Re: New to Flare - Top nav with side menu proxy
You can achieve this but not with Flare out of the box. We're using a top navigation skin and also wanted a collapsible side menu. To do this I used SmartMenus: https://www.smartmenus.org/ There are other threads that discuss this, but take a look at our docs: https://learn.foundry.com/modo/14.1/con...

Conditional filters to prevent translation spoils the output
Hi, I'm using Lingo to translate all our user guides to Japanese. Within the user guides, we've applied a condition to terms that don't require translation, such as UI labels, product names, or commands. We received feedback from a Japanese colleague that the translation was extremely poor and not f...

Machine translation different to suggestion
Hi, Due to poor feedback on our Japanese translation, I'm trying to compare a Lingo doc, with a good translation of the same document to see what's going wrong in Lingo. Both are using Google to machine translate. So I translated a sentence using Google on the web and got a different result to the s...

Re: PDF Table of Contents with same hierarchy as TOC
Amazing! It must have been the master stylesheet was that was breaking it. A genuinely innovative solution - thanks Dave Lee! Our PDF table of contents now look so much better. Where do I send the cheque? :) One thing that baffles me... whay doesn't Flare use the TOC to generate the toc proxy?! Seem...

Re: PDF Table of Contents with same hierarchy as TOC
Hi Dave, Thanks for the quick reply - you're better than Madcap support! Alas, I'm only seeing the highest level topic in my PDF table of contents. I have a simple TOC to test, with three levels: Grandparent topic |-----Parent topic |------Child Topic I always use h1.sectionTitle as the title of my ...

Re: PDF Table of Contents with same hierarchy as TOC
Thanks Dolorem, Dave, Dave I saw that on another thread. I'm not sure how to adapt it to my project as I used h1.sectionTitle as the topic title, and within the topic I use a regular h1 for subsections. I tried the code below, but I'm not seeing the h1's only the h1.sectionTitle. h2, h3, h4, h5, h6 ...

PDF Table of Contents with same hierarchy as TOC
Hello, All of my topics start with a h1 variant style (h1.sectionTitle) and I want to generate a print contents page that reflects the hierarchy of the topics in the TOC. Unfortunately, as they all start with the same style, the contents page is flat with no levels, and if I check 'Use TOC depth for...

Re: Target Tags are Missing
For anyone else with same problem - I deleted the target segment and re-applied the translation. The problem then disappeared. Still curious to know what causes this.

Target Tags are Missing
Hi,
Anyone know what "Target Tags are Missing" means in Lingo in relation to a segment? Also, how to troubleshoot?
Thanks!

Termbase vs Translation Memory in Machine Translation
Hello, I haven't been able to fathom this from the Lingo user guide (which is woefully lacking in examples), but if I add terms to a term base, can they be used in a machine translation? I know the Translation Memory can be used pre-machine translation, and this begs the question, if I have a term b...

Re: Stop UI strings being translated
We're doing machine translation using Google's engine. The problem is that Lingo seems to discard the span class="notranslate" tags and everything is translated.

Smartmenus 1.1.0
Hi, Has anyone managed to get Smartmenus 1.1.0 working in Flare 2018? Or perhaps something similar? I'm using a topnav skin and I've managed to get Smartmenus 1.0.0-beta working. I have a lovely side menu that covers the full toc and is collapsible at each parent topic. However, there's behaviour in...

Re: Add accordion side menu with location highlight, to top
To summarise my solution, I used Smartmenus as described by Dave Lee in this post: https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21607 (make sure you keep mc-toc-depth: -1 in the menuproxy or you won't see any dropdowns). I needed to change the initialise.js script to cope with this beha...

Re: Add accordion side menu with location highlight, to top
Thanks all for replies. I'm actually having some success with Smartmenus. I now have a collapsible menu with location expand and highlight, though it hasn't been stress tested. I needed to do a couple of things: - Factor in this new behaviour: http://kb.madcapsoftware.com/Content/Misc/GEN1022Z_-_Usi...

Add accordion side menu with location highlight, to top nav
Hi, Due to customer feedback, I'd like to add an accordion style left menu to our top nav. The menu should be expandable to view the full hierarchy and should highlight the page that the user is on. The template we currently use has a side menu but it uses the menu proxy and is not collapsible. I kn...

Stop UI strings being translated
Hi, I'm new to Lingo and was wondering if it's possible to stop certain words (namely the ones from the UI of our software) being translated. I was hoping that you could list certain <span> classes to avoid translation but haven't been able to find this feature. The feature needs to be selective, as...

Re: Report on topics in built output that aren't in the TOC
Thanks ChoccieMuffin! Seems like a good workaround. I was hoping I could just work from the original, but in the absence of that feature, yours is a good alternative.

Report on topics in built output that aren't in the TOC
Hi, I'm trying to make sure there are no topics in my output that aren't in the TOC. I'm excluding content not linked to, however there may be some cross-refs in current topics to topics that have been removed from the TOC, and so these topics are included in the output. I can use Flare or Analyzer ...

Re: Build hangs with Google Analytics code in master page
Thanks Dave. Yes, tried your suggestions but no luck. I have found out what is causing it though - I copied a target from a working project and it turned out that it was the 'Use lowercase filenames' option that was stalling the build. With this option unchecked, it builds fine. Now to find out why!

Re: Build hangs with Google Analytics code in master page
Thanks all. Yes, I'd prefer to use the new code. Thanks for recommendations Dave. Sadly it still won't work for us. It seems to be this line that's causing the problem: <script async="1" src="https://www.googletagmanager.com/gtag/js?id=UA-XXXXXXX-XX"> </script> Given the lack of ...

Build hangs with Google Analytics code in master page
Hello, Some of our larger projects are failing to build after we've added Google Analytics code to the topic master page - the build hangs at 'Resolving links in output files...'. Strangely, this only happens in larger (a few hundred topics) projects. The code we've added is as follows (with the act...
