I know this thread is pretty old, but I got the same error message today with Flare 2024. I solved it by right-clicking the Flare icon and choosing Run as administrator. Hope this is helpful to someone else.

Re: Add accordion side menu with location highlight, to top nav
I realize I'm posting some years after the initial post, but I was able to get rid of that error by moving the reference to initialise.js to the end of the template page, just before the closing body tag. I also included defer: <script type="text/javascript" defer="defer" src=&qu...

Re: Syntax for Flare Variable in Javascript
Thanks for posting the updated solution from Dave Lee. It didn't work for me until I discovered something after several hours of trial and error. I'm posting my discovery here in case it's helpful to anyone else. By the way, this post assumes the reader has basic familiarity with javascript. If you ...

Re: Why is Rebuild sometimes enabled and sometimes disabled?
Okay, per Murphy's Law, I figured out the answer soon after I posted the question :) I couldn't find this documented anywhere. But Rebuild is only available in Central if the build was generated from Central. If it was generated from Flare, Rebuild is not available. Hope this answer helps someone el...

Why is Rebuild sometimes enabled and sometimes disabled?
Our team has multiple projects in Central. When I go to the Build list for a project and click the 3-dot menu, sometimes the Rebuild option is available, and other times it's grayed out. I've looked for patterns as to why this might be happening, but I can't see any. It doesn't appear to be associat...

Re: Build fail Could not find a part of path ErrorID=10086
I don't know if this will help anyone, but after quite a bit of troubleshooting I discovered that the build fails if the target name is 41 characters or more, excluding the .fltar extension. I don't know if that's the only cause of a build failing because it "could not find a part of a path,&qu...

Re: Root Element Missing issue
Sometimes Flare gets its knickers in a twist, so I suggest you close your Flare project and delete the Output and Analyzer folders, then re-open your project and try to build again. And this is what fixed it for me. Sometimes the old solutions are the best ones! Worked for me too! Thank you, Chocci...

Re: Setting Drop-down Text to Open Expanded
Following up on my post above: I tried using JavaScript to blur the last selected element (I assume it was selected because it was "clicked" by the script). But I couldn't get it to blur, and hence couldn't get the page to scroll to the top. But that failure led me to another solution that...

Re: Setting Drop-down Text to Open Expanded
When I run the script, it scrolls down nearly to the bottom of the page. The script is at the top of the topic (in the <head> tags). Any idea how to prevent this?

Re: Language attribute at the topic level
I realize this is an old thread, but I'm having the same issue and it's causing significant problems on my current project. I have a project where the target language is set to Spanish (es). However, there are some untranslated pages that need to be set to English. I'm using the language attribute t...

Batch Flatten Snippets?
I suspect I know the answer to this question, but I'll ask it anyway.
Is there any way to flatten all snippets in a project, i.e., convert them all to text? I realize I can manually convert each one, but I'm wondering if there's some kind of batch functionality I can use.
Thanks!
Kathryn

Where did meta tag come from in Flare file?
Hi everyone, A few days ago I created a new project from scratch in Flare. I chose the the Side Navigation template from the Factory templates. I just noticed something in the <head> tag of topics that I don't think I've seen in a Flare project before: <meta name="template" content="F...

Dropdown hotspot text not displaying
Hi everyone, I am working on a page that consists of about 15 dropdown hotspots. All work as expected except the last one at the bottom of the page. When I click the last one, nothing apparently happens, although the scrollbar moves. It turns out the text is being loaded below the end of the page an...

Re: Querying a database for content
I know this is an old thread, but it's relevant to what I'm trying to do now. You can do that with PHP. Embed PHP code in the page to connect to the database and query the tables, then prepare the results for output. I've done this type of thing frequently on regular (non-Flare) websites. But in ord...
