Integrate prior versions of help to current output

Hello, I'm trying to figure out a way to create online help for the latest version of a software, while still giving access to prior versions of the documentation corresponding to prior versions of the software, a bit like this: example.PNG I have no idea how to do this. Any advice is very much welc...

Re: Image jumps to next page

I use the exact same configuration for both guides (page layout, etc). It's just that the content of the guide before this topic is different and when this topic comes up, the image comes approximately in the middle of a page for guide A and at the top of a page for guide B. It's normal that it does...

Image jumps to next page

Hi! I have a topic containg an image in a given size that displays well in guide A. For guide B, I use this same topic containing this same image and when building the document, the image jumps to the next page, leaving a huge blank space at the bottom of the previous page. So my question is: How do...

Online help for various product versions

Hi,

Simple question. Where do I get the info to create an online help that would feature the help of various versions of a product? Let's say I want my home page to offer online help for FictionSoft V1, FictionSoft v2 and so on. I can't find this info. Can anyone help?

Thanks

Re: How to associate a p.TOC class with a H1 class

Thanks jasonsmith! Indeed, this workaround seems to work even though I need to adjust some things in my project such as: in my projects, I use h1 as the title for all topics and then use the very handy option "Use TOC depth for heading levels" to have a nice toc. Now, with p.h1_Purple repl...

How to associate a p.TOC class with a H1 class

Hi, I can't find the answer to my concern. h1 displays in the TOC with style p.TOC1. Ok. It's great and I need to keep it. Now, I've created a style h1.Purple. It needs to be displayed in the TOC with style p.TOC1Purple. The thing is I can't find where to set this association, the default link of h1...

Can't change Dropdown icons

Hi I recently moved to Flare 11 and my custom dropdown icons won't display. I used to set them in the dropDown style, by changing mc-closed-image and mc-open-image. Now, if I want the same behavior, I have to change the default DropDownClosed.gif and DropDownOpen.gif which are located in MadCap Flar...

Re: Text and image alignment issue

Thanks Nita. I tried your solution but with no success. That would have been easy though :) During my searches, I had found that vertical alignment is not supported in HTML5. That's why I pasted the piece of code with text line height set to the same height as the image, as it's the only way I've fo...

Text and image alignment issue

Hi, I'm having trouble aligning some text with an image. I produce a web output with the new Top Navigation feature and when I look at the result, the output for web and tablet looks fine: web_ok.PNG But the smartphone output looks awful: mobile_nok.PNG Here's the piece of code used (it's what i've ...

Local formatting just for one medium

Hi

Does anyone know how to apply local formatting just for one medium? I need to adjust some very few parts of my document only for the pdf output, but I don't know how to tell Flare not to apply local formatting (i.e not in stylesheet) to my web output.

Thanks for your help

Unused Content Files lists some used files

Hi, I've downloaded the trial version of Analyzer and have been using it for only 2 days now. It seemed like a great tool but when I want to delete all my unused content files, for some of them, when I'm about to confirm their removal, a message warns me that the file is actually linked to a topic. ...

Re: Unexpected page breaks due to table

I got help from the support. Apparently, often, with very long tables, they will automatically break onto the next page because they are too long to fit into the designated space. A workaround for this behavior would be to manually break the table into two pieces, so that at least a portion of the t...

Unexpected page breaks due to table

Hi

I've inserted a long table in a topic preceded by a H2 heading.
For some reason, a page break occurs before and after the heading, whereas all break options are set to Avoid. Has anyone encountered this kind of issue?

Thank you

Different column width for each output

Hi,

I'm sure there is a way to do this: I want to set different column widths within a table and have them differ according to the output. Here's a screenshot to sum up what I mean to do:

Removing or adding one cell

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a way to remove a cell within a table? I've created a table style that has a header row and a header coloum. I want to remove the cell that is at the top left corner. Re: Pictogram alignment issue

Ok, so, Madcap support confirms that PDF doesn't handle background-position values properly. The workaround is to adjust your p.class styles using padding-top and margin-bottom values. (Don't hesitate to put negative values for padding-top if needed). It worked for me, hope it will for all those who...

Re: Pictogram alignment issue

Thanks for your answers, I opened a request to the support, but no answer yet. If not, I'll try your workarounds but having already spent much time with the designers, I hope I don't have to "hard-craft" the bullets or make a table, cause all my lists work this way and it would be very epi...

Pictogram alignment issue

Hi, Here's my concern: I have two outputs (html5 and pdf). I wanted to apply specific pictos to list styles and Note style and I've been advised to create p.bullet and p.Note styles. Ok. The thing is, everything displays fine in html5 output, as shown in the first two screenshots. To have a correct ...

Re: Dropdown heads and PDF styles

Thanks all for your answers. For my part, setting the dropdownhead for print medium seemed to work (I first thought dropdown styles could only be set fo web outputs). However, I had a formating parameter which wouldn't apply, but I sorted it out by setting also the dropdownhotspot style.

Wrong page layout for glossary and index

Hi,

When I build my pdf output, all page layouts are properly applied, except for glossary and index. Aren't these topics supposed to take the last page layout specified in the TOC?
Is there anything I'm missing?
Thanks for your help!

Edit the MadCap | xref.TOCPageNumber style

That's it :)
