Re: Rogue Page Numbers in PDF Output

Took a while but I finally found a solution to this.
When setting up the page layouts for my project, I copied a previous layout. Copying is great most of the time, but not in this case! Took me the best part of 2 days to work it out.
In the Page Properties for the Front Matter page type, which I'm ...

Rogue Page Numbers in PDF Output

Hi,
I have a project that I output to HTML5 and PDF. Working in Flare 12.

The PDF has:
- a cover page (Title layout - no page numbers). TOC properties: Page Layout Break, Page Type = Title
- a version page (First layout - no page numbers) TOC Properties: Page Layout Break - tried setting this to ...

Re: First Heading 1 in PDF Output is Numbered "2. Introducti

Thanks Nita and Matty for your replies.

This was driving me nuts because I had the TOC setup as you describe above with a chapter break on the first topic page and 1 in the Reset to: field.

However, I had inadvertently selected the Increment number option and not the Reset to option in the Chapter ...

First Heading 1 in PDF Output is Numbered "2. Introduction"

I'm creating a new section in an existing HTML5 project that I also need to output to PDF with numbered headings.

The problem I have is that there is only one topic so far, apart from front matter topics, which has a first heading 1 of "2. Introduction". This should obviously be "1. Introduction ...

Re: Page Layout Header and Footer Not Displaying in Output

Stop looking, I found it!

I added another page after the version page, for the TOC, and the header and footer display ok on this page, but still not on the version page.

Went back and had a look at the output for the PDF that the previous tech writer had produced and realised that the header and ...

Page Layout Header and Footer Not Displaying in Output

I'm using the latest version of Flare 12 to maintain an existing HTML5 project.
In the past a previous tech writer set up a section of this project to output to HTML and PDF. This particular section isn't required as PDF now, but is still output to HTML.
I'm creating a new section of help that must ...

Re: CSH - Convert From CSV Mapping to Alias & Header Files

You could make your own header and alias file from the CSV.
To see their format, create a few alias entries in a project, then look at the header and alias files in a text editor.

The header file needs to include the alias and value, in the format below.
You can prepare this in Excel from a copy ...

CSH - Convert From CSV Mapping to Alias & Header Files

I'm using Flare 11 to produce a HTML5 tri-pane help system for a mature (25+ years) application.

In the past I used an IDE utility to manage context strings, but that utility doesn't exist any more. For the past 2 years I've used a CSV file to manage mappings for context strings. The CSV file has 2 ...

Thanks for the replies to both of you.
I did wonder shortly after posting this question whether I might need to import the external CSS. I'll give that a try.
Ramon, FYI, the server I specified is an internal testing server and I can browse to that location and see the contents of the CSS file ...

Link to Remote CSS

I have a HTML 5 TopNav project in Flare 11.
Some pages of the output are going to be displayed in a slide-out panel of the application's interface. For these pages I've created a separate master page and CSS file because the UX/UI designer doesn't want any Flare headers/footers/navigation etc in ...

Re: Hide Side Menu From Search Page

Thanks Dave, that did the trick.

Yeah, I think you'll have to create your own topic for the search results, and insert the Search Results Proxy .

Then you'll also need to add a search results skin component to your project (and set its styles), then select that skin in the target.

A word of ...

Hide Side Menu From Search Page

I have a HTML5 top nav project that I've created a custom side menu for. It's located in the same position as the default Flare side menu.
I have a different home page with its own css file, that I don't want the side menu to appear on. That's easy using display: none.
All other topics use another ...

Re: Securing Access to Flare HTML5 Output

The (HTML5) online help for our software resides on an IIS web server, which is not publicly available. Also, we don't allow browsing directly to the online help, and only provide access via the software.
The web server is configured to not allow access unless the call to help contains a token ...

Hi Brea,
Did you find a solution to this?
I had the same problem when I first started using Flare.
Take a look at the last couple of posts in this thread for the solution: https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=18306&p=96278#p96278

Re: Expand Dropdown Text Before Printing

This is what I use - I worked out the code from MadCap's javascript, and it seems to work for me.

For a HTML5 tripane skin , create a new button and use this as the button event:
MadCap.Utilities.CrossFrame.PostMessageRequest(frames.topic,"expand-all"); setTimeout(function(){MadCap.Utilities ...

Expand Dropdown Text Before Printing

I am using Flare 11 and have 2 HTML5 projects, one tri-pane and one TopNav.

For both outputs I would like to be able to modify the built-in Print button to expand dropdown text before printing.

As a plan B, I could add custom Print buttons to both projects to do this, but I can't even see how you ...

Re: Add external link to logo in HTML5 output

Does anyone know if it is possible to do this for a HTML5 TopNav skin?

There is a Logo URL option on the Setup tab, but it only allows you to choose a file from the current project.

I only have one topic in my project that I want to do this for, so the hyperlink isn't pointing to the only topic ...

Re: Are Foundation Grid Styles Available in Flare 11?

I get a link to foundation_custom.css on in the head the skin file, i.e. Default.htm, but it isn't automatically added to my topics (which are in a separate iframe in tripane) - which is where I presume you want to use the foundation layout styles?

What I'm trying to achieve in my HTML5 tri-pane ...

Re: Are Foundation Grid Styles Available in Flare 11?

Well, I have a project that I created from Flare's Top navigation advanced template, and if I build that with a tripane skin, the home page layout is a mess.
Taking a quick look, it appears the foundation CSS is only included if you're using a top nav skin. I noticed the foundation javascript still ...

Went to Mike Hamilton's advanced workshop on the Wednesday of MadWorld 2015.

Still waiting on Mike to post his slides of the presentation as he said he ...

When I started my Flare 10 project I decided that I didn't need the Search Filter dropdown list in my HTML5 Output.
