Re: Should I create a Word target INSTEAD of PDF?
I use the Word target rarely and only for one-off documents that don't necessarily need to be housed in my Flare project and don't need to be linked or cross-referenced anywhere (because it doesn't need to be published from Flare to any of my publishing targets like html). I created a Word template ...

Re: Which graphic software are you using?
SnagIt is all I've been using for 5 years in my current role. It works for about 95% of our screenshot needs so we've had no reason to switch to something else or purchase something different, such as Madcap's image editing tool.

Re: New Folders/Books
I've been able to change the icon before by going to the Project Organizer > open the Skin > go to the Styles tab on the left > Navigation then TOC entry > Icons. There's options to change the image for a closed book, open book, topic icon, and other options.

Broken Link missing file
Hi, I'm using Flare V11 and generated a report for broken links, also using the Project Analysis tool. The reports shows I have a broken link in one of my page layouts where I must have had a header logo image before and now it's no longer linking to the image. The image is still in my images folder...

Do you have the option to expand the Toc Entry and see the Icons? I'm using version 11 and see this.

Re: cover page
Similar to what Nita said, I typically include our company logo, title, and usually the date for a subtitle. Sometimes we'll include a photo on the cover along with the other items I mentioned. For consistency, most of our cover pages for different documents are the same besides swapping out the tit...

Re: Word import: why won't my lists come in properly?
I have another issues with lists I haven't come across in another thread. Sometimes there will be a random page break in the ordered list in my Word output. I'm not sure what's causing that but I've played with different css settings in my topic and reproduce the Word file and it still breaks up the...

Re: Exporting Online Help to Word or PDF
I'm curious to know how Madcap does it in the Flare v11 online help that I reference. I noticed they have a PDF button in some but not all of their web topics in the topic toolbar, and they also keep the print option to just print the web page and not save a pdf. flarev11_pdf_toolbar.png We currentl...

Word Target files
Hi, upon business request, I've been producing some Word files from Flare for review purposes only . Some SMEs prefer Word to review content for changes and insert text there rather than commenting in notes in an Adobe pdf file (also note we've tried Contributor in the past and they still prefer Wor...

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for or if it may be of any help but this article from the Madcap blog briefly talks about nesting paragraphs in lists.

Re: Tripane logo placment
There are some settings within the skin you can change. Try this, open the skin you use for tripane in the Skins folder under Project Organizer. Then go to Styles > Header > Logo > Alignment.

I've found this also happens if you manually resize the image by clicking and dragging it rather than setting the size in css or within the properties.

I still have this issue of the expanding text body wrapping to the second line and can't figure out a fix. Maybe I will submit it to Madcap as a bug. I'm using Flare V11.

Re: page break after TOC heading
You might check the page break properties of your H1 style in the CSS. I checked mine and have the page-break-inside to "avoid". I'm not sure if this would resolve the issue but something to try.

Re: Table of Revisions?
The description of the User field I found in Flare's online help. I had to look it up because nothing ever populates in that column for me. From my understanding it has to do with source control and the name of the user, but I don't have source control implemented so that must be why it doesn't popu...

Re: Replicating an existing topic
Are you pasting into the same project? Is the correct CSS associated and are you in the correct medium? It's possible there was inline formatting rather than CSS styles that were used in the original topic and those may not have copied over. Not sure but just a few things to check.

I'm sure there are several different ways you could go about this but I'll include a few ideas I've implemented in the past. A checklist or list of items you should run through may be helpful. If they have had any experience with a content management system, I've found it's a quick transition to Fla...

Re: Table of Revisions?
I'm not sure if this is on the right track of what you're looking for, but I have a template in Excel I use for a similar purpose. If you have file tags set up and you go to the File List in Flare, you can choose to show/hide columns (including file tags) for each topic. You can select all files or ...

PDF font style missing
Hello, and thanks in advance. I use Myriad Pro as heading style for only PDF output. The style was applying correctly last week. Today, I opened Flare and my PDF heading styles are only applying Arial font. I checked my local machine and found the Myriad Pro font. However, it's not an option as a fo...
