Re: MadCap Support Submission Issues?
Well, I'm embarrassed. I didn't even consider the spam filter - I have an updated version of Office from my previous one, and I guess the spam filter is being a tad bit aggressive when it comes to MadCap stuff (looks like Matt Paskow's marketing stuff is ending up there too!). I've received a ...

MadCap Support Submission Issues?
In the past, when I've submitted a support issue to MadCap, I have always received an autoresponse via email within a few minutes that support has received my issue. It usually takes a business day to get an actual response from a MadCap representative, but they are always courteous and prompt ...

Re: Master Topic Exclude List?
I understand what you're saying. Normally, I don't want to have broken links. The issue is that the conditional logic in my project is already overbearing, given that we produce out of the same project 2 products, with 1 product having 3 editions and the other having 6, and the product having 3 ...

Master Topic Exclude List?
Is there any way to mark pages as "Do Not Include" without slapping conditions on them for HTML5 targets? I have an alternate use for some of my documentation pages (for a training guide), and pages keep getting sucked into the target because they're hyperlinked from pages I want to include. I truly ...

This helped a lot! You were right it was more about figuring out what knobs to fiddle with. The only remaining problem I have (well, for this situation, anyway) is that h2, h3, h4 headings within individual topics are also pulled into the PDF TOC. For example, the TOC in the editor has ...

Re: PDF TOC Woes
Hi. Thanks for the quick response (and for giving me hope that what I want is indeed possible).
In the TOC, child topics are nested under their parent topics. They're set up exactly as I would expect them to be in an HTML5 tripane presentation.
In my CSS, I have the media TrainingPDF that has the ...

PDF TOC Woes
I am completely lost on how to deal with a PDF TOC in Flare 11. There seems to be so many hoops to jump through, and I cannot get the generated output to look like what I have in my head (the desired results). Maybe someone can at least point me in the right direction before I bang my head against a ...

Re: Missing navigation panel
After trying several things, I did a diff between the skin file a couple of times ago and the one now. As it turns out, the flag for the "Hide Navigation Pane on Startup" was new in the file (set to false though). I changed it to true in the UI, rebuilt, then changed it to false again, rebuilt, and ...

Missing navigation panel
All of a sudden, my navigation panel on the left side of my HTML5 output has gone missing. I have no idea why. The "Hide Navigation Pane on Startup" check box is unselected. The pane size is 350px. I haven't made any changes to the skin since it last worked. There doesn't seem to be any way to turn ...

Conditions and Sanity
Conditions in Flare are really starting to make me question my sanity. We maintain multiple versions of our software (at least 4 at the moment), and then we have a subset of documentation that is also a standalone product (which also has several different flavors - although they are not at the ...

Repurposing parts of topics in multiple outputs?
We have a documentation set that we use to produce online help and a PDF. These are pretty much 1:1 as far as the topics and info contained in them. Now I have a request from our training organization to leverage the documentation in building a training manual. However, they want to use parts of ...

Automatically Adding Bookmarks (<a name> tags) to h2,h3,h4
We are producing HTML5 output that is published to a website. We have a lot of internal folks that access the documentation, and often have long pages with multiple subheads (h2, h3, h4) due to the nature of our content. Is there a way for Flare to either automatically create bookmarks for each of ...

Re: Creating a Small Target and Excluding Unnecessary Files
Nothing seemed to work until I rebooted my system. Then it seemed to work fine. Not sure why it happened this way, but regardless, it is working now.

Using Mini-TOC for Topic-Level TOCs?
I'm working on a documentation set with a lot of longer topics. In the short run, the set will probably stay this way - I hope to break things apart as the documentation develops, but that's probably longer term. I want users to be able to drill down within a topic from a mini TOC (think the TOCs on ...

Creating a Small Target and Excluding Unnecessary Files
Hi all.
I'm trying to create a small HTML5 target with just a few files in it -- a subset of my current project. I created the HTML5 target and a new TOC. I've created a new skin that only includes my TOC and not the Index, Glossary, etc. And I selected the option in the Target to Exclude content ...

Limiting styles available in contribution template?
I am creating a contribution template for my SMEs to use in Contributor. We're all new to this process, and I want to make life simpler for everyone by reducing the number of formatting options for our contributors (everything is going to be looked over and integrated by writers in Flare anyway ...

Re: Applying a Condition to a Style?
The H1 headers are duplicated in what we're trying to do, which is have our output hooked into a WordPress site. The WordPress template is apparently pulling the page name from the <title> tag and using it for a stylized presentation of the name (which is fine), but the H1 on the page is the same ...

Applying a Condition to a Style?
Is there any way I can apply a condition to a style? For example, if I wanted to conditionalize all h1 headers to have a condition so I could turn them all on or off in a specific target? I'd much rather make a stylesheet change than have to go through each page and conditionalize the h1 for the page.

Keeping Track of Topic Status?
First off, I'm new to Flare, so go easy on me if there's an obvious answer to my question.
I'm converting a lot of existing documentation from a a wiki into a Flare project for eventual single sourcing and all-around better ease of use from a doc management perspective. I am working with another ...
