Not good practice to post the same request in more than one folder (I answered your first post).

Re: How to Hide Markers?
In the XML Editor, click the down arrow at the Show Tags icon (next to last icon on the right, just above the topic pane), then deselect Show Markers.
However, what you have there is an empty span tag, which should actually be deleted.
Hope this helps,

Re: HTML5 Index results weirdness
As it turns out, the behavior only happens on local machines, but not the production version on our server. So, it looks like we're only affected in our own QA work, but the customer-facing output should be fine.

Disappointing result from MadCap support on this issue: I was able to reproduce the behavior here. Please note that I have submitted a Bug Report on your behalf (#89818) with our development team and you will be notified via email if a fix for this is included in a future patch or release version. Re: Control appearance of output printed from HTML5 Target?
I'd also like to hear from anyone who can solve the empty first page when printing online help pages. And, Nita, a "print" and "printPDF" media work quite well, as we've recently found.A secondary issue is getting rid of the empty first page.

*** Unfortunately, this "fix" of mine did not persist (it's BACK!). I'll be submitting a bug report to Flare immediately. *** Flare 10.2, HTML5 output, Skin toolbar set to display the ExpandAll button (in the Selected pane). In the output, the CollapseAll button was incorrectly displayed (...

Re: Medium Inheritance
Yeah, Dave, I discovered the Print Background Colors and Images option in the IE Print > Page Setup dialog just yesterday. As to: mediums don't apply to a built PDF I've recently added a printPDF medium for specific image and list differences; the PDF targets call for that medium and it works great!...

There's a similar issue in V10.2 (intermittently unable to type in either or both Find/Replace text boxes):

Please file a bug report. Your V9 bug might have carried over into V10.

Re: Problem with alignment of text in different fonts in tables
Courier and Courier New (monospace fonts) have a larger line-height value, by default, than the other serif and sans-serif fonts. (Monospace also applies to the font characters' increased width, as you already know.) To test this for yourself, assign one of each font to two versions of the same mult...

Re: miniTOC depth issue
Nita, thx for responding. There is nothing in our CSS for those elements; nor are there any mc-heading-level settings for h2, which does appear in the print mini-TOC. Order of element groupings in CSS
Last week, I read a "guru" posting that listed the order in which elements should be positioned in the "Default" medium of the style sheet (links first, then paras, dynamics last, etc.?). Now, of course, I can't find it again when I really need it! Could the guru who posted it pl...

Same problem here. Sometimes it won't accept typing after several successful uses, other times it happens at the very first try after opening the project. Support "couldn't replicate" (Case 64034, 8/5/2014), so we're left with composing text in Notepad and pasting it into the boxes (yes bo...

Re: Medium Inheritance
My guess is that "defaults come from" the HTML standard, which is interpreted for good or ill by the browsers.
I also like the idea of not working in the default, so as not to inadvertently influence one or both of the "custom" media.
Thx to you and Dave.

Re: Medium Inheritance
Thx for chiming in, Dave. By "common style properties" in the (default) medium, do you mean things like p {line-height: 10pt;} and so forth? So, for everything else (with or without [default]), it seems like I would go with these three (in a single CSS): @media non-print @media print @medi...

Medium Inheritance
[First time working with PDF output, in addition to online] I've inherited a style sheet that contains: [default] @media print [some other default stuff] @media non-print From the posts I've read, it seems that best practice is to use default (base) first, and then @media print (no @media non-print)...
