Re: Using a grammer checker with Flare
As per Steve's suggestion, I just added a feature request. https://www.madcapsoftware.com/confirmation/feature-request I also posted the same question on the Flare Slack channel. Just a quick reminder, this is a peer to peer support platform. Occasionally folk from Madcap drop-in, but if you want to...

Re: Conditional on an alias?
Thank you! I saw that and played around with that a bit. There is just one alias that needs a conditional in a project with 1000 of aliases that need to remain consistent across six versions, so I was hoping not to resort to multiple alias files. I may have to manage this one alias version by versio...

Conditional on an alias?
I think I know the answer to this based on the tests I have run, but I want to double-check in case there is something I am missing. Can you put a conditional tag on an alias? The goal here is to have one alias used for multiple topics in multiple versions. Let's take alias "RelNotes" Vers...

Printing One Topic
For ADA testing, I want to test just one topic because of all the issues on the master page. How can I do that? I set up a TOC with one topic, an output that uses that TOC and is set to delete unused files. The publish process goes through the whole project to publish it, thereby defeating the whole...

IDs for H1 - ADA Compliance
How do you get Flare to assign each H1 an ID at runtime? I am using a tri-pane skin. One of the tests we are failing is telling the screen reader to skip the tri-pane frame and begin reading the H1 on each page. There is a way to put a command in the tri-pane file that tells the screen reader to jum...

I imported already. Honestly, I do not know how to set the import to do that. All the topic break options do not make it obvious how to do that.

Yes, it did. I also removed all section breaks. The file imported as one long document.doc_guy wrote:Did removing manual page breaks in your source file solve your problem?

Importing Into a Single File
I am trying to import a large document (80 pages) into a Flare project and have it import as one long topic. The method to my madness is to use the Kaizen Plugin to split by H1s and then H2s. This will be much faster. (There is a reference to this process in https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtop...

Re: ADA Templates from Flare
Thank you so much for the information. Those articles are very helpful - especially about skip navigation. I found out that part of the error I'm getting is a ... known bug in the testing tool. So, we may need to write an exception. However, I would like to know if we can do it... somehow. Support s...

I just received a reply from Support that works!! I want to share in case this helps anyone who is struggling. Please follow the outlined steps below: 1. Re: ADA Templates from Flare
I'm using HTML5 output. I've noticed that there is a difference in the 508 options between the two outputs sometimes. Out of curiosity, I created a Webhelp target and it inserts the language tag in the correct place. The tripane skin seems to be the only one that doesn't put the language tag in the ...

Re: ADA Templates from Flare
Wow, Michelle! Thank you for typing all that out. How do you get around the structure errors from the skin? For example, the language tag needs to be on the first HTML tag. I cannot get the tripane skin to do this. I have a case open with Support because I cannot manually add the language tag into t...

Skip navigation anchor
My web team gave me the code to tell screen readers to skip the navigation bar and header. It is as follows: the anchor markup skip the header is: <a href="#Id_Of_First_Element_In_Content_Area" class="sr-only">Skip to main content</a> you can get the sr-only class from bootstrap ...

Re: Specifying the language in the <HTML> Tag for Accessibil
Just a follow up to this in case my experience helps someone struggling with the same issue. I actually logged an issue with Madcap because the language tag is automatically in the right place in the side nav output using the side nav skin. And I cannot figure out why ... meaning, I cannot figure ou...

Re: Finding images and corresponding topics
That is exactly what I'm working on. :-) Also, as a side note, I find that the Accessibility Suggestion analysis will show the location of the image. However, I had to go to a smaller project to see that in action. I find that the ADA analysis cannot handle the 1000s of images and topics in a larger...

Re: Finding images and corresponding topics
Wow. I had never seen the Report tool! This came the closest. I can get a report of all used images and their topics ... BUT It comes out in a list not a table. I need the table for the sorting. (This is weird and totally subpar on Madcap's part.) I can't add the images without tags options without ...

Re: Finding images and corresponding topics
That was my first thought. I tried it and got a list. Unfortunately, that list only showed the beginning of the image tag and not the name of the image file. If it showed the whole name of the image, I could sort by that and see how many instances of the same image occurred. When I search by the fol...

I'm stumped. I'm trying to extract a list from Flare that tells me how many times an image has been inserted. I've tried manipulating the File List and the Analysis tools to no avail. I want to see a list that displays as following: Image File | Topic Where the File Appears The link viewer will show...

Re: Side Nave Bar static?
Thank you for showing me where to look. I set the breakpoints to 0 for both tablet and mobile and now the nav bar is always there. Thank you!
I'm coming out of the tripane world where the "Hide Navigation Pane on Startup" box on the Setup tab controls this.
Thank you!

Side Nave Bar static?
Looking as the new skins for the side nav template. How do you get the side navigation to always show up on the window? I accidentally showed the preview to my boss with no side navigation column and that hamburger in the upper right corner. He hated it. I don't know if I turned something on or off ...

Re: Specifying the language in the <HTML> Tag for Accessibil
I'm responding because I am still having this problem in 2019 while using Flare 2018 r2. Has anyone been able to find a solution that works for every topic at runtime? Other than adding the language tag to every topic? This is what the HTML tag looks like at the top of my output: <!DOCTYPE html> <ht...

Re: iFrame errors for ADA when no iframe in project
Thank you so much Psider! Your answer is really helpful. All of those options are turned off in my project. This looks like code that Madcap is throwing in at runtime even if it's only to say, "This is not configured". There is nothing I can do about that. There is so much gray area in the...

iFrame errors for ADA when no iframe in project
I am in the ADA storm right now. The testing tool keeps spitting out the following error on every topic: This frame does not have a `title` attribute. The issue is that I am using a tri-pane skin for HTML5 output. Flare states that the topics in this output don't use iframes. Pages in HTML5 output d...

I am wondering, does Flare offer any sample ADA templates along with the Accessibility Guide? Some of these requirements are hard to interpret without a coded example. As more and more and more and MORE of these requirements become unfeasible for a lone writer with a heavy content load, I am wonderi...
