This will sound weird, but: I have a project with several "manuals" folders. The manuals all share the same style sheets, master pages, page layouts, common images, etc. There is a master TOC, but the child TOCs all have the same properties. However, one manual set is not showing the bread...

Make sure you understand their script. Build order in a multi-component system can be a little tricky. For example, you may need to build some child projects first to get the current version called up by the parent.
