Re: Linked projects or multiple targets?
Hi! Interesting thread! We are currently facing the same decision, so this has been very valuable. To chime in: thinking about one gigantic Flare project with potentially tends of thousands of topics and hundreds of targets makes me worry about performance for the people actually using this project ...

Re: Stop using archaic image maps and start using hover maps
Hi Mike, Since I saw you present these hover maps at MadWorld I wanted to give this a shot and now I have finally had a chance. It works great, expect for one thing: when hovering the mouse over the hotspots, they don't become visible in my case. Meaning they remain grayed out as if not hovered over...

Re: Replace Image on Mouseover
Thanks Lee! Yes, this makes sense, if it only concerns the background image. However, what I wanted to achieve is something like what you can see on this page: http://jsfiddle.net/DRRnu/205/ A hyperlinked image that changes to another image on mouseover. It seems to work fine on this page using the ...

Re: Replace Image on Mouseover
I've built the target and viewed in IE11 and Chrome. No success. In one of the trials I got to see the replacement (background) image appear underneath the hyperlinked image on mouseover, but the first image did not disappear...

Replace Image on Mouseover
Hi! I am trying to achieve the following: A hyperlinked image should be replaced by a different image on hover (mouseover). Imagine I have a red square logo that links to another page and when the user hovers the mouse over it, it turns into a green square. This page suggests it is possible to achie...

Re: Exclude Topics from Glossary term conversion
Hi! I don't know about entire topics, but there is a way to stop sections within topics from picking up the glossary definitions, There is a CSS property called "mc-disable-glossary-terms" that you can find in the Unclassified section. I usually create classes of the <p> or or other styles...

Re: Possible to edit system variables?
OK, i just found my solution and since it's not possible to delete a forum posting, I'm going to post it here as well: What I wanted to achieve is a lot easier using simply the auto-number feature. So I created a p. style that uses the auto-numbering mc-auto-number-format {filename} which comes with...

Possible to edit system variables?
Hi! I want to include the topic file name as a topic ID in a box that appears on top of every topic (web output). There is the system variable "SourceFile" that does the job but it includes the file extension .htm which I don't need. So I was wondering if there was a way to edit the system...

Re: Lingo and Flare and SDL Studio
Hi Uwe, thanks for your detailed description! I have a few questions or some of the steps are a little confusing to me. We are basically following a similar approach translating Flare projects in Trados Studio but so far I have always tried to use the Lingo XLIFFs in Studio. This works mostly fine, ...

Re: My HTML5 TOC is scrambled in one target but not in the o
Thanks for your help, dorcutt! In the end, it turned out that it was an issue with the permissions on the Sharepoint where I publish the content. Each of the 2 outputs goes to a different Sharepoint site and I had to learn that my permissions on one of them were not sufficient so I could publish the...

My HTML5 TOC is scrambled in one target but not in the other
Hi! I am working on a project (in Flare 10) with 2 HTML5 targets that are basically all the same except that one of the target has a few topics conditioned out (this is my production output) and the other has none of the topics conditioned out (that's the pre-production output). Both target use the ...

Re: How have they done it? Big search bar & drop-down menus
Thanks Dave! I had actually seen this blog post of yours before but did not really have the time to dive in and check out how I can apply this to my project. Will give it more time soon.
Congrats on your blog, by the way! Keep it up!

Re: How have they done it? Big search bar & drop-down menus
Thanks for all your answers - and thanks for the link to Flarestrap, Justin! I will definitely check this out. In the meantime I have managed to modify the size and position of the search bar with a post-building/pre-publishing hack to the stylesheet and also managed to create bigger dropdown menus....

Need help styling dropdown head and hotspot
Hi! I am trying to make the dropdown head a little more prominent and give it some mouse-over hover effect. So far, this has all worked quite ok, except that when the hover effect is visible my hotspot is running outside of the dropdown head to the right and I can't seem to understand why... Check o...

"File Open" dialog freezes Flare for minutes
Hi, whenever I try to open a file from within Flare, it will freeze completely for 5-10 minutes before the actual file selection window opens and I can continue. This happens when I try to insert an image from the Insert Image dialog, but it also happens when creating a new topic and using the "...

How have they done it? Big search bar & drop-down menus
Hi! Looking at the Customer Samples on the MadCap website, I've come across this documentation website from a company called Rediker Software. You can check it out here: http://redikersupport.com/documentation/ I'm quite astonished this has been done in Flare! How did they make this big seach bar on...

Re: Creating a Snippet from a table!
Hi Shawn, I have also been struggling with converting tables to snippets (have not reported the disabled Snippet button, though). However, instead of inserting the table's code into a blank snippet file, there is another easy way that works perfectly for me. Simply select your table and right click ...

Assign individual glossaries to specific topics?
Hi! I was wondering if there was a way to include several glossaries in my project and make them appear only with specific topics. Something like this: In my project I have a section about a tool called "ABC". In this section there are about 10 topics. Another section deals with tool "...

Preview Function?
I've been looking for a preview function in Contributor that allows you to generate a preview of your web-based output. Similar to the functionality in Flare. So far, the only thing I found is the Print Preview but, obviuosly, this gives only the preview of the print output, not the web output. Is t...
