I got a new Windows machine last month. It is really hard to work. I have two monitors, both set to their recommended resolutions, and looking equally awful. Help!

& with Capture/Re: Flare 2019
For the last couple of weeks (perhaps corresponding to the latest Flare update, though I didn't track it per say), Madcap Capture has been endlessly hanging. It would seem like a memory problem, save Flare and other image editors work just fine in my Windows VM. Is this a known issue; eg latest Flar...

appearance of code in PDFs
I have a number of code samples in different languages in my doc set. They are tagged with <pre>, which doesn't line break no matter what. A lot of the Java code samples are too long (too deeply indented) to work on a PDF page; the code disappears off the right side of the page. I copy the code samp...

font control in table stylesheets
I am creating new tablestyles. I have two mediums; print and default (online) and two audiences; internal and external. The two mediums need to have different font families and the two audiences have different font colors. I haven't found a way to set those two font characteristic groups per medium ...

Pale TOC
I have a TOC page which includes a Flare TOC; an output toc proxy (I did not create the original file, so I can't speak to the toc proxy choice). For some reason, the generated TOC is very pale, a super light gray. The manually entered title looks just fine. The toc proxy says it uses the p.toc1-etc...

Thanks.
Unhappily, I can't upgrade yet. There is some sort of security issue; we are waiting on Flare to provide a fix. In the meanwhile, I'm stuck.

PDF graphics display poorly; fine in preview
I have a pdf target (meant to actually be printed) with a graphics display issue. The graphics appear fine in Preview (pdf medium selected), but when the PDF is generated, the text fields are either missing or reduced down to one (giant) word. You can see this in the attachment. I am using Flare 201...

broken cross references in external files

However, all of the cross-references within the external files (to other external files in the second project, all of which are mapped as external files) are ...

creating pdfs for complex situations
Hi all- I am looking for ideas/approaches. I am making a sort of uber project, combining all three documents that customers currently have to refer to when deciding to upgrade their appliances into one project/webguide (html5, topnav), where the user can easily move across topics to get related info...

Re: every topic appears on a new page, even when set 'none'
A co-worker found the solution. It was to go to the target properties > advanced > Generated TOC > select Use TOC depth for heading levels.
Works now.

every topic appears on a new page, even when set 'none'
I have a project which will have both html5 and pdf output. I'm happy with how the HTML output looks. However, every topic (H1) in the pdf appears on its own page, even though I have Break Type set to None in the TOC. What do I need to set to have the topics appear on the same page? - There are curr...

Re: Crash when changing icon image in topnav skin
Thanks Mark. No luck with the png. It shows as selected, then OK and crash.
My Flare is up to date. Another good question.
I will try to get someone else in the office to try this when I get a chance. Open to any other ideas.
Thanks.
Lance

Re: Crash when changing icon image in topnav skin
Hi Mark. Good question. So I tried it. Still crashed. Are you thinking a path length limit? The image is a png. I also just tried creating a new version of the image. This one was color so I could see it; it did appear on the insert image window, but then Flare crashed again on OK. Next idea? :-) Th...

Crash when changing icon image in topnav skin
I am attempting to edit an html5 topnav skin. Every time I attempt to replace the logo, Flare crashes. This happens when I've browsed to the new image (located in the general resources/images folder), then click OK on the Insert Image window. This brings up more questions. Where are skin images actu...

Re: how do I crop out what I *don't* want
Nothing. Or white space/fill.
For concept; imagine a capture that consists of layered screen shots, and part of the main application as the backdrop behind it all. I want to clip out the random section of application backdrop.

how do I crop out what I *don't* want
I would like to draw a square around the part of an image I don't want, and delete it (as opposed to using the crop tool, where you get only the square only). Perhaps you'd call it inverse cropping. Seems like this should be really easy to do, but I sure don't see how. Help, and thanks.

Re: Entering text/cursor problems
In case anyone else gets this problem, here is what solved it (thanks to the Support guy!): deleting the "CatapultMdiEditor" folder by following the steps below. This essentially resets the Flare user interface. If you have any Layouts you wish to save, go into the CatapultMdiEditor folder...

Re: Bug: Unable to View Scroll Bar in Topic Window in Flare
I got the solution from a coworker. On the upper 'local' toolbar in an open topic in the XML editor, click the last right eyeball icon, and on the dropdown, uncheck Enable Object Positioning. This solved the problem. I had to do it on a few different topics to get it to 'take' on the project as a wh...
