Re: Spaces disappearing between variables and snippets

I've raised this bug at least twice. For me it mostly happens when copy-pasting in the XML editor or when snippetizing existing content (which is a really tough one to spot at the time it happens). The most recent response back in March was "After looking further into the issue, I have found th...

Re: Flare 2021: "Links used in header or footer frame" PDF W

It has been confirmed as a bug by MadCap: "I deleted the footer and header frames and it still gave me the warning. I then removed everything and just left 1 bookmark and it still gave me the warning. I then removed the bookmark leaving just a heading and a paragraph and it removed the warning....

Re: Topics can get incorrectly included in HTML5 output

Yes, I agree entirely with the advice to use conditions on the topics for absolute control and clarity. Even if people don't see it as a clear bug, I think it's worthwhile to alert people to the behavior as they may want to check their output to make sure they're not publishing more topics than they...

Re: Topics can get incorrectly included in HTML5 output

If you set the condition on the paragraph containing the link (rather than applied directly on the link) the linked topic is still included i.e. Flare will correctly exclude the entire paragraph containing the link to "newtopic" but still includes newtopic in the output. That has to be wro...

Re: Topics can get incorrectly included in HTML5 output

Yes doloremipsum, that's exactly what I thought. I tried several times with Madcap to argue that their logic doesn't make sense, but they still insist that it's deliberate behavior.

Re: Flare 2021: "Links used in header or footer frame" PDF W

I get the same problem. From my testing it seems to be caused by the presence of bookmarks/anchors in the topic content, and nothing to do with headers or footers in the page layout.

I'm waiting for a response from Madcap.

Re: protected space in Variables

As far as I can tell that is not supported. Even if you manually edit the variable files to insert the   it gets ignored and removed. You could use a snippet instead of a variable if you don't need any of the specific features of variables - we did that in the past for "G Suite".

Re: Topics can get incorrectly included in HTML5 output

It seems that people are happy to work around it and use different strategies. However I do agree with Dave and ChoccieMuffin that the belt and braces technique of using conditions on the topics/files to make the output more predictable is a good approach, particularly in large projects or where the...

Re: Topics can get incorrectly included in HTML5 output

I'm still failing to see any justification for the current behavior.

Why should I have to explicitly exclude any of the other content in my project that isn't linked directly or indirectly to anything in the build?

Topics can get incorrectly included in HTML5 output

I'd like to make people aware of what I believe to be an extremely serious bug in Flare that results in content (topics) that should be conditioned out being included in HTML5 output. The "excluded" topics are findable only through search (as well as the topic htm files physically being pr...

Re: Code Snippets

A minor point is that the generated output converts any leading space characters to a   character, which might not be desirable in some situations. It does this for every language type, including PlainText. This specific issue caused a problem fur us with the jinja templating language, although usin...

Re: Copied a topic, deleted snippets, but they appear in out

I have had occasional instances where the Flare output matches a previously saved version of a topic. It's as if the new content hasn't actually been saved, or the previous content has been cached somewhere. In those cases, making another arbitrary edit and save of the topic fixed it for me. Also, a...

If you manually insert a   into your variables be aware that the Flare editor will automatically strip it out again the next time you edit any of the other variables in that variable set.

Re: Breadcrumb Bug - Uses topic file name instead of topic t

FYI - I have a long-standing case (89863) open with Madcap which I submitted as "Normally the text displayed in the last element of a breadcrumbs entry is taken from the TOC label. If that TOC label contains a variable, then the topic title / H1 is used instead."

Re: Search not working in HTML5 output/Flare 11

I have just had a problem where if I build "Top Navigation" help and view it locally on my PC, then the search works fine. If I put all of my output files onto a web server and perform the same search there, then the search doesn't seem to trigger at all: a) I stay on the same page as from...

This may or may not help, but I have just had a similar problem that turned out to be an issue with image styles. My image style included definitions such as: border-left-style: none; border-left-width: ; border-left-color: ; Flare v10 didn't mind, but v11 complained with invalid css messages about ...

Count me in. Snippet variables would be very useful and far easier for other authors to maintain and understand.

Re: Updating Flarestrap for SEO. Taking feature requests.

Hi Justin - I've read that support for multi-level drop down menus was removed in Bootstrap 3. Therefore users have been coming up with their own css classes to support it.

An example of what I'm talking about can be found at http://bootsnipp.com/snippets/featured/ ... n-menu-bs3

Re: Updating Flarestrap for SEO. Taking feature requests.

First, I'd like to say that what you have done so far is fantastic. One feature I'd like to see added is cascading/multi-level menus. The other general enhancement to the Flarestrap site that would be great is a bit more guidance/examples on how to add more master page elements to the navbars/chrome...

Re: Preview bar in Flare 10

No, the Status Bar check box only toggles the status bar across the bottom of the entire window. I'm referring to new 'preview bar' section that sits towards the bottom of the content / project organizer accordion and shows info about the selected file/folder.

Preview bar in Flare 10

Does anybody know of a way to turn off / hide the preview bar (introduced in v10) that sits at the bottom of the Content Explorer and Project Organizer?
