Re: Removing glossary term defs from search result abstract

I've also logged this but still no fix from MadCap. Their support is incredible but I can't say the same for development. This is a serious bug which results in unprofessional output. Worse still, it looks through these embedded pieces of text when it searches. Glossary links are by nature ...

Re: Prevent users from copying content

I managed to stop pasting of text by adding the following to the body in the master page:

<body oncopy="return false" oncut="return false" onpaste="return false">

The right-click copy option still appears but when you paste, nothing happens. I haven't figured out how to do it with diagrams because ...

Re: Expand TOC by default

Thanks, I hadn't noticed this had stopped working. For some reason, the click event on the TOC nodes has changed to a div inside the li node, so now you have to simulate the click on the div instead of the li element. I'm not sure when this happened. That's the thing with JavaScript; browser updates ...

Re: Heading for Word

TeSol, it creates the Word navigation panel automatically when you generate the output, but you have to have Flare 12. Mine does it without numbered paragraphs, if that's what you mean.

Re: Heading for Word

Yaaay - Flare 12 now maps the Flare headings to the Word headings, so you get a navigation panel. I used to get embarrassed telling people, "Here's your word version. Just don't expect a navigation panel." Not any more!

Now we just need them to get dropdown text to respect page-break-before in ...

Note, Flare 12 is 64 bit. When I installed it, I couldn't see my eps files anymore. I installed the 64 bit version of GhostScript and it now works.

Re: Search freezes, search filters don't appear

MichaelB, it's not you. Flare keeps on ticking this box and I only find out when the search doesn't work. It's happened to me twice. I haven't been able to recreate it but it might be to do with adding a new destination.

Re: Problems with cross-frame references in Chrome

Hi Mike,

Thanks for replying. I didn't think about that but I'm sure it would work. The problem is that we don't have any intention of ever hosting the help on a web server. We want the look of HTML5 but not on the web. The developers are dead against installing any kind of web infrastructure at ...

Problems with cross-frame references in Chrome

Hi,

I've written several bits of code in JavaScript/Jquery where I look at details in frames other than the topic frame. For example, to see if the navigation pane is open when resizing the browser, I set a variable:
displayed=top.$("#navigation").css("display");

It's the "top." part that makes it ...

Getting small images in PDF

I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem:

I use styles to size my printed images. I have styles set up with max-widths in 5% increments from 35% to 100%. The percentages relate to percentage of the page rather than percentage of real image size. I'll admit, I've been warned by support ...

Re: Tooltips for new Toolbar items HTML5 Output

With the advent of V11, there is a different problem:

They have fixed the automatic change of the language, but there are no lines in the UI text tab for new buttons added, and you cannot add a line.

I am working on a top navigation project. I added three new buttons to the toolbar and they did ...

Re: Expand TOC by default

PS.

This does not work in Flare V11. To get it to work, the line where the click is simulated should be changed to:

topNodes.childNodes[0].click();

Re: Link to distant topics not working in Firefox

Hi Cwestpha. Thanks for replying.

To clarify your question, I have a small project with topics in it. In those topics, there are hyperlinks to topics in my main project output (which exists entirely separately, but on the same server).

you are accessing something that is acting like web content ...

Link to distant topics not working in Firefox

Hi,

I have a small Flare project that keeps track of changes made to our software. Since software changes affect the documentation, I include links to affected topics in the main help project. Because the affected topics are not part of the smaller project, I merely include a file hyperlink to the ...

Re: Flare 11 glitch?

In resolving this, I only deleted the <OriginalImage> element, not the whole props file. All of my superimposed information was retained and remained editable in Capture. The element comes back if you edit the image in Capture, but it is correct for the latest image.

When dealing with Support they ...

Update:

Support said that this is expected behaviour for the feature. However they agreed to log a request to change the documentation to say that. I see it didn't make it into the V11 documentation.

Yes Dave. That's the issue. However it never manifested itself until V11. Suddenly I had a bunch of old images instead of my shiny new ones.

Re: Flare 11 glitch?

I haven't seen any messages like yours, but my HTML (CHM) output is definitely not the same in V11. Rounded borders missing; bullets missing; shadows missing; content using :after missing... it looks awful.

It works fine in V10, and HTML5 output in V11 is fine.. I have logged a support call.

I ...

Re: Hyperlinks in Image Map not working (HTML5)

Wouldn't it be nice if we could link hotspots to one of those twirly whirly 3D augmented thingies in V11. It would make a nice alternative top-level TOC. Imagine a dodecahedron or something that you twirl around and click on the facets. Just dreaming... gotta get the 2D image map working first.

Re: Visited Links in a TOC - Update

According to this link, it appears that images can no longer be styled on visited links:

However that doesn't explain why it's not remembering which links I've visited. I think toc entries are just ...

Visited Links in a TOC

The links in an HTML5 TOC do not seem to exhibit the normal visited link behaviour, where the link changes colour after you have visited it (as with hyperlinks inside a topic). This is fine under normal circumstances because I usually wouldn't like a multi-coloured Table of Contents.

However, I'm ...

Re: Expand TOC by default

I figured out a workaround in JavaScript. I think the problem is that the elements don't actually exist in the HTML until you open up a book icon in a TOC. It must then go away and retrieve the related topics.

This code works by simulating a click on each top-level book. It runs when you double ...

Re: Topics being duplicated

Thank you both for responding.

In some cases I find it more useful to start with a topic that has similar content to what I'm trying to create, so I don't have to re-think everything. I wouldn't even know I wanted a template like that until I needed it. It's the content I need as a starting point ...
