Re: File Path in Search Result

If the styling of the search result via skin settings is of no success, you might try to hide the file path and name by adding some css in your topic stylesheet:

/*Do not show topic name in search result */
#resultList .url cite
{
display: none;
}

Here are some other styles for the sear result ...

Re: Flare 2019

Hello,
Simona's bug message "bookmark links <a name=... don't work in Flare 2019 / Tripane anymore" made our alert bells ring. I contacted our vendor and Flare consultant and he made a few tests with a tripane project. He could not confirm that links wouldn't work.

So I tried it on my own and made ...

Re: How does the compiler "know" that merging is not support

Maybe the decision is made internally by looking at the "Type" entry in the target file. There are different types:
- HTML5: Type="WebHelp2"
- WebHelpMobile: Type="WebHelpMobile"
- HTML Help (CHM): Type="HtmlHelp"
- PDF: Type="PDF"

In the skin file, you have the same type description in the ...

Re: "X" in the search input field

The "X" is also displayed in Flare's own help.
I deactivated the autocomplete in our's, and the "X" ist still there.
And here is an older version that does not have any autocomplete script, but the "X" is there:

Re: "X" in the search input field

We have the standrad Flare search but extended by an autocomplete script (jquery.easy-autocomplete.js).
But that should not have an influence on the "X" button. I compared it to Flare's own help, it's the same result:
Displays and works in IE 11 and Edge, does not diplay in Chrome and Firefox.

"X" in the search input field

Hi,
I have a problem concerning the search input field of a HTML5 help system. Every time you enter a search term in that field, an "X" button is displayed in the right corner which is supposed to delete the search term entered.

In IE 11 and Edge, this button works. It is displayed, it can be ...

Re: Perl script in post-build command

The problem is solved. Restarting the complete build environment made the modification of the path variables take effect.
The perl script works fine now.

Perl script in post-build command

Hello,
I have a problem using a Perl script in a post-build command that is executed from a target. The command is like this:
<PostBuild>chdir /D $(OutputDirectory)\Content\htm
href2htm.pl Company_Help_k_start
</PostBuild>

The first line changes drive and directory, the second line executes the ...

Re: Four Flare anomalies

There is one more thing in Flare's XML Editor (web layout). Starting from version 2017 sometimes it is impossible to scroll down to the end of a topic. The last two or three <p> or <li> paragraphs are hidden, and the displayed text jumps upwards. You can move to those hidden lines with the cursor ...

Re: How to make the abstract disappear?

There are two ways to solve your problem:
1) Insert a meta text "description" in your topics to avoid the appearance of code in the abstract. This text will be used for the search result abstract. You can do this in the topic properties.
2) Use some css to hide the abstract:

#resultList ...

Re: HTML 5 - Printing topic not working

Hello Aurelie,

this is not an issue with Flare or your Flare Project, but it's the browser. I encountered the same error message in IE11 (and a blank page as a print Output) a few days ago. Edge, Chrome and Firefox are fine, but IE11 refuses to print. The reason for this is a Windows update for ...

mc-disable-glossary-terms: true;

Hello,
there seems to be a difference between Flare 11 and Flare 12 when using the Madcap css style 'mc-disable-glossary-terms: true;'. We use this setting to prevent terms in specific styles from beeing converted into glossary popup links. For example, there's a class 'p.glossary' with mc-disable ...

[SOLVED]: Tripane/Asian language: First character moves

I've found it - it was the 'body' style 'font-family: Arial' from Flare's Styles.css. When set to certain fonts (i.e. Verdana), this style caused the asian characters to move.
For Webkit browsers, there is a special setting 'font-family: sans-serif', so Chrome would not show this issue.
I've added ...

[SOLVED] Tripane/Asian language: First character moves

Hello,

in our HTML5 tripane help, there's a problem when displaying the TOC in asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) in IE 11. The first character of a tree-node text (collapsed or expanded) of the TOC 'moves' to the right and back. It looks somehow like a padding that is constantly switched ...

Re: Configuration of the Search-Box

Hi,
you need to have a synonym file in your project. It is located in Project\Advanced with a file extension *.mcsyns. In this file, you enter misspelled search terms or words in a completely different meaning that will show a search result that you intend to be found. Whenever such a file is in the ...

A few questions about CSH in HTML5

Hi,
I'm new in this Forum, but not quite new in Flare (user since 2008-Flare 4, currently Flare 9.1). We are a german software company and we are running 7 Flare licenses to produce a large online help system. Up to now it was Html Help (CHM), 160 Flare Projects, 3500 Topics, 5 Master Projects, in ...
