Re: How to close the Preview pane

I've just had the same issue (never seen it before), and even rebooting didn't make it go away - when I reopened Flare, there was the preview window opened halfway off-screen, with nothing to grab.
Windows Key + arrow key worked for me, thanks Psider if you're still on here after all this time!

Re: Help-PDF output giving error

Only just spotted this (almost two years down the line), but I've previously solved this error by shortening some very long image filenames in my project. If just one filename is too long (when you take the complete path of the file structure into account) the build can fail, so it's good practice t...

Re: Conditional text in multi-target with single pdf output

Hi, Unfortunately although you can apply conditions to a TOC, that isn't the same as including or excluding the conditioned content - you can only actually include or exclude conditions at the target level. So when you create a master target of multiple TOCs, any included or excluded content is appl...

Re: Vertical table heads in PDF output

If you're really confident with CSS you can edit your stylesheets directly, so rather than double-click to open it, use right-click > Open with > Internal Text Editor. Even if you don't feel happy adding or modifying styles that way, it can be very useful to use the text editor to search for particu...

Re: SideNav Skin TOC Link issue

Hi connor, I think you need to synchronise the TOC. Do you have Synchronize navigation elements with TOC entries unchecked on the Target's Advanced tab? If so, try selecting it. This issue is described in the example on the topic Synchronizing Navigation Elements With TOC Entries in the Flare online...

No stylesheet in review package, plus TOC view issue

I haven't used Contributor for years but might need to start again soon so I'm just having a play, but have a couple of problems: I've created a review package in Flare and opened it in Contributor (full version), but the topics don't have any styles applied, although they have the correct styleshee...

Flare Micro Content and Chatbots

Hi all, hoping someone can help. I've been asked to come up with a project proposal to add a sort of virtual assistant to our software, which would be a chatbot (Hopper) linked to micro content maintained in Flare. I'll be working with a developer who will be responsible for the chatbot side of thin...

Still haven't installed 2019 r2 here yet, there seemed to be so many reported issues. Hoping that someone who's installed the latest version will come on here and report that all is well. Any takers?

Re: Upgrade to 2019 R2 problems

I haven't dared to go to the new version yet because of the problems people seem to be having, even though there are a couple of features I'd like to use. Waiting to see if MadCap can come up with something a bit more stable first.

Re: Importing from Confluence?

It would have been extremely useful for us a couple of years ago. At that time we had all of our user documents in Confluence. When we started to implement Flare we found that there was no easy way to get our documents out of Confluence and into Flare, the best method we came up with was to export f...

Re: Exclude a glossary term in a topic

One way to do this is to create a new generic class in your CSS that uses the mc-disable-glossary-terms property as described in Ignoring Glossary Terms in Styles , then apply that to the term wherever it appears in the topic. This is what I use, you can just add it through the text editor if you're...

Re: Floating licenses: terminating a session after a crash?

Capture does the same - we have three floating licences and at one point I had to call Madcap Support to get them to kill off the extra sessions. Like you, we couldn't see them in Task Manager.

I'll watch this thread with interest to see if there's an easy solution!

Re: Best method for making PDF+HTML note boxes with icons

We just use a png for our warning/note/info/tip images, created at the size we want it to be in the output so it's fixed and doesn't resize. It works well for both PDF and HTML output. Our code is based on the examples in this article CSS Tip: Creating Styled Boxes for Notes, Warnings, Examples, and...

Re: @media print tables issues

We've had problems getting table column widths to stick. Our Flare trainer and consultant (Matthew Ellison) couldn't work out what was going on, he checked our table stylesheets very carefully and couldn't see anything wrong but eventually he hit upon a slightly peculiar solution that seems to work ...

At MadWorld Europe last year I made this point several times to Madcap staff. As above - just click into or select the text you want to annotate then the button should become active - but also note that you can't annotate an image (I usually just annotate the text immediately before).

I'm having a similar issue. I am able to successfully push local changes to my remote branches, synchronize, etc., however the "Author" information reflects a user of "unknown <unknown@madcapsoftware.com>": This issue seems to have occurred only after upgrade to Flare 2019. I'm ...

Re: Git: No longer pushing changes to Git

We use Git with BitBucket. I've had this happen twice and after a lot of searching the only solution I found was to unbind the project from the original BitBucket repository, create a new repository and bind to that instead. Then it all worked fine until the next time the same thing happened (it has...

Re: Push and Pull buttons do not push and pull (only commit)

Did you manage to fix this? We use Git and Bitbucket as well. I've had this happen several times, I suspect it's caused by conflicts between two authors' work. The only way I found to fix it was to delete my local version of the project and connect to it again from scratch, creating a new local copy...

Glad I spotted this, I really like Madcap's help layout as well. I'm using sidenav at the moment but our online help isn't live outside the company yet and I have pretty much carte blanche over its design, so after I've got our next release guide finished I might just start having a play :)

Solved! Re: Git - "this remote has never connected"

Solved the problem - well, my version of it anyway. I had no problem logging directly into BitBucket and pushing changes where the Git repository had already been populated, it was the initial push of a new project to a new repository that was the problem. As well as not being able to log into BitBu...
