Re: Force Page Break

Sorry, I just saw your response -- thank you. I got it working, but I have to apply my .pagebreakbefore style to the body text of the drop-down. Many thanks!

Re: Creating Note, Tip, Warning Styles with Images

I got it! Watched the webinar and fiddled around with my styles and it is working. I do have one additional question though. I have increased my line height to account for the image, however, whenever I have text that goes beyond one line, I have a large gap in between. I am guessing this is a ...

Re: Force Page Break

Hi Choccie,

I've created a global style as you have. Do you apply yours to the dropDownHotspot style, and if so, does it work? I've placed mine at the top of my CSS and added page break before=always, and applied it after inserting a drop-down but it's not working.

Thanks,
Keri

Re: Creating Note, Tip, Warning Styles with Images

Adding the text to the image itself is not ideal because in the PDF version my images blur. I fear it will look worse if the text is blurry too. Not sure if anyone else can work out how I can achieve this?

I've gotten this far which looks OK, but it doesn't match perfectly. It's annoying because I ...

Re: Creating Note, Tip, Warning Styles with Images

Thanks for your help. I made your suggested changes and then tweaked the autonumbering properties a tad to enable a note type to appear above the image. This is what it looks like.

Capture2.PNG

Is there a way to enable 'Notes' to be left aligned (without left padding), but have 50 px of left ...

Creating Note, Tip, Warning Styles with Images

Hello,

I am trying to replicate some custom Word template styles created by another department in my company. For text displayed in a Warning, Note, or Tip box, I need to create corresponding styles that have a graphic and ideally auto-populate the title of the style in italic. The styles should ...

XML Editor Stuck in Landscape Page Layout View

Hi guys,

This is likely an easy fix, but I am at a loss. In one of my projects I chose to view a topic in the XML Editor in my landscape page layout. But now every topic opens up by default in landscape mode. When I change the view in a topic, the page layout updates appropriately, but as soon as I ...

Re: Unwanted Space in Footer

Thanks for the replies, but I haven't had any luck. I added a negative indent and the space is still there. And for clarification, my image/page number is within the table cells already.

Unwanted Space in Footer

Hello,

I updated my styles recently and am running into some issues.

I added a 1.12 em bottom margin for my "table" style to allow some space in between tables/text. However, I also use a single row within my footers, so now there is a wider gap in between my page number/image and the border they ...

Re: Applying List Styles

Thanks, Steve. Can you tell me the steps you take when creating your list and applying that p or generic style? I created a generic indent style and a p.listParagraph style with the indent, but the number remains regardless of whether I select the style when the content is using a li style or a p ...

Applying List Styles

There may be a super easy way to do this, but I am at a loss. I am trying to make applying list styles more efficient, and am creating a CSS that uses the ol and ul styles for lists, rather than p styles.

My previous styles include p.bul1, 2, and 3, which have three levels of indents and use ...

Page Layout Problems

Hello,

I am having issues with page layouts. Basically I have used MadCap's "ChapterResizable" page layout template as a starting point, but created and modified my page layouts as needed.

Within my PL.flpgl file, I have the following:Title, Normal, Left, Right, First Left, First Right. Title and ...

Re: Variables Displaying in Different Style in Online Output

OK, MadCap Support helped resolve this in the end. If anyone runs into the issue in the future, it was my span class, which needed to be set to default.

Re: Variables Displaying in Different Style in Online Output

OK, I am getting views but no replies!

I have a feeling it may have something to do with the fact that I am using installed fonts that come in bold, light, etc. For example, I have Open Sans Semibold assigned to headings in both print and online outputs, and Open Sans assigned to paragraph styles ...

Variables Displaying in Different Style in Online Output

Hello,

I updated my styles and somehow created a problem in my HTML5 output. Basically, in headings where any variables have been inserted, the variables are displaying unbolded (or less bold) than the rest of the heading text. My PDF is fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keri

Hello,

I am trying to take Nita's advice, but I can't seem to find the "Group" function she mentioned. Can someone point me in the right direction? I am using version 9 of Flare.

Unbind Drop-Down Text Option Deletes Content

I've been meaning to write about this for ages as I can't seem to find any threads where other people have experienced the same issue...

Whenever I use the "Unbind Drop-down Text" option, any text within the drop-down that goes beyond the first page in that topic gets deleted. It happens every time ...

Thank you sooooo very much. That worked like a charm.

And just FYI, I did not have to mess around with the brackets. :D

Numbering issues when using numbered and alphabetical lists

My numbered and alphabetical list styles aren't cooperating! When I use my alpha list style after using my p.num1Start style (which starts the list at Step 1), the lettered list works great. But when I apply my p.num1Continue style to continue my numbering sequence (when the alpha list ends), the ...

Re: Image linked to pop-ups

Hi Lisa,

When I am in the dialog to link topics containing the pop-up text, the Style Class field is disabled so I can't apply a.popup to it. I literally can only select Popup Window from the Target Frame drop-down. So that's why I assumed I needed to apply the html.popup style to it.

Is there ...

Re: mc-multiline-indent Not Working in HTML5 Output

Thank you! I am guilty of that as well--but in this case there is a bug, which I have reported to MadCap. I tried everything and could not get it working. There was a workaround that MC support provided me in the end. You have to adjust your padding and text-indent instead because the multi-line ...

Re: Image linked to pop-ups

Thanks Lisa. You're always such a big help!

I've got my pop-ups working from the image, but I need to resize the box. Ideally, I'd like the box to auto-size based on the amount of content with some maximum so it doesn't look ridiculous on the screen. I've followed instructions and adjusted the html ...

Image linked to pop-ups

Hello,

Re: MadCap dropDownHead Style Ignoring Properties

I've opened a request with MC Support to look into this, as well as another property that the dropdown styles seem to ignore--autonumbering. Still no response. Is anyone else using drop downs with numbered lists? There has to be a way to get this to work. Can someone please help? I can get numbered ...
