Add a file to the top folder in html5 output
Does anyone know if there's a way I can add a file to the top-level folder of my html5 help output when Flare generates the help? Help Output - Top Level Folder.png My developers need me to include an extra html file at this level--not buried in one of the folders. I don't know how to get it there o...

Re: Is there an elegant way to add a chapter heading above h
Thanks for the thoughtful responses! The best solution I was able to come up on my own is the same thing doloremipsum recommended. I'm just not crazy about the way the TOC looks with chapter headings at the same level as the h1 headings, but I too haven't found any other way around this without bump...

Re: Is there an elegant way to add a chapter heading above h
Oh, that is helpful. Were you able to get the chapter title to appear in the table of contents? The other issue I'm encountering is that if I try to add the chapter heading as an mc-heading-level 1, everything else still gets bumped down. Or do you just not have the chapter title in the TOC?

Is there an elegant way to add a chapter heading above h1?
Here's my conundrum: sometimes I create longer guides with chapters, and sometimes I create shorter docs that do not have chapters. For longer guides, I want to be able to inject chapter headings above my h1s as needed. But I don't want this to impact my existing heading styles (i.e. bump them all d...

Re: Drawing shapes with something other than a solid line
Thanks for your answer! I thought for sure I was going crazy and just missing it somewhere, since it seems like such basic functionality not to have. I'm able to turn the border line around the entire image into a dotted/dashed line (if I were so inclined)... and I'm able to change the width and col...

Drawing shapes with something other than a solid line
Am I missing something, or is there really no way to make a shape (rectangle, polygon, or circle) with a dotted or dashed line for the border? It draws the shape with a solid line, and there doesn't appear to be any property setting to change it to a dashed or dotted line. So far I've been able to w...

Re: Disconnected from source control by default
Thank you for responding! I'm hesitant to unbind and rebind just because I've had a TON of various issues with TFS over the last few months--big issues like not being able to check in new files through Flare--and after unbinding and rebinding several dozen times, and then finally upgrading, those th...

Disconnected from source control by default
I just upgraded to TFS 2017 / Flare 2017 R3, and I'm experiencing a new issue. Every time I open Flare and then open one of my source-control-bound projects, source control is disconnected by default. I have to manually go to Source Control > Connect and then manually do a Get Latest All . This issu...

Re: Delete/rename files while disconnected from source contr
Thanks for your answer! I had thought of that but came up with my roundabout idea as a way to keep source control clean of obsolete projects. However, I can see that it would be too risky and sometimes the simplest solution is the best solution. Binding my local copy worked fine. Thanks again.

Delete/rename files while disconnected from source control?
To summarize a long story, over the weekend, someone at my company decided to upgrade our TFS server and migrate it to a new location with no warning or notice. Because the new version of TFS is incompatible with my version of Flare, it broke everything. No warning--just came in one morning and coul...

Re: Index keywords in Word output
The Show/Hide markers toggle is always off and is not relevant to this issue. The issue is that the "Always show these formatting marks on the screen" checkboxes are all cleared in Word, but then when I generate a Word target in Flare and open the doc, the "Hidden Text" checkbox ...

Re: Index keywords in Word output
I know this is an old thread, but I am still encountering this issue today. Has anyone found a solution to get Flare to stop re-selecting the option to show hidden text in Word?

Fix line height of wrapped text in tripane skin nav panel
When my tripane help shrinks down to tablet/mobile size, I don't like the way the topic names in the navigation panel are wrapping. There's enough space between lines that at first glance, it looks like two entries instead of one. And the icon is very oddly placed between the two lines. Nav Panel.pn...

Re: How can I change my Git credentials?
I heard back from MadCap Support on this issue--I'll post the solution in case anyone encounters this in the future. If you clear the Flare registry, then you will be able to enter your SSH Public and Private Keys. This should make your branch updates show under your name. Here are the steps to clea...

How can I change my Git credentials?
For initial Git setup purposes, I "borrowed" the QA manager's user name and password. I believe it was these steps I followed: http://webhelp.madcapsoftware.com/flare12/Content/Interface/UI_Elements/Certificate_Specification_Dialog.htm?Highlight=git%20ssh I did mark the checkbox to save th...

Hyperlinks in PDF don't open in target frame
I'm encountering an issue with hyperlinks in my PDF output. When a PDF is open in a web browser or within the HTML5 help, clicking on an external link always opens the link in the same (parent) frame. All hyperlinks are set up in Flare with a target frame of "New Window/Tab," but the only ...

Re: Toggle a numbered list item
Thanks for the replies and the tip. It is technically its own step, but making it a substep is a good workaround. The toggler is at the beginning of the topic, and the steps appear later--by the time the user gets to the step, it is either shown or hidden. They wouldn't toggle back and forth in the ...

Toggle a numbered list item
I'm trying to set up a toggler to show/hide a step in a numbered list, but the numbering doesn't function the way I would expect it to when a step is hidden. Example below. I set up a numbered list and assign step 2 as a named element. Then I create a toggler to show/hide step 2. When the toggler is...
